Keeping in touch
Know someone who shares your interests? Fascinated by a relationship guru or a physics expert? Let your favorite users become part of your very own personal network on Yahoo! Answers.
How does it work?
Adding people to the Answers Network is just a few clicks away! It can be as simple as clicking the “Add to My Contacts” link on any profile page or Avatar rollover. You can also invite friends from outside of Answers to join your network. Your friends can even be Contacts from your Yahoo! Address Book.
Visit our “Invite a Friend” page to start sending out invitations to your friends. By adding people to your network, you will have direct access to their Q&A. Their most recent content will appear on your Answers homepage and on your profile page. You will also be able to see which questions your friends have starred. If you want to look at more Q&A, click “My Network’s Q&A,” which is located at the top of your profile page.
Users who have added you to their network are called “Fans.” You can view your Fans by clicking the “Fans” tab on your profile page. When you add someone as a “Contact,” you will appear in their “Fans” tab as well.
What if I don’t want Fans?
Easy-you can always opt out of the Answers Network:
1. Go to your profile and click “Edit My Info.”
2. Uncheck the box that says “Allow other people to be my Fan” under the “Yahoo! Answers Network” preferences.

Just wondering if I wanted to increase the rank of my other pages does postings comments like this improve the rank of the page at all or is the link pretty much worthless
This feature is worthless and will remain so until it’s properly configured. Fans and contacts should be permission based, just like any other form of contact on any other Y! service (360°, Profiles, Messenger) and most any other service offered by every other internet portal on the web. It’s irresponsible to offer a feature which lets trolls access your private Q&A then report you into oblivion before you receive any indication they’ve even tried. Wise up.
I agree the feature has limited use. Give us something we can use. Carl Parisien Natick MA
I want fans…. but I want to choose them BEFORE they get to see who else is in my Contact & Fan base.
Having recently had a cheeky spammer try to rifle through several of my friends profiles I am aggravated by the continued absence of common sense security on this feature. One look at the profile of the spammer would have told me he was up to no good.
I have even had 2 Fans I don’t remember ever getting notified about [I keep all such notices]
A fix for this is long overdue
“When you add someone as a “Contact,” you will appear in their “Fans” tab as well.”
Yeah, we know. I’d like to have a few contacts in my network myself. And I don’t mind having fans, AS LONG AS I CAN APPROVE OF THEM FIRST. Until the option is given to us to give permission PRIOR to them becoming “fans”, I’ll keep my network closed, thank you very much.
