Yahoo! Answers November Marathon

Here at Yahoo! Answers, we love nothing more than giving you, the community, better ways to share your experience, knowledge and insights.

So, to help you have more fun on Yahoo! Answers we’re pleased to introduce a new event called “AnswerDash”.

What is AnswerDash?

An Answers marathon where you aim to have the most Best Answers on Yahoo! Answers during the 96 hours we are running the event.

How does it work?

1.  Starting Monday, November 26, at 12:01am ET go to Yahoo! Answers and start answering as many questions as you can over the following 4 Days/96Hours

2.  Only answers that are posted within this time frame will be counted as part of the contest.

3.  Be sure to read through the Community Guidelines before you start. No “google it” or “thanks for the 2 points” answers.

4.  The members with the most Best Answers selected during this time frame will qualify for the Prizes

5. By participating in AnswerDash you agree to the Official Rules of the Promotion.

Remember: the more questions you answer, the more chances you have at being selected as Best Answer.

How do you win?

The member who gets the most Best Answers in during the 96 hours that the entry period is open will win prizes. Please remember we will also check the quality of your answers!

It will take the Yamster a few days to count up the numbers (and to measure your quality too!) so we won’t be announcing the winners until Monday, Dec 17 – just in time to make a nice holiday present!

What are the prizes?

One FIRST PLACE winner will receive a Yahoo! Messenger Bag and 1000 points!

One SECOND PLACE winner will receive a Yahoo! Thermos Travel Set and 750 points!

One THIRD PLACE winner will receive a 8 GIG Purple Swivel Drive and 500 points!

Twenty RUNNERS UP will receive 250 points!

Get Answering on November 26 – the clock’s ticking!

Thanks for reading,

*No purchase is necessary to participate in the promotion. The contest is subject to the full Official Rules, so please read them!

  6. I actually have a question. Will the limits take in account of this situation? For instance, if Level 7 users can answer up to 80 questions, then does that really mean they have to follow the limits?

At least remove the limits and let people have some fun! Otherwise, there are too many restrictions for such game!

  7. I don’t mean to sound like a “Debbie Downer”, but you realize that the winner is most likely going to be someone with multiple Y!A accounts, right? Like, how would you be able to tell if someone is “cheating”?

  8. Is there anything in place to weed out the people with multiple accounts who will vote for themselves?

  11. Um…, I can’t say, I’m aware of circumstances for Answers categories, and Schemes, and sadly, it is not for the average contributor to play, or competitively play to win against larger advanced network players,
Maybe if there were some method or strategic method set-up by Yahoo only, to know pointing schematics and how winners would be account for in final judgment,
meaning to say, allowing not only top contributors, nor surprisingly new guest players, but moderate players in between, that have chance at winning something, at least for their quality of answers or attempt at achievement for effort,
I myself can not compete, sometimes an answers needs to be typed out, and not speed bumped, my main concern is that judges go over those that appear to have done well, and validate sources and links to answers or references, and those networked in the answers as assisting best answers for the win, it may not appear against guidelines, but neither does the pyramid scheme to those at the bottom, until its too late,

Meanwhile, have fun :) , find good questions, and better answers, and like Man-Tracker, take every road, not just the high and low, keep going, never give up, do as you do,

  13. Will point gamers win for self voting and cheating with their multiple accounts or will it be Best Answer by ASKERS only……..and even then, how will you sort out the people with Multiple accounts, merely awarding THEMSELVES Best answer?

  14. Wow! I will try.

  15. On the surface this sounds great, but surely you must realize you’re basically giving away prizes to the users with the most sock puppets.

  16. Does this mean that you’re going to be lifting the number of answers that one can post in a day?

  20. That’s a great way to make everyone celebrate. But the question here remains, what if someone is from another country like Bangladesh, Italy, U.A.E (Dubai), etc. How do they receive prizes? I guess Yahoo will contact them.

  25. Unless you have multiple accounts, you wont be able to vote best answer on a question you answered because questions are open for 4 days before you can vote, therefore the contest will be over. Now if you have multiple accounts, that’s different. Are they going to temporarily suspend the answer limits?

Comment posted on November 19th, 2012 at 5:47 pm by Bees
  26. I don’t think I will participate, but I like the idea. Unless you can incourage posters to pick best answers, there will not be any kind of fair competition. The fields we participate in are quite different. Some have many posters, some have relatively few. Some are more complex than others. Physics is quite a bit different than opinion or help me sites. Anything to do with homework has to be done with great care, because we might choose to do things differently than the teacher and if we do, we do not have a chance of getting a best answer because the asker does not understand the answer.

You might try giving back askers all their points or awarding a few if they pick a best answer. Then I might think about participating.

  29. > answer as many questions as you can.
OK. wouldn’t there bean unfair advantage to level 7′s verses level 1′s with a daily answers limit?

Second, What about contacts? Don’t you think that a pair of contacts will ask a thousand of: What is your favorite color? questions in Polls and Surveys instead of a category like Physics and chemistry?

Anybody like to bet me that the winner won’t have a thousand answers with the same question: What is your favorite color? all chosen by the same asker who also happens to be a contact of the winner?

  36. 11/26/12
It seems to me that we are getting LESS Answers today. And less Questions.
Is Monday always like this? Or is it the time of year?
Maybe this contest had the OPPOSITE effect of what it intended.

  37. What about the people with higher levels? They can answer more questions.
What about people with multiple accounts? They will just cheat.
Not really trying to complain, just being fair.

  39. The Yamster will need the wisdom of Solomon to factor in all the sock puppets, multiple account people, easy category vs. very difficult category, varying levels, and no doubt a few other factors to make this even remotely fair. But what the heck……I could use those nice Thermal Tea Mugs. If I win FIRST place….I’d rather have the Tea mugs!

The Yamster will have his paws full with this one!

Good Luck fellow Yamsters! But keep your filthy paws off MY Tea Mugs!

  40. Dammit! I didn’t get a best answer on my last resolved question. I fail this. I also didn’t know about this until barely as I didn’t log in through the home page.

  41. I just gotta say how sorry I feel for the Yamsters.
I just got BA to a ? about ‘sex texting’, & it was pretty graphic.
I can’t imagine the torture them professional Yams are going to have to put up with when they are reading the Answers to ‘measure up the quality’–as they so delicately put it.
