i helped a girl that slipped on some snow
I gave my last $5 to a panhandler yesterday. Normally, I would not do this, but he had a sign stating that his family was in need and there was a woman sitting on the curb nearby. I do not have a job and I have no income.
I will be donating to Toys for Tots in memory of my late husband who was a U.S. Marine.
I will do what I have always done in the past. I have lung disease; but, when I am having a good day of breathing I have been helping elderly (meaning about my age of 62 years) people put their groceries inside their trunks or inside on the seats of their cars. Inside the store I help reach for items too high for a person riding in the store carts to reach. I let people with less items than I have or whatever reason in front of me in stores. And, in our little community I am engaged in watching out for me and each other. I help whenever I can possible help someone or I will go get someone to help me or someone else. We are all humans under the sun. ” Pay it Forward”!
Eat pizza with jeanette
i will refrain from biting people if i find out i have rabies, but i am not paying anybodys luggage fees
Nope my acts of kindness aren’t random, they are deliberate.
i shall go through the mcdonald’s drive through and buy the person’s meal behind me.
I tried an act of kindness, yesterday. It did not work. I went to McDonald’s restaruant and cut in front of a woman who was waiting to place her order. I thought the woman was just there working on Christmas decorations. When the cashier stopped me from ordering, the woman customer said no and let me go in front of her. I was touched by her kindness. I tried to pay for the woman’s order, but she refused to accept it.
I will do something nice. But it will not be “random”
I always look for the people on answers that really need someone to talk to. Then I try my best to make them feel better.
I will be helping folks out with their questions/understanding on yahoo answers, especially on the science and technology side where we seem to have a lot of kids with basic questions.
I know of a certain homeless man who sits outside a shop and asks people if they can spare any change. I felt bad last week (when I first saw him) because I didn’t have any change to give him, but next week I’m going to buy him a sandwich or something when I go in there, and maybe some gloves if they sell them because it’s so cold out there now.
I did it today.
Someone’s recycling wheelie bin outside had been blown over by the wind. So I picked it up when I saw it.
Bake cookies for the homeless for christmas
i donated some money for saving tigers from extinction , i also spent some time with mentally ill children teaching them good stuff .
I went over the Tapanzee Bridge in New York to visit my Aunt for Thanksgiving Dinner. It is my tradition to pay the $5.00 bridge toll for the person behind my car. Although this is something I do every Thanksgiving, that one person who receives this random act of kindness symbolizes the beginning of the Christmas spirit for me and my family.
Except for the one year where the person sped up to me and the passanger was hanging out the window waving dollar bills trying to get close to my car to pay me back–going 50 mph!! Oh great this kindness is going to cause a major car accident. I slowed down and lost myself in the traffic so this person would just go in their merry way!!
I will be helping at a local church that has opened its doors for homeless people to stay overnight during the snowy weather.
i donated 13 toys/books to deaf kids for Christmas and i am going to get more after i can fish up some change i have laying around
The past few days I have been talking to a new student and helping him find his way around the school. I’m very shy, so that was a huge thing for me. I love helping others, but my shyness tends to get in the way of that. I’m proud I didn’t let it do that this time. I would like to find more ways to help out in my community for the holidays. I have recently made holiday cards for soldiers, as well. I hope it brightens their day.
I help a 4 year old who doesnt got to school yet learn the things he needs to know for kindergarten.
I always wanted to say “Ladies First”
I’m going to volunteer at the humane society!
Sometimes a simple smile, hello, can make anyones day a better day. There are to many attitudes today, for no reason. If you have your health, share your strength, shed a smile. Maybe he or she will pass it on. It’s a good medicine.
I tend to be pretty kind to people in general, those I know and strangers.
I will just keep on doing what I have always done.
Every year I send 100 bucks to a person who did me a favor 6 years ago.
I send it without a return address and I mail it from another town.
It always makes me smile.
I am on foodstamps, but I am blessed to have a mother who took me and my son in. I still need them, but about twice a month I use it to donate food to charity at publix or I buy some canned good with an easy open top and give it to those I see on the street.
All of you good people here have not only resurrected my faith in mankind but encouraged me to do something positive for someone else. I’m not religious but in this case I will GOD BLESS all of you good people.
It is a wonderful thing to share what we have with our fellow man,or woman who is in need. I can remember a time when I needed help, and that special someone saw my distress. And through the eyes of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Saw my need, and answered my prayer.
I say thankyou for good hearts,Helping someone in need is helping yourself. Amen!
Pay for the person’s meal behind me at the drive thru.
I provided blankets, sheets, towels, money and some other basic household needs–all brand new to a family who just became homeless and is residing in a NYC shelter.
I feed the homeless cats when necessary
I helped financially others in need
It wasn’t this month, but just a couple of days ago I bought a man in a wheelchair, (he had no legs passed his knees) lunch. I do that as often as I can. Not that I am wealthy, but I probably have more than he does.
I’ll give $ and food away.
I always park in far parking lots at the post office and the store, so the elderly can park close and dont have to walk as far:)
something we often do, we preform at charity concerts and take 60% of the $ we make from playing guitar (tips in our case when we go somewhere) and sparky does allot to speak up against discrimination and harassment of people with special needs.
I work at Home Depot and there’s these 2 kittens that walk up to me as if they were lost. Well, as I’m waiting to get off, this lady walks up sees one of the kittens and asks if she can hae one. I gave her one of the kittens. I took one home and we’re watching it till tomorrow. Tomorrow night we’re giving him a my sisters friend. I couldn’t leave them there. I wouldn’t have been able to sleep =)
I gave some coffee roll to the AAA mechanic who came out in the rain to change my flat tire.
If I knew, it wouldn’t be random.
Acts of kindness, which I practice everyday and are not random would consist of common courtesy, manners, consideration, and understanding. An out of the usual act of kindness I will be doing tomorrow is reading to a kindegarten class. Then Saturday, I’ll be helping my team host a race on campus… although, that’s required by our coach.
I spent Thanksgiving day with my mom, and then I spent the weekend with my boyfriend. I cooked him dinner, gave him back massages, and did everything I could to show how much I love him.
Well what I’ll do? not so much but I stayed 2 days at the side of a stranger in hospital waiting for her family members to come and take her off my arms. She was in a bad car crash and yeah =) I think the smile on her face was more than worth that 48 hours.
I paid for my friends parking ticket, he hadn’t even asked
I have a stranger from McDonalds a blanket.
I will take care of myself and my family. If everyone else did the same, they wouldn’t have to rely on the kindness of others or the government.
I will Help someone today.
i climbed a mountain named schehallion with friends and family to raise money for the charity clic sargent in memory of my little brother who died of cancer three years ago, we raised £2380
I think its kinda sad that we need a month set aside 4 random acts of kindness. I try 2 do lots of nice things every day, even if its just opening a door 4 some1, or holding the elevator 4 another person 2 get on. Come on ppl im only 16!
I volunteer at a charity show every week for at least 5 hours. <3
I put food in bags and donated them to a refugee centre. i also sent them cards
What kind of culture do we live in when we need a special month in order to remind ourselves to be kind?
We live in a culture in which people avoid eye contact and who would much rather see you die on the street (it has happened!) than help you.
The fact that we need a kindness month speaks volumes about the kinds of characters our society produces. Having a kindness month won’t change that.
I will help our church set up for Christmas ceremonies.
I helped a totall stranger parrell park in baltimore city. She was having a tuff time and didnt want to hit the other car. so i guided her in safetly with hands genstures as I waited for a table to come aviable at a restaunt.
I will do as I do every month, help anyone in anyway that I am able. Sometimes helping them is by making it possible for them to do it themselves. We look up info on the computer together and find out what is availbable and do that. An act of kindness is often just moving out of the way in the grocery store when two carts collide and do it with a smile. My son just treated my shut in husbnd and me to a fast meal out of the blue. That was an act of kindness. A smile goes a long way to start someone else off for a happy day.
I have Fibro and I met a young woman at the Pharmacy who has Fibro and just had a hysterectomy for no good reason and it did not fix her pain. This is very common to happen to Fibros. I too came within 3 days of a radical hysterectomy just for abdominal pain. Then at the last minute a specialist I had emailed called me and determined over the phone that it was my bladder and he was RIGHT! Phew!
She had an Rx for a med she’d have to take for a long time, and when they told her the price she could not afford even 30 of them at $7 a piece. I happened to have 1000′s of them at home, since I no longer need them. But the Rx was on auto refill and they are so cheap I never cancelled the thing.
I gave her a 2 huge bottles of the 4 I had and a Fibro book about a protocol to help her Fibro as it did mine. I talked to her husband about the protocol and that he can get his wife back the way she was before the Fibro hit and I put my hand on his shoulder. He started to cry.
They lost their home and were all packed into a station wagon and were in the process of moving out and to another state to find work and a cheaper place to live than Chicago.
I ordered more of the meds and called her up hoping she’d not left yet. I asked her to come by. I decided to give her all I had: another 1000 + and all the money I had in the house. $40. I packed a bag with the items for her.
They have a preteen kid and a baby too. I can’t help but pray they find a place to live and that she gets better. Fibro is a horrible condition to have and it takes a long time to learn how to live with it.
She wanted to give ME money for the meds. I refused, and so she gave me her necklace. It was so beautiful I just started crying and hugged her and she didn’t know why I was crying! My God how can ya not cry?! She thought I had a problem and asked me what was wrong that I was crying about? I had to just tell her I was watching a soap opera. I can’t go and tell her I’m crying because I have great insurance, and am healthy in body and financially and I felt sorry for her. Those meds I gave her would’ve cost her $14,000 over the course of the next few years. They cost me $11.50 for the same amount. Is it illegal? Yup. But she did have an Rx so I knew it would at least be safe. I’ll take the federal rap if I have to for giving up my meds. But there was a reason I kept filling that Rx and it was for her. I was supposed to be in that pharmacy that day to help her.
I’m usually an atheist, but I wasn’t on that day. I only wish I could’ve saved her from the surgery she did not need.
I gave up my seat to an elderly women on the bus.
I absolutely try to do a r.a.o.k. every day. The key for me is not telling anyone about it, and then I know I did it for the “right” reasons, and not the praise, which sounds silly writing it out, but perhaps others will be so inclined. It’s as easy as giving a ride to someone, complimenting a person, handing over a few bucks or a hot coffee. Giving away a jacket to someone without one on the street. There are a million chances every day.
Thanks for supporting kindness. We need all we can get.
Septemeber: helped someone save their home
October: gave a significant number of Halloween shaped rubber bands for a community center, trick-or-treating subsitution party where a number of the kids are likely to have dietary restrictions
November: gave a realtively significant donation to a regional food bank organization
December: am weekly donating to workplace, adopt a family Christmas
On Going: am paying for someone’;s monthy meds
Probably do a number of minimal randoms that I don’t particularly recall. My goal for December is to remember to show kindness, give graces, and allow people to transfer lanes to other drivers when I’m out driving.
I will write the truth, be kinder to people at home, and change my country that is being destroyed by the world bullies.
Yesterday I saw a 17 year old guy bullying my girlfriend and trying to push her off a couple of steps. I went and got between them and walked away with her. He continued to follow me and said that he was going to knife us if she didn’t give him her boots (we were walking through snow). This was about 7 minutes after the first incident. Not knowing that I had already called the police, he took a knife out of his pocket and just in time and unmarked Expedition pulled up. A police officer got out and ordered him to the ground, but instead he ran away, and while running one of his boots flew off and hit him in the head! LOL He did get arrested. I was glad to be able to help her–I guess that’s what boyfriends are for.
I run an independent non-profit organization in my area, we soley operate for Christmas providing help to needy families with getting gifts for their children. It’s not exactly random but this is my yearly act of kindness.
If I tell you ahead of time it will cease to be random. I prefer to try to be nice to people I run across each day instead of plan my random acts.
Earlier this week I donated a teddy bear for the Tommy Toy Fund at my school. My friend and I also invited a random lonely freshman to sit with us during lunch. We love you our new friend!!!
I bought 2 Christmas dinner special boxes from my local parish of angel food which will feed a family for 4 for 1 week
I am donating one of those to another family in need ( anonymously )
I work at a preschool, and I made little stocking stuffer bags for all of my co-workers. We’ve had a pretty stressful year, so I thought it would be a little sweet surprise for them. I bought little bags, filled them with candy, and bought the scented clip on fragrances from bath and body works. They can use them in their cars, etc. I made sure to ask what scents they liked before hand of course.:)
Visited old teachers during Hannukah and I give my favorite old teachers Ukrainian chocolates as a gift and told them how much I appreciate them for being such great teachers…
i can’t give any bills but i’ll do my best on helping which ever way it is as long as i can manage to help….i always say thank you and smiles to everyone around me that i think is one act of kindness
I plan on donating trkey’s to the food bank and I am also going to but a few gifts for chldren who have parents that can’t afford to.
i will help someone out in whatever they need help in that i can do
I don’t really know how being kind can be random..unless your just that full of yourself? I don’t know what I’ll do this month, but it will be kind. :]
I just started to( volunteer) work at a resale shop, the profits are used for pets in need. We also use the profits to help people that have low or no income to have a pet.
Food for pet and vet bills. If someone comes into shop that needs something and don’t have the money or not enough, I usually will buy it for them. That way I am helping in three different ways. some of the pets we get in are really abused. I also have three cats that probably would be dead now as they were strays. They are warm now and eat everyday.
i took my kids to Denny’s and i hardly touched my food. i was hungry before getting there but when i got my food, wasn’t hungry any more. any way when we left i asked for a box 2go. as we were walking home there was a homeless old lady… she didn’t seem like the crazy or drudged out type. i dont give pan handles any thing cuz they’ll just use it on something stupid. as soon as i saw her, something told me “she ken use a lil help” im the kind of person who looks for “signs” in life so i took my sudden change in petite as and the fact that she caught my attention with out making eye contact or even looking toward my direction as a sign…. she was just minding her own biz. any way, i gave her bag were i had the 2go plate and i told her.. “its food, do u want it?” she said nothing and took it…. when i looked back, she wus all over it lol she was real hungry lol poor thing…oh, i have the habit of putting my change inside the bag of purchases…i couldn find it so i guess she did lol
I do as much as I can everyday.
Not exactly random kindness, but this time of year I save for giving donations in memory of loved ones — books to the library for my librarian grandmother, clothes and household items to the refugee center for the refugee grandparents, toys to Toys for Tots for my little nephew, etc. It’s not huge, but it’s a nice to think that in a way they’re still contributing to causes they believed in or paying forward kindnesses they received.
A group of my friends at church and I collected Christmas cards and put them in bundles of five to give away at the local food bank along with our food donations so that people who can’t afford cards can use them.
Also two days ago a kid outside the library asked me for some money. I didn’t have any. I asked and he told me that he was hungry. I gave him an orange and a bag of potato chips because that’s what I had on me.
I went grocery shopping and bought several bags of non perishable groceries that I donated to the Salvation Army in my community. Volunteers then organized the foods in beautiful baskets to give to families in need. On Thanksgiving Day I served and helped clean up after a beautiful meal, prepared by members of the Salvation Army. It was joyous for everyone. This was a planned action. I plan on doing something similar at Christmas, and throughout the next year.
On behalf of our planet, I wish to say thank you to all of you beautiful people for your kind generosity. Your acts of kindness can only make the world a better place plus will also bring much joy into your own lives. For my part, I fed five people on Thanksgiving day. I also gave warm food and a blanket to a homeless man. I took the time to speak with him. He was so happy that he cried. This week-end, I’m cooking rice and beans for my neighbors and I will also sing for them. Giving is the key to happiness. Let us give unconditionally because we’re here to help one another. It always comes back to us.
We don’t even have to cook rice and beans for the entire town. Any small gesture will do. For instance: a simple smile, a compliment, holding the door for someone, allow a person to go first in the supermarket line because they only purchase one item, feeding the neighbor’s dog when she’s away, checking on an elderly neighbor who lives alone. There is so much we can do to help, not only during the holidays, but each day of the year. Helping others is very good for us. We benefit just as much a the ones we help. Thank you so much for giving. God bless you!
I do many things, just yesterday i saw a homeless old man sleeping in front of my house at 2 a.m. I gave him some food and a sum of 30 rupees. Then today i gave 100 rupees to charity.I am planning to open a website for the sake of educating people about acts of kindness.
And will also start a campaign in my neighbourhood about recycling.
I’ve taken a young man into my home with a criminal record and drug abuse history. His family can’t handle him anymore and he is frequently homeless. I know this sounds dangerous but I believe he deserves a chance.
Good morning.
Well, I’d personally like to think that random acts of kindness happen daily instead of just once a year around the holidays. People are in need of help daily. My personal random act has been to help children get cleft palate surgery. They send you before and after photos of their bright and endearing smiles. ♥ (And a sparkle in their eyes.)
I offered my seat in a crowded bus to an elderly person.
My daughter has friends who have a 2 1/2 yr old and a 1yr old. They are young and realize they started out too young. In this economy with both of them working they have just enough for the very basics. They will have no Christmas so I am buying toys for each of the kids and making them outfits.
I am donating food to the food drive at my son’s elementary school.
We have given snow boots and a coat to a little boy that doesn’t have any.
I always let people cut in front of me.
I don’t kill rude people I accept that I don’t know what they are dealing with and they they may not know any better or realize how they are acting.
I am praying for everyone to have the opportunity to care for themselves and others emotionally and financially.
I will allow my verbally abusive mother in law in my home to visit with her son and not say a word to her when she ignores her grandson.
I will go recycle and free-cycle everything we don’t need or want anymore to try to help others and the earth.
I will do my best and yet always have in the back of my mind that what you put out there comes back so I will try to only put out good things.
I perform acts of kindness everyday by not eating meat or wearing animal skins.
I will not partake in the exploitation, abuse or slaughtering of animals.
I don’t know what I will be doing this year but, I was reading the other comments and it warms my hear to know that there are still people who care out there
Happy Holidays!
What I do every day. This is something we should strive for. Looking out for people, helping anyone we can, being corteous, honest and kind to all. Not randomly or once a year, but as part of our daily life. Sometimes a smile or lending an ear is enough for someone who is going through difficulties or sad.
Example: A few days ago a lady was paying at the cashier in front of me for some items and dropped a $50 bill. No one else was around and cashier did not notice. I could have kept the money and let her walk out of the store…but I didnt. She was so thankful ! God only knows how much she needed that money!
We must remember that kindness breeds kindness in turn, and ALL of us could certainly use it.
I saw a homeless man living in the same spot in the park for two days in a row. I went home and brought him a jar of peanut butter. I left in next to him so he could find it when he woke up. I don’t know if that did him any good. He might be allergic. I hope I didn’t kill him.
Now if I planned on doing anything it wouldn’t be very random, would it?
I’ll let you know at the end of the month.
Well I know its not much but, me and my daughter are making christmas cards for the geriatric patients at my work.
I helped feed some homeless people with my church youth group
Me nd the kids in my class raised $125 to Hopes Children Hospital nd donated some toys to them as well (:
Give five dollars to a random passerby walking down my street. Sounds weird, but all of a sudden I’m in this joyful giving mood for taking other people into consideration. I see no need for selfishness
I went to the local nursing homes and asked after the residents who have no family near or around. I shop for small gifts, fuzzy socks, gloves, hat, a box of candy or chocolates. Maybe something the nurses say they need or desire and make up a *secret santa* gift for them on christmas morning. It lights up their eyes to know someone still thinks of them
Today as my mom and I were doing some holiday shopping we saw this elderly man, he was at least 80+. He walked up to us looking so worried because he had been waiting for his ride to pick him up, but he didn’t really know where his ride was. He asked us if he could pay to use our phone to call his ride, but we refused the money and quickly called for him. Only problem is, he had the wrong number. I called so many numbers trying to find the right one, while he was sitting there upset because he felt like an embarrassment. I had to comfort him, and allow him to know that its not his fault. We contacted one of the stores workers who quickly made a call over the intercom for his ride. Thankfully, his ride was on the lower level looking for him also. It upset me that so many people walked past him, but maybe it was ment just for me to be there with him. You never know how you can impact someone’s life by just helping, if you get the chance DO IT!
I’m gonna help the people whose homes were burned in north israel.. they will crash at my place
I help everyone I know. Spend time. Talk on the phone. Give things they need. All the time. I do what i can do to help in any situation.
Bring a toy to a store for “Toys for Tots.”
I did what i enjoy doing ever year, I took the money i saved the whole year to Salvation Army and put it in the donation box.
Christmas is a great time to help people but it shouldn’t just be Christmas if everyone took the time to help someone this world would be a better place.
I will try and smile at harried shoppers and clerks and definitely at fussy children to help everyone calm down and feel better.
I cleared the snow off of 3 coworkers cars after work:)
I work at Burger King, and we have a little Christmas tree in the front with all of these foster kids’ names on them, along with a list of three things they want for Christmas, things as simple as a blanket or toiletries. I grabbed two.
I am polite in rush hour traffic and make room for others.
help every day for those strugling
Even though I’m a broke college student, I used my piggy bank savings to buy toys and other goodies for the kids at the hospital where I volunteer.
There was a man sitting at a medium traffic intersection. His cardboard sign said “Testing Random Acts of Kindness”. I had just bought more than 20 tacos from Taco Bell and so I gave him some.
The same stuff I do all year.
I always hold the door, whether it be elevator, at a mall, or wherever I happen to be, for the next people(when there are people approaching).
Anytime I’m in a store and I see someone is having trouble reaching something, I offer to help.
Anytime a friend needs someone to talk to, whether it’s to vent, or out of sheer loneliness, I’m willing to put what I’m doing on hold and listen.
When I pay with cash in a store, I typically give the change to whatever charity is outside the store.
I don’t have a job, and am a full-time college student, so money is scarce, but for something different, I’ll stop by Toys ‘R’ Us, buy some toys and just put ‘em
all in the Toys For Tots bin at the front of the store. Granted, it won’t be $20 toys or anything extravagant.
If everyone would donate just 1 toy(even a $5 or $6 doll or action figure), I doubt any kids in need would be going without a present. I’ll pick up the slack for at least 3 people(at least 4 total toys), just have to see how far I can stretch my disposable budget to see exactly how many I’ll get.
That’s a quick and easy way everyone could do some good. Plus it’s operated by “The few, the proud, the Marines”.
I’ll support my friends through the hard times they’re having and for a few, hopefully get them to stop cutting themselves
gotten 3 to stop so far! Plus the usual donating to the Salvation Army and to Toys for Tots
There is a big fire in the north of Israel right now and i live in the center of Israel.i went there to help people who live there:)
I cleaned the front yard (1,000 sq. ft.) of a Senior Center
in Rockville Centre NY (Nassau County) without being asked. I had leaves, broken bottles and tree limbs all over the front area – it was a terrible sight!
So, instead of talking about it I wanted to be about it. I immediately went inside and requested what they had for the clean-up of the area. They said we can’t pay you and I clearly stated that I was ‘PlantHero’ and the front flowerbed and yard needs my help…of course NO CHARGE!
I pumped fuel for an old lady who’s husband just passed and she had no idea how to do it!
I’m going to donate money to this hospital I go to. =)
im donating food to the homeless
I do RAK’s all the time, not just once a month or at x-mas time. Every time I got to my local Petco I donate either at the register or I buy food for homeless dogs and drop it in their bin. A few weeks ago I went to Target and bought a $100 worth of toys and donated them to the Spark of Love. There was this one homeless lady that was living on the steps of my post office and every week for about a year I would go take her some hot food and spend some time talking to her, she was a really cool and interesting lady, then one day she was gone ( I hope she is ok.). I let people with one or two items get in front of me at the grocery store. If every body was just a little more polite or cared a little more about someone else we wouldn’t need to have a month designated as the “random act of kindness month”, because we would already be living it!
kindness is mighty and is a source of helping and growing humanity true people with true hearts, kindness with tears is a gift of god,may peace and kindness b forever.
I don’t know yet. I mean how can it be random if I plan it ahead?
Every year in school we use to collect winter clothes, toys and canned food and distribute it among needy people near railway station, slums and near temples. It fells so good. The more the no. of happy people, the better is feeling of joy of festive seasons. Happy Holidays!
I will donate my heart and my soul to help my son’s friend beat cancer.
reading these comments makes me feel positive. its nice to see that most people have big hearts. i just wish we were all more positive all year round. i always try to help people, as well as animals. i always give what spare change i have to this homeless guy that stands on my freeway off ramp. i have rescued many animals this year that would certainly have died if it were not for me. and i basically just try to be a good and positive person all year round. hopefully when the time comes, and my life is all but done, i can look back and be happy knowing that in some way i have helped out others. its a very good feeling to help someone in need. the thing is, back in the day when i was down on my luck, i would always feel bad when my friends or family tried to help me out, i feel like im being a burden. so hopefully the people i try to help dont feel this way. thats why sometimes its best to just be a good person. you know, smile and say hello to strangers, or hold a door open for someone. just random nice things that dont cost anything. anything we can do to help is great and it makes everythng just feel nicer. have a nice christmas and happy holiday everyone. god bless us all
I have a lovely trusted penpal on facebook, whenever i go shopping i always buys her a item like a fairy for her christmas tree or a bottle of perfum, we have known each other 2 years come christmas this year, he is not much older than me,she always appreciates anything i buy her. i love her a great deal, i am not buying her friendship. he has helped me a great deal whenever i am on chat we chat to one another for 2 hours, she has a very sympathetic ear. i never forget her birthdays or christmas. she used to be married but been a widower for quite some time, when she writes to me in a postal letter she feels so sorry with sadess has she can’t afford to give me gifts, i have told her many times that her loyalty and friendship with kindness is my gift from her, one day i have to met her and have a great long chat and a good laugh, she has a lovely sense of humour and wit, she finds me very funny.I have said to her if i get a lot of money i would give her some of it,
I recently found the website “sixbillionsecrets.com,” an anonymous site for people to share the things with strangers that bother them, anger them, depress them, or even those that make them stop and smile. Hundreds of these messages were about people who were so incredibly upset over something in their life, that they were planning or had already attempted suicide. But in addition, many of them said that a perfect stranger stopped them by doing one nice thing for them, giving them a compliment, or even just a smile. Since that day, I’ve made it my duty to say one really nice thing to a stranger every day, because I don’t know who out there is struggling, and I may just make a difference, however insignificant, in their life.

After stopping in at the local dog kennel in regards to boarding & grooming my 2 Siberian Huskies I noticed that the kennel owners had about 10-12 recent rescued dogs there. I went out and bought 3 big bags of foods for them as the majority of them sure looked hungry!
Merry Christmas doggies……..
Last week as i was walking back home from the supermarket i live close to { went there to get some salami }, i saw a black and white stray dog. The poor thing was so thin you could see its spine and its ribs. So i gave him some of my salami which he ate in practically a second.
I decided to bring him home(: i quickly made a run to the supermarket again to get some dog food. When i went to the place where i saw the dog, he was still there. He was light enough to carry so i carried him home.
Malaki has visited the vet and is doing very well now
He’s the sweetest most gentle dog ever. Love him
I saved some money for myself to buy some stuff and ended up donating it. I donated US $5215 to an organization for children. It was under very strange circumstances but in the end felt very happy that I did it and I can however buy the stuff I need after I save for some more time.
I gave my frequent flier miles on United to the Make a Wish Foundation.

The movie play it forward is a good example of the way people should be, but it’s thier own greed that keeps them from doing it, or wanting to..Alot of people get more excitement out of taking away from others, rather than help them..Look at your gas companies for instance..Any excuse to take away from the people to fill thier own Pockets..GREED.
i wish i didt do anything good for peoples around me. But when i can i alwys help elder peoples, i help them with a little money
I will donate all the clothes that don’t fit me to Purple Heart

I will be sending gifts overseas to our troops! Every single one of them would appreciate a card saying happy holidays…..!
I took the trash out for the elderly woman so she wouldn’t have to go up & down the stairs. I didn’t think she needed to when I was already there all I had to do was walk over & throw her trash. Now every time she sees me & my kids she tells me how nice of a lady I am. I was just trying to help keep her from making an unnecessary trip…
I bought some cat and dog food to be donated to seniors who stuggle with the cost of feeding their pets and as a result share their Meals-On-Wheels dinner with the pet instead of eating it themselves.
“Toys for Tots” I have done it every year since I was around six, so for ten years now. It makes me realize that there are those who need help, even in my fairly wealthy community. I love making them smile with even the smallest toys for theirr children, and then suprising them with somethin big like a bike.
Go on tumblr, and help people with their problems by listening to them.
I adopted an Angel through the Salvation Army and went shopping for him today.
I walked/ran 3.5km in the dark to see my girl and gave her a hug.
I will do anything I can to help people that have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer.Being a breast cancer survivor myself I know the fear that a woman goes through when she is first told she has breast cancer.

Wow, I just read this entire list.
buy my teacher a christmas gift to show her how much I appreciate her.
I donated blood, does that count? It’s not really a random act, but it goes to a random person.
I gave a girl my favorite purple pen, that matched perfectly with my purple planner, and told her to keep it.
My mom and I gave the crossing guard at a local school bright colored mittens. She is older and always smiles and waves at everyone passing by, a real pleasure to see every morning. In the Houston area, it’s not very cold yet, but we do have the occasional cold morning. She has been out waving in the cold AM lately and we thought gloves might be nice.
My kiddos and I will be giving to Toys for Tots and to our local pet shelter, Special Pals, to help out the kids and pets in need.
Happy Holidays to all!
Volunteered at my church today for our Annual Bake Sale. It was fun and think that I connected an nice Italian lady with one of our church volunteers to teach her some knitting!

I will hold the door for someone. Buy coffee or hot chocolate for someone who is in the cold. thank an officer, a fireman, my family and friends. I will stop for someone stuck in the snow. I will start a snow ball fight with the kids in the neighborhood with they have nothing to do. I will make chicken soup when my loved ones are sick. I will pick up a piece of litter. I will get Mrs Jackson’s mail so her 94 year old legs wont have to. will continue to smile at others and be thankful to see the morning light….
I work in Customer Service, everyday I do do acts of kindness, constantly – its my job.
I will pray for world peace and change,
also be kind to followers on Yahoo answers,
there are so many troubled people on this
social network that are seeking understanding
and solutions. I wish them all God speed
this Christmas season.
I traveled 250 miles to take a photo of my friend’s child’s grave stone who died of cancer at age 9. She has moved away and is no longer near the cemetary where her child is buried. I framed it and am giving it to her for Christmas.
I was at the gas station, filling up my tank to take a ride this past weekend, I noticed a little beat up car parked in front of me and I could hear the couple kinda arguing how much gas they should put in there car, I noticed a little baby in the car seart. He walked over to the quik teller to enter 3.00 machine to pay for the gas. I dont have much money but I have been there before and I realized that now is the time to react, without a saying a word I said here let me help you, I inserted a 20.00 bill into the machine and he inserted a 1.00 bill. I walked away, The boy went to the girl in the back seat of the car and told her just what had happened. She jumped from the car and ran and gave me a big hug with tears in her eyes. I was like wow, what one little thing I could do to brighten there day.
..
At work when one co-worker falls behind on their work load we all take our turn in helping one another catch up being that we run on strict time-lines and deadlines for our work assignments to be completed. Sometimes 2 of us will pitch in if needed at the same time to help another co-worker and vice versa if I ever need help. This happened today and yesterday. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that others have your back when you fall behind for whatever reason. We’re there for one another. Now that’s team work.
i believe one mans kidness come from the heart
My kindness is for everyone..however there is one that has done me a grave wrong this year. I’m forgiving him of what he’s done and freeing not only my soul but his. Sometimes, the greatest act of kindness you can give those who are your enemy-forgiveness…
i was at the store and a guy was standing outside ringing a bell. he was there from salvation army and i donated $5♥
I won’t do anything. People arent kind to me.
I am so glad that I don’t need or have to wait for someone to direct me to a particular ‘month’ in which I need to show kindness to others. I was taught this act when I was a very small child, and I have continued it throughout my life and have also taught my daughter to be kind to others. “Random’” acts include many things that people do throughout a day – fortunately, we don’t have to ‘count’. My acts of kindness start with a smile, a “hello’, or other comments that are meant to encourage someone in their day. I am a teacher, and have found many books for sale, or given that I keep in the trunk of my car. I keep “$1.00 bills on me often for the sake of children. I stop them in grocery stores and talk with them and when the SPIRIT leads me, I often give away money to bless people. I have paid the bill for someone’s groceries and sent them on their way. I have stopped in the rain and passed out umbrellas to walkers, or even asked them if they would allow me to take them to their destination. I use caution, of course, but not yet, has anyone attempted me harm. I give to food banks, I sing and play piano at homeless shelters during and after holidays, I serve at nursing homes, singing and playing music for the elderly. I teach reading and writing to those who are unable. I write letters for those who cannot. I write poetry and read books and magazines as well as the Bible to others. I spend time in the Children’s hospital playing music and games with them. I give to the Ronald McDonald House and sit with parents who have children in the cancer wards. I do laundry and pray with them. I give clothes and other items away to the needy. I cook and serve chili, or soup or anything I have to others. I am involved in my church where much of these acts are provided. We recently suffered a huge flood and I was involved in helping folks who were displaced. I paid for a hotel for a family to stay a couple nights….I could go on and on, but I don’t want to sound as though I am superwoman or anything – I am just doing what I was placed here to do. I believe that we all can do something – these days – just speaking to people is a blessing – nobody has time to stop and smell the roses. I do.
I’m hoping that to get the value of each Christmas Gift I get this year donated to the troops!
I will give a small but grate gift of kindness. So far, I have set up a committee in my school that has raised over 6,000 dollars for breast cancer, and we are currently raising money to buy supplies to ship countries in need. Or goal of money to be raised by the end of this school year is 2,000,000 dollars. Last school year we achieved a total of about 1,500,000 dollars.
I was driving out to my grandmother’s farm yesterday, when I see a hitchhiker walking down the road. Turns out, it was a kid I had Auto Shop with my junior year. I guess his family kicked him out and he dropped out of high school, and had been hopping from town to town, trying to find work. He’d told me he’d been walking from Turner, OR (6 miles south of Salem) to Portland, a distance of about 65 miles. He’d been walking since 8:30 that morning with nothing but a beat up longboard and the clothes on his back. When I got to him, he was a little under halfway there, and it was 5:30 at night.
So, I told him to get in the truck, and I drove him all the way to Portland, and didn’t want anything in return. For Christmas, I’m gonna make him a portable camp kit (the one I made for me fits an entire campsite, plus three days worth of food and water, into a small bag that weighs less than two pounds). His might be a little bigger, seeing as I keep mine just in case, and his will probably see more use, but still, it’ll be good for him to have.
I’ve been giving up my paycheck to buy food, drinks, and guitar strings for my ex boyfriends band.
Now I have no money for my own food, and spare money for gas.
My ex never has anything nice to say to me anymore.he insults me,calls me names, rolls his eyes at me,and ignores me.
But the other band members are so kind, that I don’t mind being treated like trash by 1 person.
euthenising infants and the elderly
Thanks all the people who have left messages before me.
Really it shouldn’t be 1 act of kindness, but countless numbers. I try to do as many kind things as I can, not for notoriety but just because I truly love helping others. I have read some of the peoples acts of kindness and I think if there were more people like them this world would be a much better place.
Well I bought and helped a mentally disabled woman decorate a Christmas tree only to have my car towed from her apartment complex at 6pm costing me $145.
They failed to notify the tenants they changed the time from after 11 pm to after 6 pm.
Trying to fight back has caused everyone to turn against me including the lady herself. (for she fears my approaching the complex management will cause her problems)
For no one cared I was helping a senior decorate a tree.
After this ordeal and many in the past I am not feeling charitable at all.
Bah humbug.
I always pick up trash that is in my path, walking anywhere. To my mailbox, in a parking lot, etc. I mean there’s always a trash can within feet of someone’s can or wrapper, come on people! Just throw it away
I was outside in town for hours and collected money for children in Haiti on my birthday!
An act of kindness does not always mean giving something or so. Since I too don’t have much, one of the things that i can give is a SMILE. It is very contagious, thatif you smile to a person you do not know, they may smile back at you or not. But there are times when this happens, after you passed by they will smile thinking WHY? I also do that.haha. Even the simplest things can make a big difference.
I helped a blind man cross this very bumpy icy patch that his guide dog was unable to take him across today. It was nothing that somebody else wouldnt have done but Im sure it made all the he appreciated my help.
I’m going to fill a stocking for the Salvation Army.
I wrote three letters to our soldiers. I rallied 15 friends and family to write letters through “letter for lyrics”. I also bought as many toiletries as I could afford to be sent over. I plan on writing a couple more letters and maybe penpal. And of course, my prayers are always with them.
I’m volunteering at United Way/ The Salvation Army on thursday
I’m going to carry an extra $50 in my wallet for the next time between now and Christmas I have a waitress that looks like she needs it. I’ll hide it under a $1 as I walk out and smile because I know somebody else needs it more than I do.
I work in the downtown of a major city. There is a restaurant there which has been around forever, it’s a lot like a deli you still might find in NYC. It has mainly elderly customers who are loyal, along with the work crowd.
I passed by a few days before Thanksgiving last year and saw an elderly gentleman sitting there, eating. He looked like he was not too well off and was sitting alone and it made me so sad because there were only two other customers sitting elsewhere and he was all alone.
The next day he was there again, eating dinner. I went inside and spoke to the manager who told me the man’s name and that he had dinner there every night. I started to tear up; was he a widower? Did he have anyone to care for him?
At first I was just going to buy dessert for the man (as he was still eating dinner). But then a rush of love came over me and I asked the manager if I could purchase a gift certificate and he said yes. I Bought one for $25. I think the manager could tell it meant something to me because he asked me if I would like to write a note. I did, using the man’s name and wrote, “May you have a wonderful Thanksgiving; know that someone cares about you. Love, a Friend.”
I’ve been inspired by the lady who pays the toll for the car behind her at Thanksgiving as a way to mark the start of the Christmas season…. I am going to start a tradition like that too!
Also something that costs nothing is thanking the Salvation Army bell ringers for volunteering. Especially in the colder climates it’s appreciated. Every year I offer to buy the bell ringer some cocoa/hot apple cider/coffee and they always look surprised and say yes and when I bring them the hot beverage they always have such a smile on their face and very much appreciate it.
A few days before Christmas about 14 years ago I was very depressed as my boyfriend at that time ended our relationship (now that I am older I realize that was a good thing). I was stressed out over this and sick to my stomach so I went to a store to get something for it.
It was snowing like crazy — a heavy, wet snow and the parking lot was filled with slush about 4′ deep.
I came out of the store and ahead of me was a lady who had two 24 packs of soda on the bottom rack of her cart. I could see it was slipping off and told her so. I bent down to help her and she was all normal when I did that. We were near her car and I was about 25 at the time and she was probably double that, so I offered to lift them into her trunk. She accepted and when I did her eyes filled with tears and she began to cry. She said, “I really needed someone to be nice to me today. I am on my way to visit my mother; she is very sick and won’t live much longer. Thank you so much for being kind to me.” You can imagine I started crying just as bad as she was. I gave her a big hug and told her I would pray for her and her mom. I wish I had given her my name and number and told her to call me if she needed to talk; that is one of my big regrets in life. Sometimes I wonder if she was an angel sent by the Lord to show me that my problem was small and to put it in perspective.
I am kind to the Earth. I never eat fast food and am a vegetarian.
I will go out on christmas eve and hand out $100 to random people going into the dollar tree and wal-mart. I do this every year dressed as an elf.
i gave $80 to a random person online
i helped a woman with one child in arms pushing stroller w other arm,to open a door for her and held the door.her baby just got her shots from doctor,no one else even attemped to help her.
I just want to smile at as many strangers as I can, and make someone’s day like I would want someone to make mine. (:
Every year my entire family (parents, siblings, aunts & uncles, plus cousins) pick a family to help. My mother & two of my aunts are the primary organizers. We aren’t a rich family but we are all middle class so when you add us all together we can go a long way.
After Hurricane Katrina we chose a family in New Orleans. My father, an electrician by trade, went down to New Orleans when Habitat for Humanity first started rebuilding. The first family we helped don’t want/need any financial help this year. Because they are doing so well now!
How did we pick one family out of so many in need? Again Habitat for Humanity. It’s a great organization! You know any family that has earned a home (that’s right, the families work hard to get their homes) deserves it. My younger sister & I are giving an Xbox 360 with the new Kinect, plus games. Plus the game Black Ops-my husband’s personal contribution.
I am so glad that my parents gave us kids such a wonderful tradition. A tradition that I will continue with my children. Once I get a little free time to actually have my own kids, that is!
I’m young in the eyes of most, but I find this to be awesome. Reading through I’m glad to see so many others reaching out and helping people. I always attempt to help people but I really can’t financially because I’m 17 without a job and I focus on school for the time being. This past year though I have done quite a bit. I have served at the food shelter multiple times this year. I also helped collect over 15,000$ for Jerry’s kids. The one thing that I did though that I will never forget is being a counselor at a muscular dystrophy camp. That really was a life changing experience for me. When I left I was thinking you know it’s just something good for me to do. I had a chance to go help others that haven’t been given the same opportunity as me. Boy was I wrong, I feel like they helped me way more than I ever could have helped them. To see kids like that with hearts so big. I really just couldn’t even believe it. I built many relationships with those kids and it’s sad to think that next year some of them may no longer be with us. I couldn’t even believe how happy they were. Even with the hand they were dealt they made the best of it and every one of them had a smile on their face the whole time. Then look at me. I’m given everything, I have had no actual issues my whole life and I complain over stupid things. Bottom line is they really showed me how blessed I am and how to make your life happy and positive.
If there are any camps in your area I really suggest going to one. It will change your life I promise you that.
Kindness to others is the key to your own happiness. Pay it forward.
I am sending 10,000 cards overseas to soldiers, 9,000 I made personally. I am also sending 1,000 cards to patients in hospitals in my area.
I will reverse pickpocket someone so i will put money in someone’s pocket and a note saying they have been reverse pickpocketed and to please do the same to someone else. (:
I would use recyclable bags when I buy something

We shouldn’t only think one thing one month.
You should just do kind things everytime you can just for the sake of it.
If we all did that, the world would be a slightley easier place to live in, and we would all get along alittle better.
My aunt and uncle needed $230 down payment to get there water back on. They needed to pay at least half of the amount just to get their water turned back on. I have no idea how much the bill was, but it was in my heart to give them the $230 because they took me in as a child. They sacrificed so much for me over the years. There my parents. In return, that’s the least I could do for them.
I buy doughnuts once a month for my coworkers, always have and always will. If your RAC is that random, maybe its not the RAC everyone is thinking about.
I am answering questions on Yahoo Answers! Taking time out of my life to help people solve their problems.
I’m not doing anything special this month, because it shouldn’t be something done for a specific month… just like Valentine’s day. Celebrate love and kindness year round, not because a candy company or website tells you to.
Our housemaid needed the money for her grandson’s funeral. Poor child, he was only a baby… So I gave her a part of my allowance and my condolences. Though she’s a housemaid, she’s very nice and she does her job well. I just feel sad that she has to spend the christmas without her grandson.
Me and my spouse bought relief clothes as Christmas present for my impoverished relatives and sharing a part of our sale of liniment to church. I hope people share their wealth to the people who needed it most.
Im making a hamper for a family that just lost a young dad and Im getting my friends to help me make another for the family of a mum that died three years ago. Everyone brings things for the first few weeks .. I want to keep it going .
I’ll buy, wrap and deliver packages to a local nursing home for the holidays and also contribute extra staple foods to our local food bank and area ministry pantry. I contribute the staples year ’round. I also try to smile and greet people by name…each smile is a little gift. Holiday cheers to all.
It was cold and dark, and the guy in front of me in line at a grocery store was only buying pickles. Well he forgot his wallet so I paid for them.
Re-post this in like June or July around a time when people forget that others are suffering. In December everyone is doing stuff. You have the guy with the bell at every store, the restaurants giving free food away, the soup kitchens getting a flood of volunteers, the christmas charities, toys for kids, clothes drive, can food drives, but all of this only happens at this time of the year. It is like everyone forgets that there are people needing help every time of the year, not just christmas.
My children and I went to feed the homeless. We made sandwiches, included a snack and a drink. We also gave out gallon zip lock bags of HBA items that included things like toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.
It was so humbling and felt good to help others. I don’t have a lot of money, but I don’t want/need anything . I am very fortunate and it felt awesome to help someone else.
I will pray.
I am going to call my local recruiting office to find out how to mail letters to our troops overseas, it may be too late for Christmas, but a letter of support of any kind will I am sure be appreciated. They go, regardless of their personal beliefs, to protect our very freedom that this country was founded upon.
Mine is no so random but i carry one fives and tens with me in a small quick access pouch for street people the random part comes in because you never know when you will see some person on the street and how much time you have in traffic to give them anything It started for me when i was a professional driver in Phoenix I say a pregnant your girl with one leg on crutches standing on a by pass corner turn. I stopped and gave her some money and the cars behind me honked as if their thirty seconds of waiting was some how more important that helping this your girl. She told me that her had lost her leg in a motorcycle accident and that when she got pregnant her mother locked her out of the house it was obvious that she had been crying and it was 112 degrees out. She could not move faster enough t get to some of the drivers that were offering money. I went back later that day in between clients and got her directions to a shelter for the night and gave her a bit more money and she cried because she was so scared and grateful at the same time. Since that time whenever i see anyone on the street with a little cardboard sign I give them money It is not my business why they want it or how they spend it it just seems like the right thing to do and it make me feel a bit less helpless about trying to help the large numbers that are on the streets for whatever reason.
