I am the parent of an 18 year old daughter who suffers with idiopathic hypersomnia, which is a medical description for someone who sleeps excessively but for no known reason. I’ve had to pull her out of school during her senior year in high school, ask our insurance company to consider her a disabled dependent and take her to countless doctors to try to find a treatment or cure. There’s so little known about sleep disorders that it’s hard to find help, yet this “diagnosis” is more common than narcolepsy. I think there are a huge number of people, especially teenagers, who suffer with this affliction and feel isolated, exhausted and alone. I think it would be a great subject for a blog. Perhaps it can bring together some of these people for a greater sense of normality.

I love teaching and having students around me most of the day. I have found that my instruction extends far beyond my academic criteria and often dives deeply into other life issues such as: etiquette, bullying, how to mediate, friendships, honesty, loyalty, and just how to get along in life in general. I would love to blog or see blogs for students that deal with specific subjects to help them. I have found it so strange that many parents are not aware of what their own children face on a daily basis, but the teachers they trust do. The blog should be something to help the students and the parents come together in better equipping them to communicate.

This is great! I have always “dreamed of being famous”, and fame brings money. Blogs written for a big site like Yahoo should bring in the riches, because, well, it’s Yahoo. Which brings me to the question: How much mula is Yahoo paying us to blog with our expertise and time?
