What’s the most unusual name you’ve ever heard?

Just when we thought Facebook couldn’t impact our lives anymore, it found another way.

An Israeli couple has named their baby Like, after the Like button on Facebook. We’ve heard some unique names in our time, but this one is a bit silly. The couple claims they thought the name sounded “modern and innovative.”

Facebook did not pay the couple, obviously, but this incident shows how large a role social media play in our lives. Next thing you know, parents will start naming their children, Facebook. Wait, that actually happened earlier this year!  A man in Egypt named his daughter Facebook to express “his joy at the achievements made by the January 25 youth.

Now we turn to our community. What do you think of these names? What’s the most unusual name you’ve ever heard of?

Thanks for reading,

I also think Newt Gingrich and Mit Romney(possibly names of two Presidential candidates next year.) are odd especially since Mit Romney’s father’s name is Newt too. or is it Noot? Nute?

  20. I do genealogical indexing, which is reviewing scanned historical and vital records and entering the text into a database to make it searchable. I came across a Jamaican birth certificate from around 1913 with the first and middle name given to the baby as “Cyrious George.”

It made me wonder if he had an older, more outgoing brother by the name of “Curious.” ;)

  35. Hello, I live in Mexico and I’ve encountered some pretty weird, stupid and funny names.

First off, the name Usnavy is quite popular (ooss • nah •vy). Rumor has it that someone read it on a US NAVY ship… sounds believable. I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting anyone with that name.

I do, however, have in my possession, a copy of an official ID card of one DISNEYLANDIA RODRIGUEZ. It it ain’t obvious, “disney-landia” is Disneyland.

And, last but not least. My brother, who who’s studying to be a doctor, while being a resident in a community hospital, found (and photographed) a whiteboard with a patients name. The last names were Elcock Ryder. Don’t remember the surname, but with those last names, why should I even bother. Those are enough. It was a male patient by the way. Also notice that “El” in Spanish, is usually used the same way we would use the word “the”, so he’s last name could be interpreted as The cock rider. Awesome. Pure genius.

I mean, I’m no walk in the park myself, got some funky last names that usually cause us border patrol officers at the airport to think I am kidding, and once, my sister couldn’t pay for something she bought online with her credit card, cuz the site believed it could be forged…

So, there ya go. Hope you liked those. I’m willing to post both images up if you want me to.

    Cheers.

    Ipp T33tl3 Guilid.
So that the child has to spell their name I-P-P,
their middle name has numbers, first gamertag name ever,
    and guilid is just funny.

This name will make them a strong person, they will suffer much much torrment at a young age, and will be tough enough to handle a lot of things when they are older because of that experience.

  141. I’ve met some interesting people in my life with some interesting (euphemism for shocking) names:

    A woman named Jeanette Taylia
    A woman named Dee Vorst
A woman named Faye Gitt (she actually married a man named Gitt, unaware of the making of the slang word for a homosexual man)

    A man named Paul Baehr
    A man named Otto McCannick
    A man named Adam Mint

I also heard of an over-Christianized couple who named their girl: I’llriseandshinewithjesusinthemorning but called her Bible for “short”.

But then again, after seeing what bizarre names most people give their kids nowadays: Addison, Taylor, Kayden, Nevaeh, Jazzlyn, ect. nothing seems to shock me anymore. [sigh]

Anyways, I have met someone named Lady because her last name was Kaga (Lady Kaga, Lady Gaga(: )

I have also met a some people named India, Nagasai, Keilani, Maigan and Meaghan (instead of Megan), Madrazo (my grandma who passed away, stay safe! <3) and Shuto; I don't know if it's all abnormal, I just think they were.

I was named after my mother’s mother, Leigh, and my father’s mother, Salene. I’m jealous of my sibling’s names: Rose, John, Peter, and Charlotte – why do they have to be so simple? My kid’s names are Rosalie and Jacob – hope they’re happy! I had to grow up in a life of misery when people asked what my name was. My middle name is Marie, ironic, eh?

How about Skye Castle or Sterling Chrysler? I like those. Or would you name your kid Heyou Peters, or Waynew Dial? Would you change your name if it was Dennis Dingwitz, Hubert Gober, Craig Poos, Don Wimpy, or Ernestine Argue? Would you marry a person named Ervin Crisco, Jim Gross, or Gaylon Faggins? Would you show your driver’s license if your name was Alexandra Stankus, or Joe Malarkey?

Why repeat this nonsense?

  427. My husband, Jeremy, and I named our first child Virginia May. Yes, she was born in Virginia in the month of May. We soon changed it to April Jean since we didn’t really like the name anymore since we thought it was very mean to name your child after a state and the month they were born in. I then got pregnant with twins and we named them Augosto and Caroline since they were born in August. Then, we decided to have one last baby and I got pregnant with a baby boy. We named him Dakota Michael. April (Virginia) is now 16, Augosto and Caroline are no 14 and Dakota is now 11. They all like their names and everyday they are asked their names. The person usually says, “Wow, what a unique name!” Surprisingly, I got pregnant and had another kid, this time a girl. We named her Kendall Marie – after me. She is now 6. We couldn’t believe that I had actually gotten pregnant again! So then we had 2 more – a boy and a girl. We named the boy Jeremy (after my husband) who is now 4 and our last, who is a girl, is named Grace and is now 6 months.

    Hallelujiah!

When will it end so that the middle and last names aren’t needed? I don’t know anyone who goes initially by their last names. This defeats the purpose of having a first name.

I also find it unusual how there are many girls with guys names and guys with girl’s names like Dana, Kim, Ashley. And names that are known for being a last name is a first name such as Jackson, Morgan, Riley, plus many others I can’t think of at the moment. Just doesn’t seem right.

  595. The most unsual name I ever heard was Yummie Yummie and Phuc, yes I did say Yummie Yummie and Phuc. Years ago when my youngest daugther was attending daycare there was an event and she was playing with a little boy. I heard her calling him yummie yummie and I immediately scolded her telling her to not call people names and to call him by his correct name. She say to me, but mommy Yummie Yummie is his name. I did not believe her until I heard his mother shouting his name and scolding him telling him to behave himself. I was shocked because to me yummie yummie is an expression I know used to discribe someting delicious.

The other name PHUC while it may be know to others within that community to me it was the first I had encountered it and again it was through my children. They were in primary school, grades 5 and 7 I believe and there was this child by the name of PHUC. I need not explain what this child had to exprience since his name PHUC. You see the PH has an F sound and married along with the UC was cruelly replaced with the four letter word starting with Fu**. The poor child had a difficult time of it as the kids were relentless.

  815. Earlier I put the weirdest names that I’ve heard. But I forgot to put Blanket, which is Michael Jackson’s child.

Someother strange names I’ve heard but I don’t personally find to be that weird compared to the ones I listed earlier are:

Peaches August – She hated the name Peaches so she went by her middle name August.

Blu and Indigo – Sisters my younger sister went to high school with.

H Spencer – Spencer was his middle name which he went by. His parents gave him the name H so that he could name himself, which he never did since he always went by Spencer. When Spencer told us his first name was H everyone started calling him “Hhhhaaaa”, “Heraldo”, “Horatio”, “Harriett”, etc.. He got called many different strange names that started with H, but everyone who called him these names were in our class and friends with him. So it was a fun run-on joke. At first he got kind of tired of it but by the end he loved the joke again and decided he wanted to keep his first name just the letter H.

I also had a neighbor who named her daughter Spencer. Lot’s of girls get named traditionally male names these days. I personally like Augustine for a girl even though it is a traditionally male name. My fiance likes the name Dante for a daughter.

  915. Some teachers I know always discuss the odd names they come across. 2 come to mind…1) Shithead, pronounced Sha-teed, I dont care how your say its, its just wrong to name your child ‘shit-head’; and 2) La-a, pronounced la-dash-a, yeah you actually say the word dash. Why not just name the child Ladasha?!?!
These ppl crack me up. Although my kids name is kind of different, but I don’t think it stands out, his name is Gage (pronounced like Paige but with a ‘G’).

  918. The strangest names… i know someone who has multiple names and we call her by whatever. When we first met her, she was Erica. The next day, she was Julia Rose. The next day, it was Drew. She just has a lot of names and we usually stick with Julia Rose (I just call her Julia) but even though i’ve known her for awhile, i still don’t know which one’s her real name….

  932. I think all names are beautiful and awesome in their own special way. Nobody deserves to hear that their name is ugly or strange or weird. My name is isnt very common and sometime I even get teased for it ( my last name is white which they think is racist) . So all in all the ugliest name I ever heard has never entered my ears and nor will it ever.
