Can’t Yahoo/Ans create a draft page to store a question response during your coffee break? Often a lot of work and time is dumped because an answer can’t be submitted, which is very discouraging

I hope that the top ten leaderboards for each will be fixed soon. This has been an issue since June or July, and many yahoo! answers users are curious as to what is with the delay on getting this fixed.
How about fixing the system so I can answer a question or ask one….It always tells me it taking a breather…..If Y!A keeps taking this breather..you might as well shut it down

I believe it’s time to purge old questions. It’s bad enough that we don’t have the option to delete old questions, but some from 2 + years ago… really should be considered.
Why don’t they fix how trolls basically run yahoo answers and how trolls have all the power.

So you can still answer questions today and tomorrow but just not doing those time.
Please fix it so the automated answers (bots/trolls) can’t come on and post the same answer over and over to questions.

Why…when I appeal a violation notice, do you always send a response “You did indeed violate……”. but no reason is ever given…what exactly was violated?
I feel I am being reported by little kids who don’t like the answers they get…and by trolls.

I finished answering a question and when I pressed enter to submit, it went to the screen about maintainance being done on the 18th, and it isn’ t even time for it to happen.

it’s frustrating when you’ve answered a question and that “opps” message pops up and your answer is deleted. but i guess updates are for the better
Glad you updating system. I worked hard typing my 10 answers in Notepad to Q’n “Worded problems Urgent chestnut” (says Show how work it). But since 0300 am 17 Nov trying to submit answers, always get “Yahoo answers on break”. It’s terrible my answers growing stale, going to miss the 3 day cutoff to submit them. I tried sending as email, but system allows only short message. Stopped at answer #3 of 10. Under that it says limit 10 emails per day. Why limit size of email, frequency of email, when have a “block this user” button every where?
Are you also updating the dictionary and spelling for some of your categories. In the military section for instance it does not accept some standard military acronyms and in the martial arts section it does not accept or or recognize the spelling of some common martial arts terms. Thank you.

hi, my name is Barney and I’m addicted to yahoo answers. It’s a lot of fun, but can’t stand the frustration sometimes. I take it personaly when I can’t get the computer to cooperate with me. . I usually blame it on the staff, but I shouldn’t usually the blame lies squarely on me for asking a stupid question. Thumbs downs and reported answerrs gets to me too
A category for prayer would be nice – but should have a headline saying those offended should stay off. And give the atheists their own site to vent too. They’re all over the place spewing venom. A racist site is in order too it seems as it has been too much on immigration issues – I can’t even read that stuff anymore. And a immigration toleration site too would be nice too. Only 100% Native Americans shouldn’t be as nasty as some of these people. My ancestors came in the 1600s, 1700s, 1800s, and 1900s, from Poland, England and France. Most of us are all from immigrant stock whether our immigrants came here willingly or not. I speak Spanish pretty well. But I do fear if a prayer site was put up however, the Satanists and atheists would spit out evil on every page…. Thanks for telling us Yahoo is going to be closed – love your site — Glenn

When you ask a question and you don’t feel any of the answers are good, why can’t we pick ‘no best answer’ and leave it at that? When the questions go to voting people will vote for their own answer, which isn’t fair for the one asking the question. It’s not fair for them to get 10 points for an inane answer. This should be changed, and if the question has to go to voting no one who answered should be allowed to vote for themselves. Thanks.

Questions get reported for very silly reasons , seems like no one bothers to read it before deleting it .

Bad news, we already see what’s happening all the major internet homepage providers have poorly structured propaganda all across the page, I guess this is one way to stimulate the economy, but you should have consulted some tobacco marketing executives they know how to get it done.

Yahoo-answers need more control about reports.
Many questions are being deleted because Yahoo doesn’t check if the reports are honest.
The question are automatically deleted and there is no way to appeal.
The trolls are getting ridiculous. The racism and hate onboard is over the top. I believe in free speech but not hate mongering. If you can’t disagree with some civility then you should be banned. Please do something about these wretched trolls. Thanks

I hope this maintenance is good for YA. I appreciate it being a safe place to hang out and earn points while helping people, even if there are bugs to be worked out.
Are you going to rid YA of those people trying to spread malware while ur doing this maintenance? That would be wonderful. I am getting tired of seeing them. Ive reported them but they are like flies; it’s impossible to kill all of them.

Thanks for finally getting real people to review violations appeals…It would be nice to have the content reviewed
BEFORE the violation is issued…but it’s a big improvement anyway…I think there should be no censorship whatsoever except for obscenity, hate mail, and spam..otherwise, free expression should be encouraged…Some people come to the site just to be entertained and have a laugh, and that should not be discouraged…Love the site anyway…thanks!

Hope something is done about the trolls and needless violations, I have mostly left the site due to this problem. There should be a time limit on the age of an answer/question that can be reported (ex something from 3, 6, 12 months ago should not be able to be reported, obviously someone is trolling about accounts for this to happen). There should be an option of approving fans before they have total access of your account. Also I do wish you people would look up the meaning of “polls” and “surveys”, most of which are only people’s opinions and do require some “chatting” in order to answer…they do more “chatting” in the Religion and Spirituality/Relationships and Pet rooms.
But it is 5 30 now. and still not working.

I just had a “moment” when I realized it was supposed to be up and running at 5:00am and it’s 5:39.Come on,you’re killing me Yahoo!.
Changes that are NEEDED:
(1) A HUMAN to investigate every report before taking any action.
(2) Literate humans with adult reading comprehension to respond to all feedback & “defences”.
(3) An option to switch the spell-checker to ENGLISH, instead of the Umerikin deefolt. – er… American default.
(4) Removal of the alleged Preview page – it does NOT match the Answers page for number oif characters per column-width or length or spelling.
(5) Removal of the space-stripper that prevents us from displaying table-data in columns.
(6) Removal of the “maiden aunt” feature that turns certain words (such as bitch = a female canine) into asterisks AFTER they have been allowed in the Preview page.
(7) Either allow an unlimited length for each answer, or set a limit that prevents further input when that number of characters is reached.
(8) Add an ability to request that various words and abbreviations be added to the spell-checker.
(9) Removal of the feature that places a ? if the asker ran out of space before ending the question. Possibly replace it with a feature that refuses to accept the question UNLESS the Asker has placed a ? at the end.

Have you guys not noticed that the current SYSTEM TIME IS UNDER EVERY POST?
If anything, you need to fix the report system and govern the Other -Cultures & Groups section, along with many other sections because too many racists, or maybe just people with multiple accounts as well, ask offensive questions, and last time I checked, “venting, ranting or using hate speech,” is disallowed according to the community guidelines. Defending yourself however, ISN’T a rule. When we actually post something that’s IN FAVOR for the rules, they report US, and we get violated. Sure enough, I’m in favor of people having their own opinions, but when those opinions are limited because of rules, they must be enforced. It difficult for people to enjoy themselves and answer questions like normal people because others who don’t even take the site seriously, simply flood categories with offensive material. Also, I believe you should ease up on the suspensions. Too many people that FOLLOW the rules get reported, then suspended by the people whom actually BROKEN the rules. Also, the people I talked to even said the staff doesn’t tell them the reason they got suspended.
Therefore, I believe if the report system is to be kept, allow only levels 5-7 to use it, or the top contributors because they are more trusted. I doubt any level 5-7, or top contributor abuses the system, and think, if they do, the staff would know who to look for. If they have multiple accounts, they would have the same IP addresses. Also, if the TCs or high level users ARE abusive, the regular members should be allowed to notify it; not “report it” so it can be deleted, but rather send the staff at least SOME KIND OF message to inform them the high level or TC member is corrupt, and they can look into it. Also, I believe certain categories like Other – Cultures & Groups, Other – Society & Culture, Religion & Spirituality, Elections, etc, should be governed by a moderator or so, much like lesser forums, powered by “vBulletin” and such. With a trusted mod with the power to delete, the community could be enforced better because (s)he could delete questions found offensive, along with answers. The the high level people and TCs could help do that job as well. In conclusion, please, instead of taking the time fixing the appearance and font in the textbox of Yahoo! Answers, try fixing the report system, cold-hearted suspensions, and trying giving the high level and top contributor users the power, actually FOLLOW the guidelines, make levels 5-7 ONLY able to report, and govern those categories I listed. Then, this place would be MUCH better in my opinion.

I really enjoy y/a, but I can’t deal with me getting violated for stupid reasons, this need to be looked into more careful. How can someone ask a question, make a racial comment, and I can’t state how I feel I don’t think so, its not fair. I am bored, so get things running again.
Can you do something about the constant chatting in the parenting section. and you should clean up the thailand sextion dining out section. it is nonsense by stupid mom.

We each need to send Yahoo! Answers’ parent company $1 because they are not doing so well these days. Yahoo’s world wide value has dropped from $130 billion down to $15 billion. Founder and CEO Jerry Yang is stepping down. And now, Answers! is down. Remember when they took down the old-style message boards? Never came back like they promised did they? And Yahoo was doing good back then…Come on, let’s send $1 each maybe even per month to get them back on financial track.
I personally like the reporting violations. Before you complain, check your question or answer and be sure there is or is not a violation. As a top contributor I am often turned in (mostly by other top contributors) for no reason other than for a short time my answer is deleted. I can assure all of you here the Yahoo Answer team does review the content of the answers or questions. Perhaps you should do the same with regards to violations.
I also believe the leaderboards should be tossed out the window. Just like many comments here state don’t loose my points, update the leader boards. Is this the only reason you are tossing out any answer just to get points to move to the top?
Also, I like the fact that there are answers and questions still on the site to use as a reference. I think all questions and answers should be kept as long as they can.
I agree, Appeals need to be looked at closer and not just responded by an automated response from your employees. There are alot of people out there that have had this happen to them and had there account suspended, me being one of them, because kids or other immature creatures decided it be ok to abuse the REPORT ABUSE button. The whole system with thumbs up and thumbs down is a bad idea too, it provokes people to take things a little personal. You should only have the option of saying what needs to be said once, then people would take the time to review what they wrote and put a little extra thought into what they write. This is a PUBLIC forum therefore children under the age of 18 need to be directed to a place where they can be monitored because some of the questions about GUNS and AMMO in the Hunting Section is getting ridiculous and Im sure the BATF would love to find out that Yahoo Answers has created an open forum where Illegal Firearms are being discussed and kids are learning how to use and modify them. Most importantly though this is a PUBLIC Site everyone GOOD or BAD that has an answer has the RIGHT to respond, by reporting and suspending our accounts you are in violation with our Constitutional rights. Not everyone is going to like what other people have to say but they ASKED THE QUESTION, there is no perfect answer and no perfect answerers. Please make the correct changes to this forum before necessary legal action is taken.

Why doesn’t someone review questions that are in voting and settle the tiebreaker catagory? I see questions that are two or more months old that are still in voting.
Your team is too small. You should have more Top Contributors at Level 7 be able to help review questions and answers for the catagory that they are in as one of the Top Contributors.

Can’t Yahoo/Answers create a draft page to store a question response during your coffee break? Often a lot of work and time is dumped because an answer can’t be submitted, which is very discouraging

My suggestion? Stop being so uptight on your rules. I had a question deleted and when I asked all you could reply was, “This question violated the terms and conditions…”
I researched and I could find no rule that I broke.
Maybe Yahoo Answers isn’t going in the direction your team originally wanted however maybe it’s best to let it evolve and let it go where it’s going to go. If people, ie. your fans, want to do things a little differently then being a stickler for the rules might keep people away.
That’s just my two cents.
