Ask Mike: The longest campaign
Hey Guys,
Is anyone else sick of this election? Back in 2004, I was exhausted by the time the big day came, but I don’t think I was as fed up back then as I am now. How long has the campaigning been going on?
I did a bit of research and found that Senator Obama announced his candidacy on February 10, 2007. That’s over a year and half of speeches and kissing babies. John McCain has been on the trail nearly as long. The Arizona senator announced his candidacy on April 25, 2007. Senator Clinton was the earliest to throw her hat in the ring. She started running on January 20, 2007.
Such long amounts of time seem excessive, so I checked to see if the timeframe is really getting longer or if it’s just my fatigued imagination. Turns out I’m not crazy. Al Gore, who ran for president in 2000, announced his candidacy on June 16, 1999. President Bush announced his candidacy at roughly the same time, in June of ‘99. That’s several months later than Senators Obama and McCain.
In 2004, things were a bit different. George W. Bush was an incumbent so his candidacy was simply assumed. Senator Kerry, who ran unsuccessfully against the President, announced his candidacy in December of 2002. Howard Dean, best remembered for his “Dean scream,” was the earliest into the pool. He announced that he had formed an exploratory committee on May 31, 2002. That’s about two and a half years before the election. I don’t have all the stats in front of me, but that’s gotta be a record.
So, while it seems like the Obama-McCain campaign has gone on forever, things were worse in years past. Still, like a lot of you, I’ll be glad when it’s over. I can finally enjoy a few weeks of peace and quiet before the race for 2012 begins.
Thanks for reading,

I don’t think the word “sick” quite covers it…I think devastated is a better word. No matter how it turns out we are in BAD shape. Neither person has a magic wand…and frankly that is what we seem to need because we just can’t seem to get the concept of sacrafice.
I am sick and tired of the extra long campaining, too. I cannot wait til November 5th. I’m sick of speeches, interviews, smear ads and debates. It is so annoying.
It’s funny that you posted this, I just logged on to post something because I’m tired of recieving so many flyers in the mail. Just today I recieved 10. I’m not estimating and I’m not exaggerating. It has been going on like this for the last two weeks. That would be over 140 flyers from people saying that they know what to do with my money. They know how to stop wasteful spending, but that’s exactly what they’re doing. I cant remember the last time that these people showed up at a community event. Exactly where their constituents are. I’m tired of walking to my mailbox and finding a full box of the same things I see every day. Tell me something but dont bombard me with your name, it doesn’t make me like you any more.
I cannot wait til November 4th comes then the mud slinging from BOTH canidates will stop and things will start to return to normal hopefully
I was tired of it before it started.
Not at all. I enjoy the endless spurious attacks and claims of saving the taxpayers money.
COOL~
Yeah, I’d say AT LEAST a year.
I’m in high school and last year in AP History we were talking about the presidential nominees and now this year in AP Government we’re talking about it (well, obviously). But the point is-this is 2 school years full of McCain & Obama!
Poor, Baby. You’re tired. This is the most important election in HISTORY, and you are whining about it? Maybe it would be different if I thought you might have actually got out and done something about it – canvassed, talked to others about voting, did anything but sit on your butt and whine about it.
This blog absolutely makes me sick, and someone should slap you silly for being such a whiner. I hope you at least took some time out of your “poor me” blogging to actually go and vote.
uh, rant? Follow your own rules, please.
I’m not sick of the campaign, I’m just sick of waiting.
Yeah, I tired of it. It is all anticlimactic to me. I’ve already voted and am anxious to see the results. Something know in less than a week. I hope! I know there is many threats of protests but I also understand that the courts are ready to make quick rulings. So we’ll see very shortly one way or another.
Its really ignorant of you to say this. Do you not understand the important and time consuming this election is? There are plenty reasons of this. Would you like for a stranger to pop up a couple months before election day trying to become the leader of the land you supposedly love. I dont understand some people. If campaigning wasnt long enough you’ll still be complaining. This is a very, very serious matter.
You’re feeling like most American’s are right now.
On YouTube, I heard Karl Rove discuss this election and I couldn’t agree more.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oVNKKMFCq4
I too am sick of this long campaign. I am also sick of this long war. Ditto on the long economic crisis. So I vote “enough” (aka change). Make the Iraqis pay for Operation Rebuild or whatever they call it. Iraq sits on top of the second largest reserve of oil in the world. We obviously need our money more than they do. We keep our money, we prepare our troops for other more pressing threats in the world, we vote for Obama. Problem solved.
What do you mean sick and fed up? I’m having the time of my life. The shouting is getting insane, people are saying all kinds of ridiculous things. People are getting SO desperate! Let the election end with a BANG.
Election? What election?
You are right but saying it so publicly this close to an election will encourage people not to bother voting.
Thats a bad thing. You should have criticised afterwards.
Voter apathy kills democracies, Don’t fuel it. At least this election has brought a few more people out to vote.
Good luck.
i am very much sick of this election… its like scraping nails on a chock board… only it doesnt stop.. its on t.v. its on the radio.. its in the papers… its on the net… im inclined to vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE. might simply cast my name as a write in vote.. that way even if i simply vote for myself, i can STILL complain about the next president, cause i voted.
i mean, what gives a political CANDIDATE the right to interefere with what time the world series starts..
I think it’s rediculous to run for any office for that period of time, but especially so when you are already a Senator responsible for representing your constituents. I would be rather angry if my Senator was spending 2 years of his term campaigning instead of doing the job we elected him to do and drawing fat check at the same time.
ok don’t you think you have gone on way too long about the past. look at what is going on now . things have changed for the worst. this is a very important election. i myself have already voted for obama and i feel priviledged and honered that i can actually say i finally found a candidate who has instilled some faith that there may be hope for a better future. i grew up in a very racist area . there were no black people around. my mother didn’t allow me to talk to black people. there were kkk rally’s almost every weekend . these people are fools .times have changed . love has grown . my mother is voting for obama . she really never had any hate for the black person she was just blinded by what ignorant people told her. if you were blind and nobody told you obama was black you would vote for him because he will make a difference for you and the us .
just me
I am tired of it too!
I am getting 3 to 4 phone calls a day from both parties telling me who I should vote for and why.
But, get this! It’s not like there is a human on the other end of the phone; they are using those annoying machines that automatically call people and spout their politics.
Oddly enough, when the US Congress passed the “do not call laws” many years ago, they exempted politicians from the law! So, they are fee to call us as often as they like, and interrupt our lunch, dinner, shower, whatever.
No, you’re not going crazy, It has been dragged out for quite a long time…Maybe not such a bad thing though. We need a better President, and we need to get to know him.
ughhh sick is an understatement!!! its just extremely annoying. I cant wait until November 5th! No more “change” and “hockey mom” speeches. Im glad to know i’m not the only person who feels this way.
Good job
Im S.Lindsay and i approve this message!
I think it’s becus the longer they campaign the more money they have time to raise for themselves; and the people working for them (creating jobs and volunteer work) and the more time they have to ponder about all the things this country has wrong with it, so the more time they have to invent an answer that will be more right then wrong which gives them a better chance at winning on Election Day.
In a way, it is good. Your country is screwed to its’ core. From terrorism, from wars, from financial crisis. In a way, there are people who are looking for the best manager to run this corporation that is called United States of America. No other countries will have this long a campaign. They too chose the wrong managers who run into debts rather than earn profits for themselves and for all.
I am physically and mentally and emotionally spent on this one…the ups and downs…the stunned realization that the other candidate could actually become President…then days of visualizing that…then little tiny glimmers of hope that we can pull this out…yes…it is exhausting…in a different way than other kinds of stress and disappointments and worry.
We are getting our money’s worth with this election. It has been the talk of the day for almost two years. We’ve been treated to outrageous behavior from our politicians and many of us have loved it. I won’t vote for either of the 2 candidates-can’t stand either of them. The American public deserves what it gets.
This has been the worst fight I’ve seen in 30 years. It has gone beyond irrational and ‘ugly’…people have just lost their collective minds. And because of it’s horrid ugliness, I’m going to be thankful to God when it is finally over with. I can bear it no longer. I’m to the point where I havent listened to the radio in months and I’m watching movie channels on TV so I see little if any attempts at political saturation. The only place I cannot get away from it is here, on the Internet. I’ve been trying to avoid it as much as possible, but its not really working too well. Why does it have to be this insane? I admit, its pretty bad any other time, but this is the worst I’ve seen it in three decades! People are at each others’ throats, making threats, being vulgar and nasty toward one another…how can this be the best election ever? How can this be the most important? Its a travesty! I’m embarrassed in front of the rest of the world because of it! And I’m just tired of it. I wished it had never happened.
Please, God…make it go away…
The length of the campaign only reflects the desperation caused by the last eight years. Focusing on the transition helps ease the pain. Its a pain-killer in a way, but come February and inauguration, things will get dismal again. dont worry
I am just ready for whatever delegat that gets elected to somehow fix the mess we are in. No more broken promises. I’m not tired of the campaign i’m tired of the bs we somehow seem to find ourselves stuck in. This is soooo important to america as a union. we shouldn’t be complaining we should be excited… well nervous sound more like it. But still, both of these two people have the fate of OUR nation in their hands. Bashing them is the last thing we need to do.
oops I think I spelled that wrong. lol. oh well I never said I was a genius. he he he just an average american…
ok, does anyone remember the last election? It’s never over. Of course when election day comes everyone will think it, but then you’ll have stories about how the loser should have won or what contributed to their win. People are getting too involved with politics and i think thats the main problem of america. All of a sudden politicians are being treated like celebrities.
And on a side issue, i don’t understand why people have to be republican or democratic. i certainly don’t agree with either party, although i lean towards a republicans values and i like the democrats tax breaks.
and for nick, the do not call list applies only to companies that are trying to sell you items. i worked for a telemarketing survey company for a little bit!
I agree that this has gone on way to long. How many times can one say the same thing over and over again. I just think of all that money that was spent. It could be put to much better use instead of campaign ads. I think there should be a limit of one year.
I think he means that almost everyone is tired of the mudslinging, the incite of peoples hatred towards one or another for being democrat or republican. Im strongly one, and have been out there trying to spread the word. But the truth is there is nothing you can do to change peoples minds no matter how much you campaign or make accusations. Most people already have a idea of what they want or dont want and getting angry and furious while trying to convince people otherwise is tiresome. I just want it to be over with. Im tired of being worried and angry with the other side. I think this might be the sentiment from BOTH parties if I might say so.
I’m tired of the 25+ emails I get everyday from my mother about it!
I’m not tired of the election process…how else can we see how each canadates behaves under scrutiny and pressure. Its kinda like dating…
sorry for the spelling.
Amen, Mike! I agree wholeheartedly. I can’t wait for the election to be over and for the country to move the hell on with it.
And the commenter who thought the timing of this blog was bad – seriously? If someone’s going to be dissuaded from voting because someone on Yahoo! says that they’re tired of the campaigning, that person probably wasn’t too motivated to vote in the first place. Or very smart, for that matter.
Yes, this is an important election. We GET that. It’s also been a very long campaign and there’s nothing wrong with wanting it to be at an end. The longer things have gone on, the nastier they have become, and that benefits no one in any political party.
Personally, I’m keeping my TV off until we have a new president, and I’m only reading the comics in the newspaper. I’ve had enough mudslinging, shameless self-promotion, and general nastiness for one year.
The campaign for the ‘12 election will begin November 5th of THIS year! The campaigning for the ‘08 election began around the SAME time back in ‘04. Get USED to it, folks! We brought this upon ourselves with 24/7 cable news stations desperate to talk about SOMETHING!!!
What about the oversaturated coverage of things that don’t matter as much. We don’t so much get stories on the issues as much as the millions of polls that come out. Obama up 3. Obama up 1. Obama up 4 . Obama up 7. Obama up 4. Obama up 12. Obama up 2. Obama up 3.455901. ……when will it stop.
I’m sick of this election because I am tired of hearing about race, as in black or white. It has been proven time and time again that the color of a person’s skin does not in any way reflect upon their individual intelligence, values or character. I’ve over-heard people (of all colors) saying that if one votes for McCain, he/she is a racist. Clearly if one votes for a candidate based merely on the race of the person, then in my opinion you have race issues, whether the candidate be black or white. Unfortunately the statement about McCain is true in some cases, but it is the same for Obama. People are voting for Obama JUST because he is black. People are voting for McCain JUST because he is white. Why is it that when a white person votes for the white guy/girl they are racist? BUT When a black person votes for the black guy/girl they are just supporting their fellow African-Americans? It’s a double standard!!
People are not just racist against opposite colors, either. Some Americans hate British people and vice-versa. Africans judge each other by the darkness and lightness of their skin. Alot of Arabic people hate other Arabs because of the group or tribe they belong to. It’s not just color, people hate people for many reasons. All of which are ignorant and useless.
Racism is bad, period. We all should teach our children that this world, this country was built on diversity. Being racist defies everything Modern-America stands for. Before picking a candidate and voting one should consider the values, policies and honesty, etc. of that candidate. Does his/her character and beliefs match your own? It should not matter whether the skin matches your own or not. There are more important issues in this country to focus on, such as education, the economy, the war, and oh so many others. Besides the President can not change the race issues in this country alone, we all have to put in work to make it go away. AND my point of all this is……..
THE MORE WE TALK ABOUT RACE AS IN A NEGATIVE, THE LONGER IT WILL STAY ALIVE!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being white, black, hispanic, mongolian, chinese, japanese, sudanese, laotian, indian, jewish, arabic or any other race or ethnic background. What matters is your character. Bob Marley believed that the cure for racism is love. and I would have to agree. If you’re a caring person you can’t hate anyone, especially not for their color. BUT I think that it takes a little more than love to change it, it also takes Education. Most racist people are very ignorant. They lack a good education and were probably raised around racist slurs and the like. For example, I myself was raised around racist slurs, racist people. I as a child, unfortunately, adopted those values because that’s all I knew, but as I grew older I began to see for myself how wrong they were. I could see that hating someone for their skin color was absolutely ridiculous. I mean if your gonna put all that energy into hating someone for gods-sake at least have a good reason. Like I hate him because he is a rapist or a murderer. I hate child molesters. I hate violent people, etc. Hate is a natural emotion, but when taken to the extremes it can become a monster. anger and ignorance go hand in hand.
Show your kids from an early age the wonder and excitement of discovering different cultures. Explain to them what racism is, it’s a disease some people suffer from, a lack of knowledge, lack of tolerence. Let your kids know that racism is bad and if they encounter it on any level they should maintain a cool head and if things get violent they should seek out help from an adult. That they should never participate in any kind of racism what-so-ever. Do not watch shows that contain racism around them, especially ones that make light of it or make it look glamorous. Kids look up to their parents and elders it is up to us to make a change, it starts with you. You practice good behaviour and morals and your child with follow along. Kids want their parents to be proud of them, so they will do as you do, generally. Unfortunately there are some parents that want to keep racism alive and actively teach it to their offspring. That’s why it is so important to teach your kids diversity and the essence behind each culture at an early age. They should be well educated about the different people in this world in a positive way so that when they do encounter a racist person on either end, they will already be prepared with the knowledge and tolerence to know better. It’s up to the older people to teach the younger people wrong from right. It starts with us and the next generation, if we teach our kids right, they teach theirs right, before you know it racism will just be a thing of the past.
Vote for the candidate that best fits your values and beliefs. I am. I will be honored and proud to have Obama serve this country as president, he has been through alot and his policies and values appeal to me. I like his wife, his children are very nice and he seems to be a very sincere man. McCain just doesn’t appeal to me at all. sorry
Stop spreading racism and go vote! White or Black, doesn’t matter, we all are gonna pick up the slack! Government can only do so much, the rest is up to us!
after this election is over, y’all know what time it is?
…………………………………………………………………
oh it’s…………………………..
Peanut butter jelly time! Peanut butta jelly, peanut buttta jelly! peanut butta jelly wit a baseball bat.
LOL LOL
Oh and one more thing….Who cares how long this campaign has taken. It sure hasn’t been as long as the excruciating EIGHT years we’ve had with our current president!!! Longest eight years ever! Glad it’s almost over. WHEW!!
Bring the change!
Yes!! I won’t even listen to the radio at work!! My mind is made up anyway for McCain.
Whoever wins this election we should offer them our prayers and support.
Yes, I too am sick of this election. I also wish the candiates would grow up and stop acting like a bunch of 2 year olds.
i can sympathize with all those who feel they’ve had a bit too much of the election coverage – AND I am in India and sick of it! we’ve been getting daily updates about all the mud-slinging, baby-kissing, etc. etc. for ages now [they were very much pro-Hilary then], whether it’s the print or the electronic media. our own elections won’t be covered for that long a period ! will i be glad when it’s all over! think of what you people must be having to tolerate ….
I’m sick of it, and I’m not even from the US. Every day the news is full of coverage of an election we’re not even taking part in.
The difference is in the coverage.
When Dean chose to form a committee, it was covered a day and forgotten until the primaries neared.
The media has (and we as a people have as well) so been looking forward to moving past the Bush presidency that we started hyping up who would be replacing him as early as January last year when people began to throw their hat in the ring. Since then, it’s been nonstop coverage.
It may not be the longest period of time, but it’s the most extensive media coverage for the past year and a half.
Mate I live in another country and i am sick of hearing about the election. Wish u guys would hurry up and vote for a new president already.
i got to say i honestly don’t find it sick at all…it’s kinda exciting actually….i mean for a person who has interest in politics……….seriously,,,i personally feel that it actually allows us more ample time to make our choice.the best choice i mean,,..seeing them lashing out at each other at those presidential and vice-presidential debate actually enables us to make the right decision in choosing the best candidate for our america… just can’t wait for november 4th…really anxious to hear the results!!!my vote is OBAMA!!!!!…..
Perhaps you would rather we did not have elections and democracy. We could just have a socialist, communist, monarchy, or dictatorship form of government. Then no one would have to campaign because there wouldn’t be any necessity to vote. Each new ruler then would just kill the old ruler and rule until someone killed him (or her). Or, in the case of insane rulers, they’d just pass the leadership down to their insane offspring. Would you like that better?
i know this is a important election, but i’m tired of it too, i want it to be over with
Wednesday can’t get here fast enough. Just think in 2 years it will start all over. Congress should pass a law
6 months before an election. Congress ???? hey wait
a minute, they are politics also…………..Gloom.
I am not sick of watching History happen! It’s an election. Of course we might get tired of the same stuff over and over, but it’s exciting. Do you realize both sides are making history? This could be the first Black president or the first Female VP (even President)! Politics are for grown ups, and it seems to me that most people aren’t grown up enough to handle politics maturely. Right now it’s like we’re at the point in a long line for a roller coaster where the adults are eager to get on, and the children are whining because they can’t quite see the coaster yet and are tired of waiting. I understand that is has been a long time, but do you understand what this election really means?
Yes…….very tired of hearing people on both sides at this point. It seems as though most of everyone has completely forgotten that we are on the same side here…….ultimately. I’m mostly sick of watching Americans attack Americans, as if either side is without fault.
I think its sad how bot sides attack the other candidate, and sometimes in a very damning way……never realizing that their attacks are also towards millions of supporters, who they wish to govern some day. So, you hate me, but think you should be my president? Is that what I am hearing? Elections need to change. They are entirely geared towards drone type thinkers, and hve very little substance.
I’m Scared more than sick.
I THINK THIS IS A TURNING POINT FOR THE USA AND THE WORLD.
1. The One way is hopeful and hard. So much lost So much to repair.
2. The Other is towards the loss of America as what it was. losing more and m ore of the constitution and freedoms for An AGGRESSIVE Military and 1 Religion in control of a forever bankrupt 2 class society.
Excess for some few and the Armageddon the far rights been preaching heavy.
I believe this is a choice between a philosophy of
WORLD LEADERs vs.
WORLD DOMINATION
And,so ,we cant get too much information,
and we cant sit back complacent and be led.
Stop whining? The president is a very important job and they need to campaign for a while. This is one of the most important presidential races in history and you’re complaining? Oh and i pitty you poor poor people who get spam letters/phone calls, get over it.
I agree it has been dragging on for forever
BUT it’s also such an important election that it almost seems necessary
This campaign started over a year ago. Since the Iraq war was actually seeing some success, the press didn’t have anything else to report on. We really need a grassroots effort at campaign reform:
1- Limit campaign season to 75 days before the election day
2- NO press coverage of polls 15 days prior to election day. They’ve been shown over and over again to a: be inaccurate, and b: influence voting trends. Neither of which is good in a democracy.
3- Federal Law to mandate that US military members may vote early, AND that states cannot delay mailing of absentee ballots (as is happening in MA). This ensures they get the same importance as votes in the US. Less than 30% of absentee ballots are ever counted.
Yup – I’ve had enough. I’ll tell you how to stop the phone calls though. Tell them you’re going to vote for the candidate who bothers you on the phone the LEAST. I’ve done it – it works!
It has been an especially long campaign, specifically for the Lightworker. He’s been campaigning since the 2004 Democratic Convention.
Sometimes the campaign was boring. Always the same questions and answers in YA. But that was because there are always new people.
What gets me now that it is down to just McCain and Obama, especially as we approach the final hours, all the mudslinging and slander, all of from Republicans or at least Republican supporters, trying to undermine Obama and the Democrats any way they can.
A quick search at http://www.snopes.com or any other reliable news agency will wash away all the mud and let the facts shine through.
A campaign should be run on the issues, not on allegations.
I am pretty sick of it too. I think it also becuase of them putting out mostly negative attack adds. It is not only that but where I live I have 11 state measures that I know of and one local measure! So those are also getting equal airtime on tv. GRRR I can’t wait until this is over!
Exhausted. Bored to tears by the complete lack of political differentiation between the parties. Amazed by the focus on things that don’t matter. Confounded by the ignorance and polarity of the general populous. Saddened by the choice of consumption for citizenry. Frightened by the choices the future holds because of all of this. (Where’s my Habeas? What about impeachment? What happened to my civil liberties? Why global capitalism instead of the Democratic Republic? Why profit in medicine? What’s wrong with a little socialism, we had it in the the post WWII era and it worked!) Yeah, I’m tired. Exhausted. Spin. Spin. Spin. And they haven’t said anything that promises any change when you learn to read the platform or read between the rhetoric. Wake me up when it’s over. Nurse!
bla bla bla. insert generic political statement.
We need a change Obama has the formular. Thanks be to God I have voted for the right man.
Do you have any idea of how many children, retired folks, geriatric people, homeless, could have been fed, clothed, received prescription medicines, and saved lives, with the money that was spent on electing one person who is already a hibitual LIAR
Okay, first off, I don’t agree with whoever said that this blog is coming off as whining too much. I absolutely agree, This election has been draging on forever. I’m not saying its not important, it is, but you know the back an forth stuff like “the don’t for him because he’ll raise your taxes” or “Obama’s a muslim” and stuff like that does get annoying. By now, everyone should know who they’re voting for, now its just time to see whose going to win.
This is election is way too long. I do not live in America, but I just see this long campaign as both pointless and a massive amount of money. Consider how much money is spent on this campaign, which is massive when you consider how many problems there are in the world that could be helped by this money. Why can’t these politicians just hold an election without having to tour the entire country? Does anybody have a figure spent by the either Obama or McCain for this campaign? That would be most useful! There is no need for so much campaining!
All I gotta say is that is you people were sick of all these debates, ads, etc..You Wouldn’t even know who to vote for. That explains why it takes a long time so you could chose wisely.
Exactly! Im so sick of the election! it seems as if its been going on for years! why cant it just be over?
candidates shouldnt be allowed to campaign so freakin long or use so much money just to buy the American peoples and other politicians votes. its disgusting.
What is sad about this is that over one trillion dollars have been wasted on this crap and the accomplishments are zero. Let us have a nationwide primary in May of the election year let the people pick the canidates. This election year proves that the parties sure can’t. Forget the conventions another waste of money but great for the prostitutes and the booze, then campaign from May until November have the election and be done with it.
It seems like they’ve been blabbing about the election since last fall – and I’m sick and tired of it like everyone else. It’ll be nice when it’s over, but there will probably be at least another couple days after the election where they constantly blab about the winner. I’m at the point where I don’t care who wins the thing – just that it’s over soon.
All campaigns seem long to me although when I actually count the months between the party conventions (in the late summer) until voting day, it’s only a matter of weeks. To be honest, this presidential campaign has been more interesting to me then any since Robert Kennedy’s. This is the first time since RFK that I actually feel I’m specifically FOR someone rather than just resignedly choosing between the lesser of the available evils. It’s the first time in so long where I feel energized and want to talk about issues and all that stuff. I am elated and motivated. It feels long but at least it’s distracting (I would NOT rather be watching “reality” tv shows) and I haven’t laughed so much with regard to politics for a long time.
I am very sick of it. To hear people talk here on Y!A, you’d think it was Hitler running against Lenin.
This has been the longest most boring election in History in my book. I was ready for it to be over a year ago. It is also one of the ugliest elections in history. Both canidates quit throwing mud a long time ago and started throwing Something even more gross.
And the state and local elections are even worse. I am almost ready to become a hermit and run far far away form the political machines.LOL
The worse thing is the knowledge no matter WHO wins on Tuesday that it will not be over with all the challenges that will come. We will be lucky to have a certain result by Inauguration day.
by the way If you promise to not tell me who you are voting for I promise to return the favor. That way nobody gets upset.LOL
Election? What election?
Mike UK
lol, someone just called and i couldnt really understand them but i heard barack obama prop 8 vote and i totally thought it was a recorded machine so i was like blah blah blah, cuz im 15 and i cant vote anyway, and i dont need people to tell me how to vote anyhow. ya well that was embarassing
I am so tired of the elections. I know who I am voting for and am not going to be changing my mind. I do not care who anyone is voting for; that is their business. I just hope whom ever wins is a good fit.
McCain/Palin 08
If you guys are sick to death of it, try living outside of the U.S and still having to hear about it!! Now thats just cruel!
Amen, caucasian girl….agree with u totally…..

VOTE OBAMA!
can’t seem to get the concept of sacrafice.
dear god ain’t it the truth
i know this has been a long election. and its been an even longer week when people kept got excited “Its only one more week!” this has been the longest 4 days and the next two will probably be even longer. i cannot wait for someone to FINALLY get elected.
im plum sick of everything…i think we’ve heard everythang we gone and need to hear about this business. im ready to get the show on the road. the cant tell me nothing that would change my mind thats y i already voted
Yeah I hear ya .. I mean all of ya. I cant take anymore of this myself. I’ve decided to watch all my shows online.
I totally agree. I’m sick of it.
I wonder what all the reporters will have to say after the big day?
Oh, so you’re saying Obama should take the money that he legitimately raised to pay for his campaign to feed the poor, but the top 5% of the people who have more money that all the other 95% put together should be given tax breaks? I thought that’s what this argument was mainly about: wealthy people not wanting to share their wealth.
Not feeling tired, but the way these campaigns have been conducted there is anxiety over the outcome. The populace is so polarized and almost evenly split. The anxiety may be caused by the sense that a vote is against the opponent, not as much of a vote for your preferred candidate. Elections should be positive, should be for something, not against something. Obama seems more of an experiment and appears he will be elected. Change is sure to occur because of the single party majority and power over exec ofc and congress. So now we wait with a bit of anxiety to see how change affects us all. The media will be going nuts over any outcome. Half of the electorate will be upset forever. It all seems kind of silly since we Americans are really not so different from one another, more in common! Vote McCain, then you will have a right to complain!
I thought I just posted a comment but I don’t see it. So, I’ll repeat it.
Professor Jim: Are you saying that Senator Obama should take the money that he legitimately raised to promote his campaign and share it with the poor? At this same time are you saying that the top 5% of the people who make more money than the other 95% put together should get tax breaks?
Please correct me if I am misunderstanding you. Also, could you refresh my memory because I do not recall a single lie he told. I was beginning to think he was not politician material. But, then he must have lied somewhere because one of the prerequisites for political office is you have to be a good liar.
DUH- you have 3 more days. Butch up- it is almost over.
I’m not sick of the campaign, but I agree with those who are sick of this administration. I started out liking Biden the most in the field of Democrats. Palin is keeping us entertained. I’m sick of people taking bounties on wolf paws but that isn’t the election – it’s only a facet of her character. I actually think the public is being tested by this one. H.L. Mencken wrote that: no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the public. This time I have a feeling the public is ready to elect a representative government, but the question is whether Diebold and other forces will let it come to pass.
Never a dull moment I say. And the fat lady hasn’t even begun gargling!
I am very tired of it. I voted absentee last week. Lots of other people have voted early. I can’t wait for Wedensday so that this will be over. Knowing Dino Rossi, though, he will probably sue again if he loses, or if the race is a close one like it was last time. I don’t think it’s going to be over on election day, unfortunately.
I am so over it! People can’t even discuss their opinions without people from the opposite getting mad! It’s ridiculous! Only a few more days til people can drop it and start complaining about who was chosen!!!
If Obama wins, I’m moving to Canada.
This election has gone way overboard. I have not heard either one mention the lower class people and what they are going to do for them. I think the lower class people need more help then the middle class does right now, and I want to know when they are going to bring all of our troops home. If Busch would have bombed Iran after 9/11 then we would not have lost alot of our loved ones to this senseless power war that we are in. It does’nt matter which one wins the presidency we are not going to be in any better shape, we are going to continue to go farther into a recession
I completely agree w/ Professor Jim
By Bread ~ Well Mike can Rant because this is his show ~ if he doesn’t want us to rant then that is his business
As for me and what I think ~ Well, I really think the country will be in for a very bad surprise if it goes the way most want it to go
Sometimes when tragedy happens it really isn’t wise to choose by whom looks good or doesn’t, whom is the oldest and youngest, who is black and who is white, who is man or who is women but look for the person who has experienced war so they can get our troops/their families home safely as possible. Who is the most honest and who is the best person
As far as being sick of the deal ~ most people made up their mind at first instinct so I believe they could have the election wrapped up in a shorter time and less money
People are quick to judge and not so quick to change their mind.
Yes. I’m really tired of the election foolishness and want my old programming back. Just pick someone already, geez!
I agree, political campains are so long and so ful of B.S, wish there was a better way!
I know what you mean man.. I mean.. seriously..
Oh and at my school there was this whole debate going on in our homeroom and we were sitting there (we can talk and eat and do whatever so yeah most people were talking) and then the teacher said something about the stats on who was winning for president and this guy said obama and this other dude said mccain and then like they were going on and on about who should win and who should lose and then like twenty minnutes later they ended up in the principals office because they hitted (hit) eachother because of that.. it is annoying and on top of that that is like almost the ONLY thing people can talk about latly.. seriously.. peoples.. annoying..ness
If anyone’s tired in this game it can only be the two candidates – they must be absolutely exhausted.
Just think yourself lucky being American and not a Brit like me. We don’t have the exciting build-up before an election, but then take a look at Gordon Brown and you can see why.
May the best man win (Obama), and let’s hope he has the strength to clean up the mess Bush & Blair made.
I JUST HOPE YOU ALL VOTE….
I don’t even live in America and I’m sick and tired of hearing about your election.
Eh, it’s not as long as 2004 or 2000. The Democratic primaries were competitive through June, and the general campaign didn’t get started until July. I think it’s all pretty interesting.
Usually we don’t hear about who’s running for office untill after the conventions. The media decided to run the caucuses and the conventions this time around, which I think is what over-did it.
I don’t know, I think one just has to get used to it, that America is in continuous election cycles. It’s just the way the nation always has been. We’re constantly replacing and re-electing our leaders. Quite frankly, I think there should only be presidential elections every 6 years and Presidents should only be allowed just one term so they can just focus on work once elected instead of having to try for re-election.
As an Independant…it’s amazing that for the past 8 years we have had:
1. Crash of the Stock Market, with our Financial System refecting lows not seen since the great Depression
2. Our Political Standing in the World of Nations erode to a Nation that goes it alone, to one that promotes Torture and operates “In the Shadows” as Dick Cheney once put it…with fighting WARS on multiple front…bleeding precious AMERICAN Blood both Blue and Red
3. The largest Goverment we have seen in the Last 50 years
4. A Goverment that has slowly chipped away at American Civil Liberties in the name of “The War on Terroism”. While simultaneously colluding power to the Executive Branch and using Attorney Generals to strip Americans of their precious Civil Rights
5. An Administration and REPUBLICAN Party that inherited a budget surplus and 8 years later leave 2 generations of National Debt
6. A Goverment Policy that promotes the Study of CREATIONISM…that cast Science as some sort of sham for eluding to the fact that the Earth is more than 4000 yrs old and where “No Child Gets Left Behind”…why take logic into consideration and continue to allow the Neocons and “conservatives” to push the agenda for our Country
7. That Wall Street is more important than Main Street were the cost of a Galloon of Gas is more than a Galloon of Milk…where the Exxon Mobils of the World once again post Record Breaking Profits and American 401ks are at Record lows and Home FORCLOSURES and Unemployment are reaching all time highs
8. And one of the glorious high lights of this Administrations Rule ” A little Hurricaine called Katrina” that wiped out a large portion of the Gulf Coast, leaving our response to that of 3rd World Country with dead bodies piling up to make a monumental “Super Dome” alter of disgrace!
Yes let’s continue the national discussion about Governor Palin’s cloths, Obama’s 5th aunt twice removed, John McCains brother Joe calling 911 in a traffic jam, Joe Biddens gafts on Eisenhower and my personal favorite Joe the Plumber!
Yea I am totally sick of the ads and I voted the first week of October, so I am well past sick…. It’s unbelievable that any of these people are running for office with such childish behavior. I say give them all a time out! How about just stick to telling all of us what you are going to do when you are in office and I mean give us the fine details, not just ideals or sidespeak. Then if anyone says anything negative, ignore them and just keep on telling us what you are going to do for us. I think this is why the truly great potential politicians avoid running for office because it’s become a circus act that isn’t really about doing something great for our country but doing all for themselves. And I also agree with the amount of money being spent on these ads, are you serious??? Is that how they plan on spending the taxpayers money when in office, on useless waste?
this has indeed been a very long campaign and 2004 was as bad. but i agree, i dont think anyone was as fed up then as now. there has been too much negativity because Barrack happens to be black. when will this country be more tolerant and stop throwing stones because someone can do well and happens to be different than the status quo?
This election has been a growth experience for me. I am of the post-watergate generation.
I often was concerned that I never had the ‘long’ campaigns which seemed to come before the modern television age and certainly before the internet age.
The candidate selection had been nicely wrapped up ahead of time–with a clear winner. But not this year in the Democratic Party. Having this bitter nominating contest was disappointing in a personal respect, having been for Clinton.
But it gave me the opportunity to have that historical experience of seeing what real intra-party contests were like. I must understand I and others cannot have it both ways. When there is a nominating contest, somebody is bound to feel left out after all the work which they put into the campaign.
And that feeling of work, I believe is what helped to reinvigorate the poll numbers. People feel like participation matters this year. Call it the reverse of Florida 2000!
ya im sick of it
I am overly sick of the campaign. Why couldn’t we just vote after the last debate took place. I doubt that many opinions have swayed since then. And all this finger pointing and negativity amongst the candidates is working my nerves, lol!!
your right, even though im rooting for obama, he is ruining my t.v shows with his speeches and stuff. i want things to be normal, i cant wait until this is over !
Sorry guys, the election racket started Jan 21, 2004! They were already asking, who is going to be running in 2008 and it’s been non-stop since. This must be stopped on Nov 5, 2008 and the media must focus on bringing the country back to prosperity and by demanding the sacrifice all Americans to make the world a livable environment for centuries to come.
Im not American. But still i wake up every morning and switch my TV on just to watch CNN.I never get enough of it,i guess…lol.I have been keenly following this years election like a hound. And the worst or maybe the craziest part is dat i have a huge exam(my CAT exam)on the 16th.And i cant switch off my TV becoz of the election.Im like addicted.Every morning there seems to be a twist and someone said something out of context etc etc.Im now gettin scared for my exams bcoz instead of sittin and preparin for it,i keep watchin tv to get a whole dose of ac360,larry king live etc.And my mom keeps askin me,”why do you watch it?who ever is goin to become the POTUS is never gonna help you get admission into IIM’s.Better sit and study.”
But i never listen.Im quiet fascinated abt this election.I cant wait to c who becoms POTUS.Im counting down d number of days.and dat is 2 more days.
Such suspense right. It feels like when you are readin a thriller or watchin some movie and u cant wait to know how it ends.
Now,i know almost all of us feel d same way…lol.
I’d like a shorter campaign period, maybe 30-45 days. 2 years is overkill. Way too much money being spent on campaigns. The money could go to such better use.
I LOVE GETTING TO KNOW CANIDATES. BUT EVERYONE HAS FAULTS. RARELY HAVE WE HAD A PRESIDENT THAT WAS PERFECT. I ASKED A 6 YEAR OLD WHO SHOULD BE PRESIDENT AND HE REPLIED GOD HE IS THE BEST KING THERE EVER WAS
I certainly agree with you and everyone else. It is going to be nice when it’s all over. Some candidates are even calling and that’s also annoying. I know everyone is counting down to the end, I am also.
How can you be tired of this campaign, this effects everyone. You must not be old enough to understand either that or you must be rooting for John McCain because you clearly are well off if you don’t care. The economy is in the toilet, thousands have lost their jobs, and the war in Iraq is devistating. You should be more considerate about people around you.
If you think this has been a long campaign, you are in for a R-E-A-L treat. The campaing for nominations for President in 2012 are going to begin in the wee small hours of November 5, 2008.
I just wish there was a way to shorten the process. I am all for the basic process. I just think that we are taking far too long in the decison making end of it.
Well wonder why there are so many early voters?
I agree! Im getting so many of these Obama, McCain, and all the local guys flyers in the mail, AND their phone calls…
I’m sick of it too. However, I am voting, but not for President, that one is going to be left blank, I don’t think the 2 that are running for President will help htis country at all, I will vote for county and state questions, and I will not vote for any incumbents.
Wow! It is roughly about 100 hours or more until all will get a break from the election propaganda; hang in all.
I’m a European and I think “sick” doesn’t quite meet the point. “Fed up and tired” of all those discussions would be a better way to put it. They were led on an international scale and filled the newspapers, blogs, and everything that can be called “media” worldwide. Hell, why do Europeans discuss an American campaign? Sure, American foreign policy concerns us all; but we have no right to vote. It’s an American thing. YOU decide. Instead of discussing the campaign, I think Europeans would have been better off in putting their faith into the American PEOPLE who, as I believe, are still aware that it shouldn’t be the president who makes the laws for the people, but the people who make the laws for the president. Something here (and I’m not just talking about the US, but about Europe too) has run out of control, and just electing another man will not help solve the problem. I agree with the ACLU and corresponding groups in Europe, that it is OUR task to have a close watch on the government and take care that our civil rights are being upheld by those we elected.
i know its just so cool though because barrak is a great dude and i like hearing him speak but it has been beeoch
this is the worst ever. its been overdone and we have no good options to vote for. this is going to be one sad election and cant wait until its all over
I agree with Mike on the basis that this election is far too long. I also don’t think it helps that all the media does is run it into the ground. I can hardly watch the news anymore because I’m just so sick of all the election drama. The media makes me mad because of the way they portray the election. It’s almost like a Jr. High girl drama circle, if you catch my drift. I just want all this to be over and then we can figure out how to fix the country again in another 4 years.
I live in New Zealand and it has exhausted me even over here so can only imagine what it must be like in the States
I’m sick of it and I live in the UK! I know you guys make a difference to what goes on over here, but we’ve had more tv coverage of your election than we get of our own.
im living in the small village i need the work in america im the wood man is i can find the work in america in the montange
i’m with the first comment.
Yeah, I agree with HaleiwaGirl. I’m not especially sick of the campaign. I think we’re all unsure what America needs at this point; too much is going on all at once. We all need to do a better research and figure out if raising taxes or lowering taxes is the better way out of this situation.
I personally think – raising them, I think that’ll help out the economy myself. I think McCain and Palin are crazy to claim that raising taxes kills people’s dreams, that’s total bs. No one’s trying to raise them to the extent that’d make small businesses incapable of flourishing.
I’m enjoying the campaigns, but not the phone calls I get with people telling me who to vote for or asking who I voted for. Feel like telling ‘em all to go to hell…
Just 2 days to go and the truth will be known because the people of America will end all the unpleasant remarks and communications associated with the 2008 US President Election. And we can thank God for that.
The only conclusion I will come to about this election. It is horrible- I dont like neither person running and they DO not care about America. Its been a game since day one. First starting with the democrats- Hillary and Obama, now Obama and McCain. I think Obama has been treating this like he was a celebrity, which is why Hollywood is always harassing us to vote for him. Dont get me started about Palin…and her 140k wardrobe…
Actually the all the candidate crap was going on before 2007. I’m a junior in high school now, and I was hearing about Obama and Clinton at the beginning of my freshmen year. So this has been going on for 2 and a half years now. I’ve was fed up with it when I heard people going on about how “its time for a black president” or “its time for a female president”. none of that crap should matter.
in canada the election by law can not take more than like 3 months. We should be more like the Canadians
You know, I can’t help but feel, and have felt for a long time, that there needs to be a law (I know, I know…we have too darn many already), but a LAW that says presidential candidates can’t start campaigning until six months before the election at the earliest. I also think they should refrain from mudslinging. If you can’t get your message acoss without cutting down your opponent, then maybe you don’t have a message, or your message sucks!
I believe this election has been going on every since 2004 after Kerry lost. I specifically remember hearing people say “It’s almost like Hillary paid Kerry off to lose so she could have 2008″
I remember seeing a US News article in 2006 talking about the 2008 election saying “…after all – it’s only 24 months away” and I remember thinking how rediculous it was.
I don’t think it would be so bad if they would quit bashing each other. Tell us What THEY are going to do and not what the other is not go to do.
I voted by absante about 2 weeks ago in the florida.
Did you know that there are in total about 13-14 people running. How come it is only the DEM and REP getting all the press. I think we need to get another party member in. These two haven’t done CRAP in the last 200 year. There has got to be something better.
I am defiantly sick and tired of it!!!
ok, ok…I know all of you say you are sick and tired of the long, drawn out campaining and speeches. But you have to know that this election is one of Monumental History, no matter who wins. If obama wins, it will be historic because he will become the first Black President Of the United States, and if McCain wins, his vice president will become the first woman vice president of the United States. So c’mon guys you know Every Presidential Election is ALWAYS long and drawn out. It will all be over in 2 more days.
Every Presidential election year I am so burned out by the name-calling, finger-pointing and blah, blah, blah that I can’t wait for the election to be over. My family and I even make a point to NOT watch the regular channels ’cause we can’t stand the campaign commercials. Just irritating!
GET OVER IT! STOP BIENG SUCH A BABY! WERE CHOOSING A LEADER NOT AN IPOD FOR GODS SAKE PEOPLE LIKE YOU JUST PISS ME OFF!
If I hear ‘ I approved this message’ one more time I am gonna SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I approved this message.
Aggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!
I am getting a lil’ sick of it now that you mention it. I hear my parents talking about it all the time and same with my classmates–they aren’t even old enough to vote!! ><

Ok. This comment right here (above) is exactly why I’m sick of this election. People are getting so bent out of shape and ‘attacking’ people for stating their views on this election. If this election has done anything for the country it has TORN this country in 2. I’m sick of it! I’m sick of people attacking eachother for their beliefs or their comments. It makes me sick! Who the hell are you to tell someone to get off their ass and vote. That’s not what the question was about. It was about being sick of the election and how long and drawn out it was. Instead of being such an bitch about how ‘important this election is’ and talking down to the people who are sick of it (cuz I’m SOOO SICK OF THIS election!!), why don’t you get off your high horse and just answer the question without going off on him for stating his feelings.
Why this election is Historic to some pinheads? Is it because it is lazy fun to watch the contestants sending Wolf tickets to each other? All talikg the same things over & over again? They have time for everything & money in millions to waste on campaigns. How can one justify their Pretending as if they had no time to talk about anything except ECONOMY? People must REFUSE to be Fooled by the biased media-hype & the tall promises of the contestants!
My goodness, THANK YOU. This race is getting extremely annoying. The flyers, the constant knocking on my door from people trying to get the vote, and then all the freaking political ads.
Everything in the ads said about the opposing candidate is never true.
The signs don’t do anything. They’re a waste of money.
It’s like, “Oh, there’s a ‘VOTE FOR OBAMA’ sign? That settles it, I’m voting for Obama.”
No.
But in my opinion, I really don’t think there’s anyone out there who is good enough for that job anymore.
campaigning for president of the US must be the toughest job in the world. In two years time they start all over again for re election
i hope the complainers are taping their thoughts and listen to them after six months with the new president.maybe they will stop complaining and try to do something to make the USA better
Boo hoo. We have suffered eight years of corporate tyranny. It takes waking people up. It is a democracy and requires clapping the hands before the gods of the many.
I saw a guest on a talk show recently who was British. He said that fortunately in Britain they do NOT have paid political broadcast ads. I wish we didn’t allow them either – that’s where it gets nasty, that’s where our entertainment in our own homes is invaded and I do squirm when I have to sit through one. (particularly a negative one).
I am tired of people saying black people are voting for Obama because he is black. All 43 previous Presidents were not only white but male and we voted for them to and it was usually the lesser of two evils because most did nothing for the human and civil rights of minorities and little for equality for women. When you voted for the white male, were you called sexist?
I’m just mentally exhausted by this campaign…
I’m tired of the election but I’m very happy a Black man is running and he knows alot and he would be a very good president and i hope that lazy McCain does not win. If he were to win he would do the same old thing Bush has done.
And we would ruin America and would run out of money in America and we would not be able to buy or sale or get a Job or have great things for our Children i believe that Obama would lead us out of this slump and help us rise to a better economy i hope u people do not like McCain if u do i hope u will think again and vote fore OBAMA WE LOVE HIM AND WE WANT HIM TO WIN I LOVE U SO MUCH OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ummm: Noticed my post is not here tonight. Could it be because I mentioned God in it?
well Mr Obama has no clue how to fix the mess we are in neither does the McCain/Palin camp. so I would say we are in a bit of a pickle. neither one of them are worried about the current state of our country , they just want to be called the president.
Obama wants to be the first black president and McCain wants to get in there before he dies with neither of having a clue.
‘This is the most important election in history’? Absurd when you consider Lincoln election in 1862 or Roosevelt in 1932. It’s a bit like people claiming that this is the most divisive time in American politics while conviently ignoring the Civil War which killed almost 600,000 Americans. I think people get these opinions from the poorly educated talking heads on television news shows and simply repeat their simplistic anaylsis of current events.
This is one of the most important campaigns and should be interesting to watch. It does take control and patience not to become overly opinionated or judgemental on either candidate. This political soap opera has been running since early 2007 and now has reached the superbowl. Be proud of your country, we need support of the possible presidential candidates and not get sidetracked from the bashing. Actually, this has been the least bashing I’ve seen in an election. Obama has tried his best to stay out “the fight” and win “the debate”, but I believe he has done a great job. McCain has gave his all as well and displayed his honor and prestige. As a veteran, he should of knocked Obama out the box, but I guess all republican were washed up after Bush’s raft in office. Good luck to everyone and God Bless America! Vote and love your country!
Most of you who complain doesnt even have a good reason to be complaining, just don’t watch what’s going on, I have not had people knock at my door, and don’t you people tired of a president who is in power right now, and every word from his mouth is a lie… the reason most of you are sick of this is because Obama is black bottom line…
I am really tired of the election too but do you really think it will be over when the election is over? All that means is the campaigning is over and then begins 4 years of constant bashing on one side, of whoever wins the election. In addition I am slightly concerned about things I have heard people say they’ll do if their candidate loses (BOTH SIDES).
The truth of the matter is this will never be “over”.
“I can finally enjoy a few weeks of peace and quiet before the race for 2012 begins.”
Ha ha ha!
How can you say that? Tuesday will be one of the most important days of our lives! And I am not even American! This event will go down in history and yes the world is in a bad state and nobody will make it better by waving a magic wand but anyone can do a better job than Bush at fixing this mess! (By anyone I am mostly mean Obama- VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN!)
My phone has ring off the wall with John McCain people asking us to vote for him. I think that if your on the DO NOT CALL LIST, They shouldn’t be able to call at all. And how do they get your numbers, I’ll be glad when it over……
A lot of black people and white people are voting for Obama because he’s black. I have friends I thought were progressive and were very against the wars and they straight out told me a black president was progress for them.
Obama has lied too much for it to be worth anything to me though. He’s backed by some serious lobbyist firepower and imperialist endorsements. His voting recod is horrible (when he did vote) in regards to civil rights and low income, regular person rights.
I’m not going to rant and rant on him right now. My point is he’s clearly a fraud and not some grass roots little guy politican. He’s fueled and allied with the very things he rants on about.
McCain is pretty bad too.
I think that’s why this feels so long. People are passionate. You have people trying to tell the evils of Obama and McCain. You had all the alternative options like Nader, Baldwin, McKinney, Barr desparately fighting against the media blackout. You had Ron Paul.
The democrats and republicans are really trying to screw America, and I guess there’s nothing you can do against big money, a good liar and a nice smile.
It’s odd, to me, our country is in a recession, our government is bailing out banks – and yet these two campaigns have raised millions and millions of dollars. That money could be better spent paying off the national debt, or supporting so many of the “causes” our government sees fit to create and support.
Government is too big, has been for too many years. It’s just a beast with a voracious appetite.
All of you are boring and lazy individuals. I am positive you believe everything you read.Better yet what’s told to you. Similar to the book 1984. It’s really pathetic. But when things start hitting your wallet then you want to complain. Grow up.
I agree, Mike. I’m sick of this campaign, too. I wish I could vote in just one presidential election where my choice isn’t based on “which one of these options is the least bad of all the possible options?” Or “which candidate do I distrust the least?” Just one time…please?
And God said let there be light, and he saw that it was good. Then he said let the Mccain, Obama Presidential Campaign begin. After the first four and a half billion years he got bored and got up to make himself a sandwich and never came back but unfortuantly he forgot to turn off all our television sets. That’s how long this race has been going on. I’m not a religious guy but lately I have found myself praying. God please let this thing end. I hope that I was able to answer your question. Bob
it has all been one roller coaster ride..
my emotions , have change for the better
I am not either , [party] dem . or rep.
my party selection is the Natural Law Party…
I feel that way, as my choice.
I think that if you want to take off for a year and a half from work, that you shouldn’t be paid during that time. Why should Obla-bla get his senate salary when he hasn’t worked for over a year and a half. Vote McCain, NoBla-Bla!!!!!!!
Since the early voting has been so popular and a vast majority of the voters have voted why are we seeing an increase of signs and ads on tv? To me thats a waste of time and money that could be donated to a charity.
I just really hope the “better man wins”
Well, get used to it. You know why? Because of the magnitude of this election, that very same magnitude will manifest itself in the losing party of this election. Whether Obama or McCain loses, you will see a tremendous backlash. Before the next President is sworn in, you will find that the pundits will explode this thing into FOUR MORE YEARS of running for President.
Congress should pass a good law, No Campaigns should be longer than 6 months before the actual election. They can cover the country in that time and the commercials can be limited to one a day.
No whole channels dedicated to one candidate, no 3 debates.. 1 is plenty.. if they can’t get their point across by then its all rhetoric anyways.
We know our party’s platforms.
Vote pro-life otherwise there will be no future for our country!!!
“I am tired of people saying black people are voting for Obama because he is black.”
I’m white and I have to agree. I think that most black people are voting for the political party, not for the race. If the Republican nominee was black, and the Democrat nominee was white, most blacks would still vote for the Democrat candidate.
Nov 5 will be a personal holiday for me from now on! This is when we should say, “In God (or whoever you believe in) we trust!”
The way I see it is REAGAN gave us LIFE;he ended the cold war, CLINTON gave us the Liberty to pursue interns, and OBAMA will ,in the Pursuit of Happiness, go “chasing rainbows in the sky. cela
so, i found this paragraph on a blog that i love to read, and i agree wholeheartedly with it.
“i just hate the whole 2 dimensional novelty of this election. every anti-palin twitter post and obama t-shirt i see just makes me wonder if people really feel that way or are just buying into the lifestyle of it.”
oh because he’s black, young, etc., people are voting for him, what about his beliefs? his values? his nationality nor his age isn’t going to fix this nation.
vote McCain/Palin.
If Obama wins, I’m moving to Canada.

i’ll join you.
there is TOO MUCH to say. im a little annoyed but only because of all the stupid people who dont seem to really listen to each canidate. i also belive that people are voting white and black on this one. my brother was at work, and a black woman asked him who he was voting for- he said he didnt know. when he asked who she was voting for, she said “OBAMA!!” he asked her why and she simply said “well, cause hes OBAMA!”
i think that is ridiculous. when i see a black person that wants mccain to win then i will have more faith in this country….
I like lots of others are tired of all of this. The really sad thing is it’s far from over, if Obama wins the Democrats have already hired over 3000 lawyers all over the nation to protest the election. They really think that the Republicans stole the 2000 election from them and will do anything no matter how underhanded to win this time. So it could be several months before we wctually know who won on Tuesday.
A LOT OF COMMENTS ON THIS SUBJECT:)
Right on,Mike! We are all tired of hearing the same yada yada from BOTH politicians, and we know that NEITHER one knows how to tell the truth. They spout what they think we want to hear and one dazzles with sparkles and causes women to faint and men to worship, the other is business as usual, so both are full of it. A pox on both. No matter who “wins”, the American people will be the losers, no matter which liar you voted for. Maybe they will put a limit on how long campaigns can run for the next time we have to endure this. As for those who think we learn anything “new” with all of this extended yap time, dream on. We only get to learn more “stuff” that no one seems to be taking to heart anyway (probably to your sorrow later), such as all of Obama’s cronies and his shadowy history, and we are all tired of hearing how the “Maverick” will tear up DC….yeah, right. They are BOTH out for themselves and if you think otherwise, then you really are in OZ.
Yeah, I’m really getting tired of the calls and when you voice your opinion or ask “why do you support that candidate” the other party just hangs up on you. Enough is enough with this, I just pray that whoever gets the office doesn’t screw it all up !!!
ya im sick of it 2 !! u turn on the tv and thats all u see!!!
this election is finnaly coming to an end finaly i have had enough of thoes prope comerchials i cant vote yet but the next electian i can yes but if i where yes on prope to and no on 8 for california
Yeah I can’t wait till the madness ends. I am sick of the people who refuse to hear both sides, and I am sick of people calling me racist because I won’t jump on the Obama bandwagon. (I guess we weren’t supposed to ask about ACORN or talk about how he was a member of Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years before the man became a liability to his campaign).
I didn’t pick my cantidate on race, I based it on experience. Obama didn’t even serve his full term as Senator so I just couldn’t justify voting for him. How that makes me racist I have no idea. I am pretty sure this is America and I am allowed to vote for whomever I want.
I am more than sick of this election. It started four years ago when the last one ended. No thanks to the pundits on these constant blowhard stations, it’s only going to get worse. Remember a decade ago, when there was only one cable news station (cnn)? Remember when the news was a program you watched for a half hour when you ate dinner, then got on with your life? Cable news and their talking heads have twenty-four hours to sensationalize horror stories. They even have a never-ending scroll across the bottom of the screen to pump us full of murder and death stories. Is this the most important election in history? The Great Depression was a worse time for the economy, World War II killed fifty million people, another fifty million died from the influenza of 1918. Today, we have better medicine, better technology, and a better standard of living than we ever have. People are not being herded to their death by the millions in a holocaust, and yet everybody seems to think we are living in these apocalyptic end times. How many people can even name the third party candidates? Anyone know who is running for the senate or the house in their state? What about local or county positions? Most people don’t know these things, but they can turn on the news and hear about who died today. I’m so glad we have a news media with a constitutional responsibility to tell us what’s going on, don’t you?
he talks like he owes the world…
