Ask Mike: Stopping nightmares

ask mike avatarHey Guys,

So, there I am, minding my own business. When all of a sudden, out of nowhere, a crazy-eyed lunatic starts chasing me through a field. I try to run, but my feet feel like they’re in quicksand. I turn around and the maniac is getting closer and closer…and then I wake up. I’ve been having that same nightmare for as long as I can remember, but I’m not alone when it comes to recurring bad dreams. Blah asked what she can do to stop hers, so I drank some caffeine and went looking for an answer.

Despite his having caused several of my more vivid nightmares, I visited Dr. Phil’s official site first. Oprah’s guru offers some tips on how to stop recurring nightmares. One of the more interesting tips is to talk about the nightmare with somebody you trust before you go to sleep. Talk about it in detail, act out the various parts of the nightmare, and give the nightmare a happy ending. It sounds silly, but apparently it helps because getting “every neurological loop involved can help finish the business.”

WebMD offers similar advice, suggesting that anyone suffering from recurring nightmares should “create a happier ending.” Before going to sleep, picture “what outcome you would like to have happen. Picture the recurring dream and realistically picture another outcome.” Remind yourself over and over when you’re going to sleep about what you want to happen in the dream. If that doesn’t work, WebMD suggests that a therapist may be able to help.

There is another possibility–lucid dreaming. This is when people are able to realize they are dreaming and control what happens in the dream. Sounds pretty good, but according to HowStuffWorks, this is a skill that very few people have. “It is estimated that fewer than 100,000 people in the United States have the ability to have lucid dreams.”

There doesn’t seem to be an easy answer, but talking about the nightmares tends to help. And, for what it’s worth, humans aren’t the only species to have bad dreams. According to WebMD, gorillas seem to have nightmares. One can only imagine what scares them…

  1. i my be only 14, but i get the same type of nightmares. i in a dark room or bedroom, living room anywhere small and im alone. all of a sudden a turn around and see something at the galss door and (don’t laugh) but its usually ronald mcdonald, which who i was afraid of when i was younger, or a clown or a weird creepy person i run but im too slow and the clown has unimagiable speed. it sucks but i wake up right when they get me. the nightmares have slowed down in a few years. its usually caused by me sleeping on my right side. i guess it is because my imagitive side of my brain is the right and the brain juices build up on that side. i have had some nightmares by remebering that it is a dream so i can say or do anything which means fighting off that evil clown. it has worked some times but i bet their are different ways to go rid off them for good.

  2. I’ve never tried lucid dreaming, but I taught myself to recognize a nightmare and wake up. When I was growing up I had the most vivid imagination and seriously wacky nightmares, so it was self-defense :-P
BTW, there is a great answer about the sleep cycle in the Anniversary E-book; I learned a lot and I think it’s important to know about it to improve our chances of better rest and better dreams :-)

  6. I can do lucid dreaming and it helps a lot. However, there are only a few of us who can do it. ^_^
Just visualizing the happy ending before you sleep is best for those who can’t do lucid dreaming. And try lowering your stress level.

  7. i have a dream over and over again – i see a red car going down a road (side view) and the car type always changes and then it goes in to the drivers seat and its a typical honda civic ,even though the car typeon the outside is different, and then i turn around to the passanger seat or the back seats and there is either one person or a small group of people i really started to care about and then they smile at me and then they look forward and their eyes get huge and their mouth opens like they are about to scream and i look forward and we are like a nano second from crashing either into a poll or huge tree

keep in mind that im the one driving

and i always wake up after that image

  8. Hey Mike,
I used to have a similar dream where a man who was obviously trying to kill me through a house ( any house, not necessarily one I ever lived in ) and I would always end up hiding in closet. At the last minute, the would be killer throws open the door and I wake Up!
So,I told my husband that it was really bothering me and he said, ” Don’t U know we have guns in the closet?”. I never had that dream again!
The point is, U can give yourself a subliminal message before U ever go to bed.
Remember, as U are running through that field, that U have a weapon ( your choice ) and turn around to face what is coming. It might be something U can handle!
I know I am a good shot, so I am not insecure or in fear anymore.
    Good Luck and Sweet Dreams!

  9. Mike, sorry to hear you are troubled in this way. My mom experienced a similar sequence throughout her life. It was possible to discern when she was undergoing this dream as her breathing became very fast, hard and desperate, exactly like one being chased. Her terror was great. Further, on these occasions she often awakened with great, red welts across her legs. I always attributed the phenomenon to a childhood experience. Your recurrence may be an experience from infancy that has been suppressed from your memory.
Occasionally I have nightmares, but not repetitive. Recently I read a good tip: be sure to eat carbohydrates at night, as they tend to be sedating. Following this advice, I now eat a big bowl of fresh, grated coconut laced with chopped, dried, organic dates (my favorite dish) before going to bed. I enjoy deep, beautiful, joyous dreams. But be sure to eat all fruit on an empty stomach. A baked potato with a little butter accomplishes the same. (Seratonin.)
This habit, I think, will take care of the matter. In any event, be sure to avoid late night caustic food difficult to digest. Gastric disturbance could well be triggering your dream. We are what we eat. If you are interested in perfecting your diet, email me. I can be helpful.
Also, forget the problem altogether. Fear and dread alone can sustain these issues and cause them to snowball. So forget it, with full confidence that you are master of your life.

  11. I use to have nightmares of all kind but mainly being chased was the most terrifying, my husband has a major in psychology, i most be honest he gets people real well & he stated really calm one day, it is just your sub conscience you are calling them, you are expecting them, he mentioned it to me in such a calm state, such a tone, where I didn’t have a nightmare for the next 3 months, & when I did luckily he was there awake, I would have bet to anyone else I had been so deep in the nightmare where I had trouble waking up & perhaps even sweating or what not, anyway when I woke up telling him about my horrifying nightmare, again very calm he said I been here, I have been watching you were just sleeping, is just a nightmare, you can control it, you call them out. I heard him, I did not want to beleive but after that I decided not to be scared & not to wait for them … is weird .. and I very seldom have them now, it is just when I am stressed ot deeply thinking of something when I have them then I remember & I am fine. Again it may just be me, but the his soothing, calm, affirming tone of voice, help me believe I had the power I guess and they are seldom there. Hope this help & again you have the power, don’t be afraid.

  12. Lucid dreaming works, it’s all just a matter of taking control of your surroundings and your actions. It’s simple once you learn how to do it. Forcing yourself to wake up also helps. I rarely discuss my dreams but when I do, it does seem to help.

Once you notice something odd in your dreams, focus on it. Once you realize that something is odd or is out of place, that it is not possible for it to happen in real life, or your surroundings is different from real life, then you know it’s a nightmare or a dream. Then you can manipulate it to your will. Then you can force yourself awake or to take control and go with the flow of the dream or to change it or your actions. Use your emotions as trigger points. It basically turns the dream from a movie into an interactive game where you have the controller. You just need to learn the functions of each of the buttons on the control pad. Quite simple really.

  14. If you watch what yu watch on T.V. and avoid violent things in your life –Your subconsios will start destressing abut good things and not bad things. From what I understand our subconsious holds things in your memory bank and even if you don’t think that it bothers you -It might actually bother you a lot. Once it is in you memory bank –It is in there-That is why it is important (especally for children) to avoid things that aren’t -more or less Christ like. Even commercials can be twisted in some form or another.

  16. The Psalm 4 in the Bible Says:
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
pray before sleep, believe in it, say it and yo will go on, but you most be awared that evil really exist, but God is most powerful and He gives His strengt in Jesus.

  19. The thing that helps stop bad dreams the most: Study the subject matter when you are awake until you are bored of it. Since it’s a murderous person chasing you I would recommend a book on serial killers or two or possibly a book on running. It may take more than that and you may have even weirder dreams in the meantime, but the point is to be tired of and done with the subject. Your subconcious will reflect that.

My personal experience: I still had nightmares about zombies even though I know they’re fictional, have had many lucid dreams were I confronted them (and if you die in dreams hundreds of times you still don’t die in real life) and I don’t eat weird before bed etc. Two books about zombies in a row and I was ready for a break consciously and wouldn’t you know, no more zombie dreams!

  20. what you need to do is get more sleep if the reason you are havin nightmares, or to take the technical term night terrors, is because you are not reaching your optimal REM sleep. You should plan to go to sleep and commit to at least 7 or 8 hours. 6 is acceptable but I wouldn’t recommend it. If you are having trouble trying to sleep you should get more exercise during the day and eat less before you go to sleep. I hope this helps you.

  21. Dreams are simply the subconscious mind working out problems your conscious mind faced during the day. Keep a dream journal. You will start to see that times you dream of being stuck and not being able to run, move, will match up with times in your life when you are “stuck” in a situation, or going through a tough time.

When you have these dreams, take at look at what is going on in your life. It is time to make some decisions, and/or change something in your life that needs changing.

    Good luck!

  25. Hmm… all of these comments make ME feel like im going to end up with a nightmare. I have had nightmares before, but they where never really scary ones like yours or other peoples on here. The last nightmare i recall is barely a nightmare. I think i was 7 or 8 and it was me runnning, jumping on buildings whilest being chased carrots… ordinary sized carrots. No legs. No arms. Just carrots. Well what was the scary part? i always eneded up at the edge of an cliff.
I hope my so called “nightmare” which only happended once and left me confused for a while helps you feel better!

  29. Okay i did have one nightmare about 2 years ago. I was walking arouind town with my cousin, then she left, and i went behind dollar general to see what was there. Well there was a door open and i went in and it was some kind of bathroom. I walked right through a cloud of gnats before i realized they were there and then, coughing and sputtering, i ran into something. I looked to see what it was and it was a body hanging from the ceiling! whipped around but i saw a mirror and i saw myself covered in blood and i ran away. Then i woke up, went downstairs, and looked at the tv. It was Ghost Ship, at the part where the people are dancing on the ship and the cord snaps and everyone but the little girl gets sliced apart.

    Pleasant….

  30. well, paranoia in the world today shouldn’t even be a psychiatric disorder anymore, in my opinion. Trust is minimal between people, attacks, crime, prejudice, etc. it is a perfectly normal dream. kids dream about their parents dying. naked dreams, as a child are also common. children (and adults, too, these days) feel too ‘exposed,’ as it were. theory says that every person in your dream, is really you, yourself, or an aspect of same. interesting subject, since we all must dream, to be sane. lol, but true.

  32. I have lucid dreams, but that can make the nightmares much more realistic, which is even more stressful to me. Even though I’m aware that I am dreaming, I get trapped in it until the event ends, or I’m woken up by someone. I don’t even wake up from an alarm until my dream sequence had finished.

  38. well I have no actual answer to this. But probably picturing an outcome that you want is the best way if you can’t do lucid dreaming. I can actually do lucid dreaming. It only worked twice. The first I stabbed an enraged santa claws (I know its supposed to be clause, but he’s freakin trying to claw me to death!).Then I jumped of a building, halfway down I realized I stopped falling and started to fly.

  42. I have dreams like these sometimes, where someone is chasing me or something and my body seizes up and i can’t wake up. they are what i call “attacks” from something with low consciousness. The key here is to realize that you are not a victim, you are letting this happen on some level of your subconscious. You also need to realize that you are in complete control of the situation, instead of seeing the dream as a nightmare, see it as an aspect of your life that needs to be worked on. Offer this dream, and the man cahasing you, your love and forgivness. Forgive the man, the dream, and yourself for letting it happen, everynight and see what happens. Also a field represents openness and opportunitiesin dreams. Maybe this man is trying to keep you from seeing opportunities around you? If you have the dream again, don’t run, try to stop and look to see what is around you, stand and face your attacker and you will realize what little control he actually has over you and your life. hope this helps it works for my tough dreams.

  44. Oh cool thats what its called! I can do lucid dreaming. Its pretty much the most amazing thing ever when you can do the craziest things in your dreams in your own control and command.

For your issue, I suggest drinking lots of water. Dehydration can cause sleep disorders. Also, praying and listening to soothing music helps. Having a fan buzz at night is calming, and will translate into your sleeping.
Evaluate your life and try to figure out why this dream is happening. are you stressed? depressed? angry? afraid? and work out those issues.

  45. i know how you feel Mike, but i learned to lucid dream by dreaming about a bad situation i have had over and over ( for about a week) then once the week was over i would dream how i would solved it or how i solved it (ex. becoming friends with my enemy, saving some one and etc.) From that point and on i was a lucid dreamer.

  46. You have received some exhalant answers, as a Minister with a minor in psychology and social work plus over15 year’s field experience and my own experience I offer this: Psalm 4 is an exhalant place to start. In that Psalm the first 7 verses show how one must cry out to God confessing your wrongs against Him and this brings the peace spoken of in verse 8.Peace for anyone begins with John 3:16, which then allows the Holy Sprit to come in and dwell within us, with one task being directing all of our out going utterances toward GOD to be translated and powered up toward God through the power of the Holy Sprit.
Nightmares come from several sources, bad or too much food to close to bedtime, chemical imbalance in our brains chemistry, and PTSD. I believe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. more times than recorded causes many of the other problems of the brain. The other possibility is the lack of REM sleep, as all ready stated by someone. How do you fail in not getting REM sleep; many of the probable causes all ready spoken of plus 1 more, sleep APNEA. A hint that you have APNEA is snoring. If you snore, you may have sleep Apnea. To know for sure you need a physical work up by an ENT doctor and a sleep study. This is a serious medical problem that can cause death! If your nightmares are not of a physical nature, but of a psychological matter then you need to get that worked out.
First make sure John 3:16 is a personnel choice, understanding with yourself and God. Determine if the nightmare is psychological, physical, or both. Follow up with the treatment plan!

  47. I don’t have nightmares, for some reason. I only have a problem with sleep paralysis. It scares me a lot; i think i’d rather have nightmares. It happens maybe once every two weeks. Look it up on the internet; it’s when you wake up, and are aware of waking, but cannot move, nor change your breathing patterns. WHen you sleep, you breathe less, not enough to move if you wanted to. My breathing patterns are still like that when I wake up, so I panic since I can’t take in more air. Panic is a mistake. You have to ride it out for at least a minute and a half until you can get a full breath again and roll over. I think I’d rather have nightmares.

  48. I used to have very vivid dreams as a child, as odd as this sounds I would see a construction truck before I would drift off. Usually if I had that sign there was enough time to shake myself from the nightmare. Now I get this eary feeling, and my body freezes up if I’m about to have a semi-conscious nightmare. All it takes is a movement from part of my body though to shake off that state as well.

The times i became lucid i got very excited and lost it after a short while. if you can recognize your nightmare try to become lucid, but don’t think of it as fighting back but imagine the clown as being nice and then change scene and everything about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dreaming

  53. your dream could symbolize a inner conflict that you have not resolve, or are avoiding. The lunatic w/crazy eyes chasing you can represent a part of your subconscious that you are afraid of confronting. eyes are usually representing the gateway to the soul. the open field give sense to loneliness /or isolation .the feeling of stuck in quicksand may reflect the feeling of being unable to resolve your inner problems. You may have to sort out what fears you have about yourself, and resolve them in order to stop the recurring nightmare

  54. I’m not sure if I can lucid dream or not. sometimes I have a nightmare, or even just a little adventure and i realize i can do whatever i want. a few months ago this happened, and i started jumping, and i made myself almsot fly with how far i jumped lol.

almost never have a nightmare without a happy (or at least safe) ending. if you keep having the nightmare, when you wake up, do something like make fun of it, or reason with it, or imagine a better ending, if you can, while IN the dream. i know lots of people have said this, but it all works ^^ good luck!

  56. i have had this dream of mine, almost five years ago!and it was like a signed to me now that i realized, how it was coming to me,mant times, and was all so the same, anyone has the same dreams?all you see is your self being sorounded by so many kinds of unharmful snakes, down your feet, and i hate really snakes are my terrible frightening animal, and that came over tim and ime again, but now i realized that the thing i have seen was, maybe one of my guides and show as snakes.i mean it is so kind of wierdo but its really true, and many times,i have told my partner, about that kind of dream and he just came and turned his back saying, its only a dream and no big deal about it.but i said why i have to see it many times in the same shape everything is so the same that i am able to remember most of that!then he said,to me to stop talking about it cause it makes me sounds like ODDLY crazy!so i just let all of that and kept right inside me!cause i realized even if i tell to some friends, they might just tell me the same, for the fact that my own, hasbund, has actually said, how it sounds real crazy! so there i was just thinking that maybe some friend told me that, when she was preegy, she had dreamed about snakes and she had a baby boy!the next she said she dreamed about a florest and she happened to have a baby girl so it was the one excused to tell my partner.and he said ok!i have never heared like that before but she said happened to her then maybe.so i was kind of relieve about my worries that he might really think think i was crazy! but he really did!.my gosh!it is the more horrible fact i have ever had in my life!.i maybe wanted to see the that way in my dream, for it will be less painful right!.but anyway its been all over the times!its been rolled and i just have to see them, and maybe try to let them happen and make my self believe it is just some part of my dream.cause its kind freaking when i think its happening all around so real!.

  57. Lol, funny! One of the previous times I’ve been a lucid dreamer is when I was at my school, and there was a slide in the 700 building (considered “trailers”) and some guy was talking to a staff member about how there was a huge, hairy monster down there. So I accidentally let the random thought (since I realized I was dreaming and knew I could control my dream) linger in my head, and I slid down and found a monster. I said calm down, and he started chasing me, LOL!!! I woke up..
Yeah, being a lucid dreamer is kind of hard to prevent random thoughts when you’re thinking about preventing random thoughts… :D

  58. When I have nightmares, I feel like a spectator. It feels like real life, until the actual nightmare occurs. Once that happens, for some weird reason, EVERY single time, I recognize it’s a nightmare and wake myself up unconsciously. It’s weird. But one time, I had a very scary nightmare when I was 10. I was on the Great Wall of China (Weird huh?). I was in the middle and I see two people, one in the front one behind me. Then I get rammed by these people with a spear on both sides. For some reason, I felt as if my back actually got stabbed and when I woke up I screamed in pain.

  59. this’ll sound crazy, but i’m one of those 100,000.
i am a lucid dreamer, and i gotta say it’s pretty cool.
ever since i watched that “honey i shrunk the kids” episode on tv (remember when they turned the movie to a show?) where the sister walks in to the dream machine thing, i’ve always tried to make myself know i’m in a dream, so i can control it. i have to say, my favorite is flying away or making the water fountain my favorite flavor. the test is if you have to ask your self if your dreaming, you probably are.

  60. This seems like a pretty common anxiety dream and is often the mind forcing the body to wake up, usually because it needs to have a PEE! Dreams like this more often revovle around toilets which are locked or broken, but it would not be a surprise if being attacked by someone could also be this kind of dream.

You must remember that dreams are not reality and often help us deal with the anxieties we have in our everyday lives.

  61. I lucid dream, one way to get rid of the nightmares, assuming you can become lucid, like me and a few others, and ask it why it’s wanting to hurt you. Usually it changes into something, walks away, or just disappears. You can even become friends with it if you say the right things. :)

  62. I am a lucid dreamer. It’s actually something that I learned how to do. After beig kicked out of my parents bed one too many times, I realized I needed to learn how to control my dreams. I started doing this in pleasant dreams. I kind of realized that EVERY guy falling in love with me was not going to actually happend in reality, so I must be dremaing. So, I started controlling the situation.
Anyways, now I find that when I am having a pleasant dream I tend to just enjoy it as is, nightmares I switch around.
However, one problem I have always had and continue to encounter is a dream where I’m flying or jumping. The moment before I hit the ground, I start to gasp and at that exact moment I wake up and take a deep breath of pillow. (I sleep on my stomach.) I haven’t been able to figure out yet how to fix my way out of that one.

  63. Hi Mike,

This nightmare is quite similar to the one portrayed in “The Running Man” by Michael Gerard Bauer. The book features a boy who experiences this dream of where he is being chased by a running man, but he can’t escape because he is stuck in quicksand.

  64. Wow. i didn’t know i was so rare.

i have been a lucid dreamer since childhood but also suffer from sleep paralysis AND i have had my share of recurring nightmares. In fact, i think it safe to say that my dream life is far more exciting than my waking hours.

Lucid dreaming is often brought on by fatigue and a lack of oxygen and not something i would recommend trying to “learn”. But i Do think that writing dreams down, talking about them is good advice.

Often when we break the barriers between dreams and reality the nightmares become unnecessary. They are a function, after all, of waking life. Most believe them to be a kind of dumping ground.

When they are brought out into the daylight, dissected and exposed, they often will disappear.

So, writing, drawing and talking are all ways to cope and so is making sure to get plenty of sleep in the first place.

  65. I have had dreams that were more like I was an observer, not a participant. That is, I saw people I recognized, but when I woke up, I had absolutely no idea who they were.

It’s like my consciousness has an antenna and is picking up the awareness of another person. And the chaotic nature of my dreams means my consciousness is flitting about various people, that I cannot focus on one to the exclusion of others.

So I got to thinking, while I am asleep and my concious brain is shut down, my internal chatterbox is not yapping, am I somehow “seeing the world” through the eyes and mind and perceptions of another person?

Now consider nightmares, I rarely have them, but the few I have do not occur in familiar scenes or familiar people.

  68. i get nightmares, but they’re never recurring nightmares. i have a different one every night involving things from my daily life. the acting out with a happier ending probably won’t work for me if i have a new one every night.

  70. I have bin there so many times before. I still do now have nightmares. I have tried lucid dreaming, and Im always in a situation where I escape. But, I get caught right after I escape. It will always, and was always a fear of being kidnapped. Or, I’ll have a dream when Im in my old school, with all my old friends, and we all start dying out of nowhere.
The school dream starts out like this: There is a prom at my old school, so everyone goes. Next, someone tried to leave the school, the doors are locked, and before they can tell us, they are killed. When everyone notices there are no teachers or staff around, we magically split up into groups. [That is the unrealistic part] I find myself with always 2 other people. One of them always ends up dying, and then its down to me and my best friend. We go back downstairs. [this is the most descriptive part that scares me the most D:] Then we find our other best friends, dead. We hear a killer coming so we hide, only to see they are finishing off one of our friends. So, we try to save our friend. Either my best friend or
good friend will die. By, being stabbed to death.
I hate that dream. D: It always sends tingles down my spine.

It’s totally natural i have a four month old son and he have nightmares and screams in his sleep and look at it he’s just a baby but everyone has it you just have to figure out whay to learn from it or what is it trying to tell you

  72. hmmm looks like i need some coffee, or spell check

    1. Don’t eat any foods 2-3 hours before going to bed. If you have to eat don’t eat anything heavy, try some cereal.
    2. Drink some Tampica Juice ok ok if you don’t have that drink anything with Mango juice in it.
    3. Sleep on your side or your stomach, NEVER SLEEP ON YOUR BACK… THAT HAG WILL GET YOU EVER TIME….

good luck and when you are stuck in the mud or quick sand repeat JESUS over and over again until you wake up.

    good luck.

  73. My nightmares usually involved somebody (or something) attacking me, I try to run away, but after a while, I get so tired that I cannot run anymore, causing me to fall down or even making impossible to run. For reasons not linked to my nightmares, I started to workout (weights), I also started a cardio program which gave me a lot of strength and endurance, I could run several miles without getting tired. I guess this gave me the confidence because now in my nightmares I can easily run away and if necessary, to fight and successfully beat the opponent :) .

  74. I remeber in one of my dreams when I was about 8-10 years old I was in some Scooby Doo episode and I was with Shaggy and Scooby and Shaggy told me not to let the clown catch you he would suck out your ‘juices’

So we saw the clown and then I said “Wait, before we start, could I say something?”

“Mason! Try to wake up! You are having a nightmare and must wake up”

I laughed when I woke up!

  76. Huh. I think I’m one of those lucid dreamers. I do that all the time. I had a nightmare the other morning that I changed when I started waking up.

  77. I don’t really know if I can have lucid dreams, but I did like some others and knew how to wake up. The thing is when I do it, I always think of what I’d do in real life, and it happens. Most of the time when I know I’m leaving is: I turn around and I look whatever in the face, and it slows down. Then in about 3 seconds when it’s right near my face: Poof! It’s gone. I had a recurring dream one night, and then I ate some food and found out that I was just hungry. I went back to bed and had the dream again. This time I looked the creature in the eyes and Poof I’m gone. Never had that dream again, never want to either, but it all depended on my stomach.

  78. I had a problem with nightmares when I was very young. I found the cure was to learn to recognise that it was a nightmare and wake up to escape it. They stopped after a while. The thing is to look for clues. Nightmares seem very real, but there are always things that don’t add up or make sense in a nightmare. When you you learn to spot these clues and realise that the nightmares are not real, they stop coming. The down side is that you start spotting nice dreams are not real too and you stop having them too.

  79. I have alot of dreams of flying and some kind of creature is trying 2 grab my feet. I read up on it and the dreambook said that people who have flying dreams is a sign of being gifted. I don’t know, however it’s pretty scary@ times. I also dream alot about water.

  80. Dreams are just that dreams. Its your unconscious mind, they stem from things we do or say or even see threw out our day.Very rarely do they actually make sense, but that’s the beauty of it. They aren’t suppose to make sense. Don’t be stressed over something you have absolutely no control over. Take it for what it is, just a dream. that fact it keeps repeating is cause you think about it allot. therefore it remains in your unconscious mind.

  81. I don’t know if anyone has suggested this but if so, I am supporting.

Generally when we have recurring dreams, there is something going on in our waking moments that we are not dealing with.

Just as the dream that began. He dreams that he is being chased and just about when he is almost caught, he wakes up.

What are you running from in your life. There is something that you do not want to face or deal with.
I can pretty much guarantee, that if you review what going on with you, and be honest with yourself, and deal with whatever it is, that you will stop having that dream.
What ever it is that you do not want to face is troubling you and you do well by hiding it when you are awake, but when you sleep, it comes and shows you a distorted picture that will make you feel.
So weather it is a monster, crazy maniac, or whatever, it scares you and that is what the dream shows through feelings.

Deal with your issue and make that dream go away.

  82. to all the people who question why people say things like , trust me,believe me i am telling the truth, i am not lying, i will tell you the truth, usually means they lie alot, where as they have been caught in so many lies nobody believes them. that goes for men and woman. yes it is a known fact. someone once told me that and they were right.

  83. …And then a unicorn descends from the sky and skewers the lunatic, when the unicorn flied away splattered in gore you suddenly realize that your feet have become stuck. Thinking quickly, you whip out your jar of petroleum jelly, and lubricate your feet, allowing you to continue frisking through the field or whatever you were doing.

Dr. Phil is right, at least it worked for me. The really problem was my ultra-weird ending to my dream (which involved raining lollipops, and a coke can filled with old hiking boots).
