Sugary, sweet, indestructible Peeps
Whether you celebrate Easter or not, there’s one thing about this time of the year that everyone can take advantage of: the candy.
And nothing says Easter like the marshmallow-y and sugary sweet treat, Peeps.
But did you know that scientists have actually proven that these sugary sweet delights are essentially indestructible. It’s true. You can read about it here.
Scientists aren’t the only ones with a fierce fascination with these sparkly, sweet treats—the Answers community has one too—you all have asked questions about these sweet delights, ranging from things like “Do different colored peeps have different flavors?” to “Is there religious significance in the candy called Peeps?”
People are fascinated by these gooey, sparkly treats—why, we find ways to celebrate them in a variety of ways: through costumes, “Peep Show Dioramas” hosted by the Washington Post, and even through Do-it-Yourself Peep recipes.
Yes, it’s safe to say that come Easter, no matter what religion you are, you’re bound to pick up or come across a box of Peeps—even if it’s just to toss them in the microwave to watch them expand exponentially. Enjoy, and don’t forget to come back here and share your favorite Peep recipes and questions with the Answers community!

Most of all, my friend and I like throwing them in the Microwave! We try it on various plates, in various amounts, with various colors and shapes, with various combos! We also sometimes build something like a Castle out of regular Marshmallows and put a peep in the middle! very fun!
Indistructible my foot! Some of the best smores are made by lighting Peeps on fire and and adding chocolate and graham crackers.
The company that makes Peeps recently made a new product…CHOCOLATE PEEPS!
They’re sugar-coasted marshmallow peeps surrounded by an outer chocolate layer…so delicious!
For the record, I’m agnostic
“Fact 4: Loyal Peeps fans LOVE their Peeps fresh, frozen, stale, and even on pizza!”
LOL!
Peeps are out year-round now. You can get them at Valentine’s Day (hearts that are strawberry flavored), Halloween (pumpkins, black cats and ghosts), Christmas (snowmen, Christmas trees)…
Peeps. They’re not just for breakfast anymore
Thank-you for telling me about Peeps. I have seen them and didn’t know what they were called. Thank-you for the information. Happy Easter on hug a bunny day. Truly, Susan D. Snavely
Yaaayyy! Melissa is back. (We missed you for a couple weeks).
“Peeps” seem to be an American phenomenon. Here in Canada,
I have never seen them, nor does there seem to be an equivalent
or popular variation of them. I’m now curious if they exist in Latin
America, Europe, or the Indian sub-continent. Do they celebrate
Easter with any special sweets or treats?
humm putting peeps in the microwave.. i think i will have to try that one..
