Answers outage: now over

Hey, everyone–

The Answers Team is happy to announce that the site is back after undergoing the second part of essential maintenance.  We can see from your hundreds of passionate comments on our blogs worldwide that you are all fond of the site and there are even a few Answerholics among you, so we’re sorry we had to deprive you of your favorite site for a few hours. But please trust us when we say the work was essential and will make Answers stronger and healthier from now on. This will conclude the planned maintenance for the immediate future.

Rest assured after this maintenance, the site will look just the same as it did before and should help it avoid future downtime.

Many thanks!

  1. Why are my answers to questions still being “bounced”, then? I tried to answer one question three times and was unable to post my answer!

Would it be so hard to put this sentence in the original announcment so that the regular users did not have to answer the question dozens of time???

  5. Did the Top Ten lists get updated? They appear to be still stuck. Inquiring minds want to know.

This can’t be that difficult, guys and gals! (I’m a programmer. Do you need some help?)

  7. It is 11/23 9:52am EST and I still can’t access my Yahoo Answers account. Here is the message I see:
    We’re taking a breather…
Yahoo! Answers is taking a coffee break. We appreciate your patience while it recharges! We apologize for any inconvenience.

Any ideas why and what to do?

  8. Hi,

I recently had an answer deleted and 10 points deducted from my score. The only reason I got for this is that the answer I provided violated your guidelines and rules. After reading these guidelines and rules I still didn’t understand why my answer was deleted. When I asked for a specific reason why “my” answer was deleted I didn’t get any response.

Why is this? Can anyone flag responses as inappropriate and get someone’s answer booted without a clear reason?

    I’m asking in all sincerity.

  10. I see people asking about career paths and a few poster seeem to post project pay day garbage. Or there is one saying I can’t type that much but it it direct you to a vidio which ask you to down load special scipt then whenyou cancel it direct you to a porn site. I would like see Yahoo to find some software that can monitor questions and identify these people. They pray on minors trying to learn to be resposable when they become adults. The kids asking questions about how to earn money some of the questioner may be techically in violation of the rules with respect to age but they don’t need to be scamed by Project payday or other online garbage about filling out seurveys i had to get it out of my system
