Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and, depending on your relationship status, you’re either: booking a romantic dinner for two, or, picking out your favorite all-black ensemble for the dreaded day.

This year, why not celebrate Valentine’s Day with Yahoo! Answers by creating the ultimate Answers Valentine! But here’s the twist: we know that for many of you, Valentine’s Day isn’t all roses and chocolates, so here’s the challenge.

We want you to submit EITHER your sweetest Valentine or, the best anti-Valentine you can come up with.

REMEMBER, your Valentine must still follow the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines and the Yahoo! Terms of Service, so don’t: rant, use hate speech, use suggestive language, be offensive, or say anything that might not be appropriate for anyone under the age of 13. If you wouldn’t show it to your grandma, don’t post it here.

Since we know Valentine’s day is often a crafty holiday, we’ve again, partnered with our friends over at Flickr to create an Answers Flickr pool where you can upload your Valentine.

If you choose to upload an image, please do not upload photographs of yourself: instead, please download the Yamster –  Sites like Picnick have again, provided holiday scenes and smooches appropriate for Valentine’s day, but feel free to search the web for more!

You’re not limited to using just the Yamster, but please remember, no photographs of people or body parts will be permitted.

Not feeling crafty? Don’t worry– we’ve posted an open question here where you can share your plans for February 14th with us. If you’re feeling creative, post your  favorite love poems, sonnets, or, anti-Valentine’s day card messages below.

Whatever you decide to do, don’t delay, as all submissions are due by February 10th at 12 Noon. We’ll review all submissions and will select winners based on creativity, and dedication, so be sure to put your heart into it! Winners will be posted by the end of the day on Friday, February 12 and will receive bonus points on Yahoo! Answers.

Good luck!

  14. Valentines Is not just for that Special someone. For my valentines i will make my MOM and DAD brakfast because i LOVE them so much. I could not find a cute Pic but heres ONE. And heres this:

“For this people’s heart is become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”

  15. I do not have a scanner or anything, so anybody is welcome to use thise, I don’t have plans, I am in my early 20′s and I never had a date, mostly because I don’t want to date, to me it is a waste of time. and here is my anti valentine
-to love is to waste time, why have a dayto show that our love is in prime, love is really just an excuse not to die alone, like mostly everything else it is rotten to the bone, my love for valentines day will never increase, it will stay in me like a disease. to me love is just another revolution, I don’t show emotions.
I don’t want to hurt feelings, so I will stop here, that was my anti-valentine, if someone wants to use it, they are free, I just started typing and this is what came out. as my friend would say, “that was a broken love productions, in association with loveless entertainement.” I know it is bad but hey, he was 7 when he came up with it.

  16. True love is a hard shell which two people always are holding together, even when there miles away. If they break it, they break hearts, and the shell is crushed, causing the love inside of it too poor out and evaporate for someone else to collect.

Since My Valentine Got A Computer

Since my Valentine got a computer
My love life has taken a hit.
    Nothing I say is important
    Unless it’s a byte or a bit.

Before she got her new laptop,
    Everything was just fine;
Now she says we can’t talk
    Unless we both go online.

    “But honey,” I said, “I’m attached to you;
    Love is what I feel.”
    “That keyword isn’t relevant,”
She said, with eyes of steel.

    She clicked the keyboard furiously;
The screen was all she could see,
And then to my horror and shame,
    She started describing me:

    “Your motherboard needs upgrading;
    Your OS needs help, too.
And you definitely need a big heatsink
    To cool your CPU.”

“Don’t flame me, my sweet,” I pleaded.
    “Not on Valentine’s Day.”
“Fix the bugs, and I’ll see,” she said,
While looking at me with dismay.

    “What ever you want, my darling;
Whatever you need; you call it.
    I’ll upload or download anything,
And then I’ll go install it.”

    (Her hostile CD keeps replaying,
And though I don’t want to fight her,
Is this what I want for a Valentine?
I’ve been burned; can I rewrite her?)

“Are you all hard drive now,” I asked
“Is there no software in you?
Don’t you remember the good times?
Let our memories see us through.”

“LOL,” she said to me, chuckling.
    “You’re nothing but adware.
    “I’ve got four gigs of memory;
    I’ve got no problem there.”

“Please, honey, we can save it,” I said.
“Our love means more than that.”
“That’s not in my cache; we’re going to crash,”
She said, as she turned me down flat.

    (This woman has really changed;
Do I really want to chase her?
    More and more I’m thinking
It might be nice to erase her.)

“Aw, honey, don’t talk like that,” I said.
“Can’t we just plug and play?
    I hereby accept default,
And I’m yours, my love, come what may.

    My goal is to make you happy;
I want to be your portal,
    But your sudden, distant coldness
    Would test the strongest mortal.

If we need a brand new interface,
    So we can FTP,
I’m your go along, get along guy,
And I want you to stay with me.”

“If you want to get into my favorites,” she said,
And you want to get past my encryption,
If you want to get through my firewall,
    Here is my only prescription.”

“First, put up your own Web site,
And e-mail me when it’s done.
I’ll check your page rank with Google,
And tell you if you’re the one.”

My life has become a real trial,
Since my Valentine got a computer.
If I want her to care about me again,
I guess I’ll have to reboot her.

  24. Will You Be My Valentine?

Blah blah blah, it is all the same, blah blah blah, more noise
chit chat, mumbo jumbo, it all lacks intelligence.

I would rather slip my tongue down your throat, want to see?
You and me and baby will be three of a kind, yes

the rising sun in my eyes, I will testify love,
my love for you is evolution, in the making.

If the answer be no, I’ll be a supernova
no longer worthy of breath, worthless to exist, tears.

YOU will be to blame for my pain, do not shame me,
let me explain, meadowlarks beckon us, ecstasy,

lilies of the valley, eternal bliss, winter hawk,
do not fly from me, hunt me down, I sacrifice all.

Be my Valentine for all of time, unending love.

  25. We listen daily to the sonic coins
provided every one of us and played
through the Finger-singer worn on the left hand.
We trade coins of diverse denominations:
and all of them play all that they contain
and though a dyma 1 scarcely weighs one grain
it plays out like a cricket on each hand
    blanching here in this distraction-land.
    Like Rory Emerald’s marching band.

  29. the wonderful thing about Valentines’ Day:

being a woman i welcome Valentines day, single or not.

when i’m single it’s National Put Up Or Shut Up Day for men. That means all those flirty guys that give you mixed signals, Today is the day i get chocolate or you get lost lol.Either way this is the day i find out if you have respectable intentions or are just another flirty boy.

When i’m in a relationship its the day either I dont get taken for granted or you are one step closer to being an ex .

Either way i am thankful i am not a guy on Valentine’s day.

    Good Luck Guys

  30. What is the point of Valentine’s Day?
    It truly makes me shudder.
Couples conversing, too sappy and sweet,
Giving wet kisses to one another.

What is the point of Valentine’s Day?
    I think it’s all just a scam.
Wal-Mart sells pink fluff and chocolate hearts
To men who would usually get Spam.

What is the point of Valentine’s Day?
Why do we remember it so?
    Nobody died on February 14th.
At least, not that I know!

What is the point of Valentine’s Day?
It’s senseless, and stupid, and daft,
That men should buy meaningless presents
And be billed for it seven months aft.

What is the point of Valentine’s Day?
If anyone says that they know,
They’re probably the one who got the gift,
    And spent absolutely zero.

What is the point of Valentine’s Day?
I tell you, I have no clue.
What did I get for Valentine’s Day?
My dog took a dump in my shoe.

  34. Love is hope, love is kind, love is the unknown–and hoping the “other” person–feels comfortable with you–as you feel with them, love is giving hope to the unknown–and what’s ahead of us, even though when in “love” the unknown be damned–because, there aren’t any “rules” in loving–and being loved. lol–it just hits us–like a ton of bricks upside the head–and as we’re spinning out of control–the world around us becoming a blur of words and statements we don’t even hear nor want to–it becomes one heart touching another–and mingling nonsense–while we pursue things to come–and going on the merry-go-round–of “love.” We yearn–we daydream–we are lost in space most of the time–and loving every minute of it. We are blinded by any feeling’s which occur during this–except to meld into the heart of the one whom we are “attaching” to. We expect nothing–who can think,? We want for not–not even food at times–unless it is with the one we want to share everything with. It’s being alone in a room full of ppl–with the one we “:love”, and knowing “the look” shall take us away from the craziness–and bring us closer to the one we “” even if it’s just a ride home–to insue a night of talking/sharing/laughing for no reason–and never sleeping again. lol “Love ” has it’s own “path” of which we do not ask for–as it sweeps us–into oblivion–and back a hundred times over. “Love” is something which–we all “:look” for and which few find, IF it’s real–and enthrawling to us. When we least expect it–we’re torn into piece’s, we’re lonely if even for a moment, we’re beside ourselves–and feel like we’re kids again–even though we’re not. But, in “essence” of “:love”–we are actually going bk., in time to the dream’s of loving and being loved–to the very maximun degree of heart stomping thumps of joy–and elation. “Love” is rainbow’s not seen, street’s not crossed, trail’s not taken, heart’s not drawn, feeling’s not touched, dream’s not dreamt, moon’s not jumped, lol–star’s not counted, night’s not stayed up for, phone call’s not answered, hand’s not held, mind’s not met, changes not made, hope’s not hoped, days not opened, exilerattion’s not felt, fun not found, laugh’s not used, mind’s not met–yet, prayer’s not answered, and lonliness not taken from us. “Love ” is granduer–in it’s finest. “Love” is something which we should all feel–at least once. God Bless. victorianlady

Even tho couples should show it everyday of the year, but theres a good day were we can remind each other how much love we have for one another, thats how i celebrate, and I do something extra special for my significant other to show that, hense.. presents. If you dont have a valentine dont complain, just ignore the holiday, its not cheesy unless you make it cheesy.

  41. Happy Valentine’s Day. Don’t understand why it’s a holiday, anyway. My Ma and Pa taught me if they don’t fuss, fight, and love each other for the other 364 days of the year, it’s kinda stupid to make up for lost oppertunities on Feb 14. That’s only one day when you had all year to fuss and such, throw tantrums and make up. That is true love. I guess that’s also why my Husband calls me ‘Battle axe’ sometimes and I call him ‘Jackass’ as a retort. After that, we stick each other to the ceiling NOT on Feb 14.

  47. What makes Valentine’s Day for many so stressful is that they take it to be a day that shows the world if they, themselves, are loved and cherished . . . I improved my joy on this day by 1000% by concentrating simply on showing others how I love and cherish them . . . and extend this way beyond romantic love. . . makes for a wonderful day for everyone and especially me.

  52. Valentine’s day was named after St. Valentine who was an early Christian martyr. On this day it was said that lovers presented gifts to one another to express their love for each other, hence giving the name Valentine.

Personally I dislike Valentine’s Day. Because I have been alone for many, many years and have never had a Valentine. There are people in this world, including myself, who have never been married or had anyone love them.

You jerk you didn’t call me up
I haven’t seen you in so long
You probably have a fucking tan
& besides that instead of making love tonight
You’re drinking your parents to the airport
I’m through with you bourgeois boys
All you ever do is go back to ancestral comforts
Only money can get—even Catullus was rich but

Nowadays you guys settle for a couch
By a soporific color cable t.v. set
Instead of any arc of love, no wonder
The G.I. Joe team blows it every other time

Wake up! It’s the middle of the night
You can either make love or die at the hands of
    the Cobra Commander

  70. Love is not just a feeling the heart longs for. It is an emotion that life depends on. It is what everyone thinks about. Breakups, makeups, young love, old love, hidden love, open love, no love, lost love, and true love.

I make everyone of my friends Valentine cards and give something special on them like candy or notes. Valentines day is one of the best holidays of the year, so if you have someone special do something with them or give them a hug, make them laugh, you can even make a poem or song about them. Happy Valentines day!

  86. Be my Valentine
I think of you often…I do,
From morning ’til evening I do,
    When memories bring laughter
    Or moments bring pain,
There is faithfulness, too, once again.

    And time always shows me
    And God always shows me
    Both sunshine and rain,
    How, we gain yearly
From the love we’re share dearly.

So, my dear, my sweet bubbaloo,
    Remember our love, dulce bubbaloo,
For we’ve come so far and there’s so much to come
And I have love to yet give
For the life we will live…together.

Make little of what makes you cry,
Be sure that what makes you cry
Has greater desire and a more certain will
To pray for His help from above
and restore the feelings of love.
So let’s stir up our passion today,
    Let memories give way today,
To the now and the future
For the joys and hopes and for all
The times my heart hears you call.

    I’m so glad,
    I’m so glad,
    I love you
    You love me fine
    Be my Valentine.

  87. When me and my boyfriend of two years first started dating, he came over to my house one day and we had dinner with my parents, since I still live at home, ( waiting on that ring! ) and after he left, my dad walked up the steps and found a beautiful feather on the porch. He held it up and said “Ya know, your grammy always told me that when you find a feather it means an angel has been here.” My dad gave me the feather and I kept it out where I could see it for a long time. When my boyfriend, Seth, gave me a promise ring a year later I knew we would be together forever. So that next Valentines Day I painted a small shadow box and mounted the feather inside. When I gave it to him of course he looked kind of confused about why I would give him a feather. So I told him the story that my dad told me, that my grandmother told him. I said the day he walked down those steps leaving my house and that feather appeared, I knew he was my angel.

Love is a perfect bond of union,it is not jealous, It is kind and charming. and there is no fear in love.To me love is a gift that God gives us the ability to feel.Cause we all know that love is what makes the world go round. We all hunger for Love, yet we are full of it. We need it we want it, yet we deny it, and fear its power. Its our souls desire, the spirit of love resides with in us all. So love on and dont put conditions or boundries on it. Love Shair

  97. Here’s something I wrote. Enjoy :p

    I remember that day clearly
“I love you”; what a bluff
    Valentine’s day comes yearly
    Ugh, I’ve had enough.

    Everyone thrives on confirmation
To know that they’re not alone
    To find the right companion
    To find their special ringtone

    My lonely little sound
    Singing from my cell
    It chirps very sadly
The dying echo of a bell

In high school we were sweethearts
In the hallway we would meet
You would never see us apart
Without you now, I don’t feel so incomplete.

We used to be ‘the couple’
    The cutest there can be
So let me ask you something
Was this day the day to leave?

  101. Love is spiritual fulfillment. Love is being with the one that makes you feel special, every day. Love is loving yourself before you can love others. Love is the smile from a loved one or a friend. Love is saying you ARE sorry when you’ve make a mistake. Love is a kind word to the downtrodden. Love is practicing loving kindness.

    so the lesson here is;
1.buy black converse (cant stain them!)
2.eat ur icecream in a walk in freezer (what if you get locked in! *gulp*)
3.stay away from the icecream alltogether (love/valentines day)

  108. This is the meaning of true love, on Valentine’s Day or any other day:

    John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    AND

    1 Corinthians 13

1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

    5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

    6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Well, even if I’ll be loveless on the next heart’s day, I still love the thought of getting something from my folks. A PBJ (peanut butter jelly) day for me is actually enough for a Feb. 14.

  122. I used to say that true love is hard to find but I proved it wrong. I realized that love is just in the air, whether it is Valentine’s Day or not. Sometimes, we are just to hesitant to pick the love already laid upon us that’s why we end up being alone and feel not loved.
