Are these people for real?

Tags: ,

What do Bono, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Seann William Scott all have in common? They have all taken part in Answers over the last couple of years. And they have not been the only ones-there’s a long list of celebrities and notable leaders who have chosen to pose a question to the Answers community and eagerly review your responses.

However, many of you have expressed feelings of concern toward the authenticity of these public figures on Answers. Well, we’d like to set the record straight: of course they are who they say they are. You’ll recognize them by the green badge with the “official” label under their avatar.

It’s that simple. You know us-we are always talking about our community guidelines, terms of service, and copyright and intellectual property policies. We take this all very seriously and would never allow someone to impersonate a public figure.

Here’s how the process works: The celebrity asks the question (you can see many recorded on video), the community answers the question, and the celebrity chooses the Best Answer.

Some of the questions and features come from our international Answers teams and have to be translated or converted into American English, but that’s it. There’s no trick or behind-the-scenes manipulations-they are who they say they are! And…they are amazed at the passion of the Answers community!

Now that you know these people are the “real McCoy,” is there someone in particular you’d like to see put a question before the community? We don’t promise anything, but we’d love to hear your suggestions, and we’ll do our best to make your dream come true.

  1. I wonder how many celebrities get 20 violation notices in one day because they’ve been targeted by report monkeys. I wonder if Yahoo! would respond to them?

  15. Don’t let the email address confuse you. It is merely a nom de plume from a former major celebrity (me). I attained my considerable fame on “Green Acres”. You may recall that I was the one who changed the channels on the T.V., and also answered the phone occasionally. I am still on the hoof, having thus far escaped being converted into bacon.

  28. Like I am supposed to be impressed by these celebrities? They come on here by some kind of special invitation – pose one question {which is either considerably lame or has been wrote by the answers staff — seriously … am I to believe that the smartest man in the world who wrote the book on time and space wants to know from us how we are going to get by in 100 years — then you just posted some other class clown who’s last movie “Role Models” barely lasted one week in the theaters wanting to know about role models…. seriously}

Like I was saying… they pose one question and you never hear or see from them EVER AGAIN … I am not even going to mention the fact that it is the answer’s staff that chooses the answer — not the celeb…

Are we supposed to be impressed by this?
I truly do not care about ass kissing celebs just because they are celebs ….

Show me one celeb who is coming on the answers community because he or she actually wants to… show me one celeb that is willing to take a few minutes of his or her time to ACTUALLY ANSWER someone else’s question — not just post some bogus question that the staff wrote for them…
Show me one celeb that is willing to put him or herself out there for the fans…

But it doesn’t matter what I have to say …. you will post some celeb on here -put some ridiculously lame question to which there will be over 5000 answers and 500 stars given …. it’s ridiculous

It really doesn’t matter — this world will keep on revolving with or without Bono’s help…

  48. I have no interest at all in seeing these celebrities post questions. 99% of them are no smarter than you or i, they simply made it big in HollyWeird and lucked out in life.
Whats more some of the questions they ask would be considered a violation if it were anyone else asking them. They would fall under chatting or one of the other many rules Y/A has. Yet they get away with it………

Please stop deleting “chat” type questions. Obviously they are popular because anyone with two eyes can see there’s a bunch of them. And do you want to go against what’s popular? Not a good way to run a business.

  69. I’d like to see Al Gore answer a few questions. Like what would he have done if he had won the presidency instead of you know who. What he would have done differently when 9/11 happened. If he thinks it would even have happened. Just to reinforce the guilt on those who either did not vote for him or just didn’t vote at all (I was too young :( but I was a supporter just the same) because I really do believe our country would be in a much better condition than it is now had he made it in.
For frivolous reasons though my other choices would be Jennifer Aniston, Brad and Angelina, Seth Green and the ever good lookin Johnny Depp :)
