Take a peek at our new page
As of today, some of you will experience a slightly different page design when you visit the Category pages.

Over the next week, we will gradually increase the number of people who see this new Category page until it is the only version you will see on the site. We’re doing this cautiously to ensure your overall experience on the site isn’t affected.
No prizes for the first ones to see it—but we are very interested to hear your feedback on the new page when you do see it. So please leave your feedback with a comment below or directly through our feedback page.
We will tell you more about the exciting new design once it is fully visible to everyone!

It’s okay. I’m not used to change.
I don’t have it yet. ;-(
But based on the sample, it is an actual improvement.
Things are on the proper side.
Obvious sub-categories.
Bold look replacing bland, but not too bold.
Leader board should please those folks.
A place for Answers tips.
Good Job
Hopefully the staff is working on this format for the profile page where the open, in voting, and resolved tabs are really needed. This change is another example of putting lipstick on a pig. It looks like you have added sorting for popularity, but nothing else (like date AND #of answers). The users want real functionality added, not just making the site “purty” or just showcaqsing the popularity of “players”.
I can’t join everything because I am at the Library and am using their system. So don’t expect me to be able to be critical. I think it looks tops and I will work hard to keep up. Thank-you for letting me get used to it. Truly, Susan D. Snavely
hello my name’s scott and i’m one of the firsts person to see this change.
I like it, its a very good change, good jod!
scott from argentina
okay..? looks gud.
wwoow..im excited…..cant w8 for a real preview…..
make sure you give the option to hide the boxes. or else they might get annoying.
the one that says ready to participate ? get started! seems a little childish.
other than that, looks okay.
I SEE NO DIFFERENCE.
It look as thought the New Yahoo Answers page is designed in a more better effecient page that will allow users to easily select which type of “subject” questions they would prefer to answer. I definitely prefer the new desgin better.
Great job Yahoo Answers! I look forward to using it in the future.
I like the new layout.
I am excited for it to be unveiled.
I don’t like it, at all….. why not just leave it the way it is?
Looks nice. Can’t wait till I get it!
All I know is I like my new Opera web browser blocking teH advertisementZ
As usual, more cosmetic changes and no attention being paid to the real issues on this site; the problems with the Community Moderation system and the flawed appeals process.
I can’t wait!!
I could not see this page yet, but it looks better. I may inform you that links for top 10 answerers for all categories have been missing since more than a year for Australia, India and New Zealand and I have confirmed this from other participants of YA. This error is not rectified despite my drawing attention from time to time through the feedback form. Hope it will be set right in the new format.
I like it. Change is always good.
I don’t like it, I can’t find what I’m looking for.
hi i like the changes yahoo made,it makes looking for things a heck of a lot easier, thanks mike!
Why are you making the pages LESS efficient?
Why force us to scroll MORE to see the actual questions?
Why FORCE us to see “leaders” (which no one in their right mind gives a frig about)?
I agree that too much effort is spent on eye candy, and not enough on making this a more user friendly experience. I lost my account for seemingly no reason. I am told I violated the rules, but don’t know which ones. I broke none of the rules as they are written. I have read them all. I was a level 6. I simply asked how to sufficiently punish myself to make the unwanted thoughts go away. And I asked why people pretend God is loving. I was not advocating harm for other people, nor was I ranting.
The real problem is that Yahoo!, as usual, do not care what its users and customers want, only pushing its own ideas and agendas. If they gave us what we wanted – a social forum with the structure of Answers, where we could use the Answers format as a springboard to meet and socialize, and asked us what changes we want (not what the shareholders or board wants), they would not have problems like Microsoft trying to take over. (And when I asked how the users could stop a takeover, that question was summarily deleted the next day, though no violation notice was given.) We as users are tired of being given something we like, only for Yahoo! to decide what is best for us and snatch that from us.
Whoo hoo, you made it look prettier, but based on what I see from here, what really changed? You all still don’t seem to “get it” in regards to people’s complaints about the site.
Wow this moving real fast, that is Ok have to use the old brain
I can’t read my emails, they don’t open and all the avatars are blank (that funny grinning face thing).
…Let alone the new pag, which I cannot see anyhow.
Ok, so what I’ve seen of it, it looks like an improvement. However, is there going to be a place where I can see my individual stats in categories? Like how many total answers I have in Golf, and best answers? Is that included with the update?
I was getting used to it and then you took it away. It is hard to give much feedback after a two day trial. To me though it seems more like a lure to attract new users that will think of the answers site as a game.
Answers is a game yet there are those that pretend it is a serious Q&A site.
Yahoo needs to draw a clear line.
it looks really great
Ok, I just got it, and I have to say, it’s a waste of an update. it doesn’t really make a difference at all. Sure you can see voting and all, but where are the actual improvements? Maybe you guys should look at the Suggestions and put in a stat section your profile! I couldn’t care less about who answers the most, I care about my stats more!
One thing is for sure. You guys over the pats 2 years have been doing the best you could to bring some user friendly changes into Yahoo! Answers. That’s really appreciative and I wish your team all the best.
But there few things that should be considered in or order to improve your Answers! Service. The first thing is that most users are complaining for their accounts being locked for violating the rules made by Yahoo! and most of them didn’t even violate any of your rules.
The second thing, accounts get suspended from using the Yahoo! Answers facility just because they asked something sexual or erotic?
Review your rules please.
Looks good, but we’ll see how it goes……
Could you let us know why such a change was needed?
its nice, i was hoping for somethng to single out seniors for those confused high school people..could you give “high school” a category pleeeeze?
I hate it. It’s confusing. I WANT THE OLD FORMAT BACK!!!
I think it is pretty good, but have not seen it real good or used it.
I haven’t seen it yet!
But I hope to see it soon it looks like a big improvement!
It seems to me like if you people spent as much time fixing all the glitches on here as you do on these unnecessary “improvements” like this cosmetic change that doesn’t help one bit, a spell checker that spells worse than I do, and getting rid of Yahoo 360 in favor of stupid profiles, you’d have a very good site that actually works most of the time, and would eliminate most of these glitches like the coffee breaks, thumbs, and disappearing answers when you post.
But I know better than to expect that.
i think this looks an awful lot like answerbag.
cant you guys focus on more important things? like eliminating trolls?
I was answering questions in books just now. I saw the old form on pages 1-10, then the new form for page 11, then it would not let me go further back.
The new page looks nice, but I care more about the site working, period!
I like it, and yes, I like seeing myself near the top of the top 10 list on the right. It helps motivate top contributors, and it also helps people looking at their answers to figure out which answers are probably respectable ones. There is some added functionality in the choice I can make between all English answers and US-only answers. I can easily see Other – Science highlighted among its peer categories, but it looks like they are all subcategories of Other – Science rather than of Science & Mathematics.
The sort criteria are clearer.
So far, the ads seem to be of a higher presentation quality, but less targeted to what I’m viewing. Is that really a better choice?
The features in the lower right are all good ones.
what the hell do you need the adds for?
also, why are the friggin email systemlocked just because your answers account is suspended?
BS.
THIS IS HORRIBLE
WHAT THE HECK
This is absolute junk garbage and then some. I cannot live with it I think I will be leaving. The question are aligned on the wrong side the section bar is on the top hence making the question lower on the page which is really unprofessional.
This downgrade gets me soo angry that I don’t want to use it any more. It is no longer appealing. Yahoo have lost all hope and will lose people. Plus new people will be less interested with this ugly layout
WE WANT OUR OLD LAYOUT BACK !!!!!
BS.
YAY FINALLY!!
I like that the question information does not take up several lines or wrap around any longer. The single line is much easier to read and find things.
I think it would be beneficial if Comments were displayed on the information line as well. It shows Stars, category, asker, answers, and how long ago. Just as the Stars are shown as 4* , comments could be shown as 3C without adding much to the line.
Comments is the third best feature of Answers and unfortunately, due to its not being encouraged sufficiently, is vastly underused.
I’ll never understand the obsession with moving things from one side of the screen to the other, but I guess I’ll get used to it (just before it gets moved back I’m sure
“Tell us what you think” on the right directs to the suggestion board now. That makes it easier than backing out to the main page. I think the Feedback link should be more prominent.
The blog should have an Answer link at the top, and should keep the same window when returning to Answers using the “Go To Yahoo Answer” link near the bottom. And the blog shold have a text sizer.
Can we not have that freaking huge leader board? It’s very unnecessary and annoying.
You moved category pane to top of page from left pane. I would say I loved the old one. But, there might a lot more people loving this new face. Anyway, good job yAnswers!
I do really hope you’re not going to change yAnswers API in this near future. I got a dozen of blogger blogs enriched with content from Answers!
page looking now cool but,i can’t find question properly
when im searching question it shows 6month ago question. this format really wired ..if u could change oldest or newset tab on top of the page then it is more user friendly.
if i click on sort by option oldest than it goes to newest question arrive section.but the prob start there..when im just wait to return new question than it goes to 6month old area.hahaha
solve it
I have it in Google Chrome, but not in Flock. Is that how it’s supposed to work?
I don’t like how there is no way to refresh a page (I used to click on “answer questions”) without hitting F5. I also noticed today, indentations which would normally indicate some nesting or threads but there was nothing connecting the nested posts. What’s the deal?
OMG I HATE IT SO MUCH PLEASE CHANGE IT!!!
IT RUINS MY EYES AND WHAT I DO!
