And the Golden Hamster goes to…

To followers of entertainment and style, there are few occasions that match the excitement and dazzle of the Academy Awards. This much-hyped event seems to be cause for big celebrations and fabulous fetes far and wide. Whether you’re a nominee for best actor or a fan who has never set foot on a film set, chances are you’ve been invited to some sort of gathering on Sunday. There’s something about the Oscars that brings out the reveler in us.

Like the Super Bowl or the “American Idol” finale, it’s a program best enjoyed among friends (preferably with delicious snacks and libations). To that end, I thought I’d screen Answers to come up with my own list of winners to help make your Academy Awards party a night to remember.

-In the category of Best Themed Foods Representing Best Picture Nominees, the Golden Hamster goes to Chef Tink. Her suggestions for stuffed “Benjamin Button” mushrooms and tres leches cake (in honor of “Milk,” of course) were phenomenally clever.

-In the category of Best Ideas for a Kids’ Oscar Party, the Golden Hamster goes to suzie. I especially like her idea of putting down a red-carpet walk for photo ops.

-In the category of Best Menu for an Upscale Oscar Party, the Golden Hamster goes to Puppet Dictator. Oysters, smoked salmon, strawberries, and champagne?!? I know where I want to spend Oscars night!

-In the category of Best Appetizer Representing a Past Oscar Nominee, the Golden Hamster goes to BlueSea’s recommendation for serving Sunny D and pigs in a blanket, honoring last year’s “Juno.”

-In the category of Best Instructions for Making a Life-Size Oscar, the Golden Hamster goes to Marsea. Her ideas and instructions will elevate your Academy Awards party from a mere get-together to a spectacle your friends won’t soon forget.

Best of luck to all of the actual nominees, and have a safe and spectacular Oscars night!

  6. I despise awards shows. They’re just rich, vain, and, for the most part, stupid people telling each other and themselves how awesome they are.

They also serve as excuse for celebrities to have miilions of dollars of free crap handed over to them.
Insted of handing out gift bags worth millions, teh Academy give that money to the local soup kitchen?
Or help some people with their mortgages?
