  1. Saying that this site is one of the best examples of participation on the net is like saying that the “mojave experiment” was a perfect way to showcase vista as being a grand successor to windows xp…

    I don’t think so…

  2. Hey Team!

It is great news to be acknowledged of. I am glad to hear Yahoo! Answers is one of the best, which of course without doubt is of one the best.

These participants we have here do share some incredible tips, whether how to enable the touch tap on a Mac, how to run windows XP on a Mac, how to do this and how to do that, etc. Their knowledge is simply incredible, and here at Yahoo! Answers is one of the best places to increase your own knowledge.

I wish I coiuld give your announcement a thumb up.

All in all, I am pleased to know PC-world considers Yahoo! Answers one of the best!

  3. I have used Yahoo for more than 2 years and it used to be great when I first started using it.
Now it seems to have completely gone downhill and i am not the first to think this. My friends and contacts think the same, and think it’s time it was revamped and brought up to date. I’m not at all impressed lately, especially Yahoo Answers, where a lot of people are getting abused lately. And we are geniune users and getting grief off some users.
Yahoo does’nt think of it’s longer loyal users at all.

  4. Even if it isn’t true, it was a way for PC World to advertise. Another example of ever so subtle product placement…

  5. Tee hee, while I love Y answers and make a point to visit every day, and agree that it is very useful, there is a lot of plain silliness too. Maybe I’m just answering the wrong questions…

  6. Wow its like saying that this site is the best site ever visiting from everyone by everyone and i have to say its not true this site has been causing a great deal of problems with violations for no reasons and account deletions.

So either way its not true and if you say the best then i would also say.

    ‘ I dont think so”

  14. I love Yahoo answer. It is my favorite website. It has helped me solving many problems and learning new things. I want to thank the developers of the site and all the members of Yahoo answer from my heart for their great efforts that made my life and other lives better.

  15. I find yahoo answers to very politically liberal biased and do not value the opinions of free speech (the 1st amendment to the US constitution). Over the past 2 days, five of my legitimate questions and some answers about Senator Barack Obama (relating to his character, voting record, supporters, personal history and background) were all removed. I, being a long standing Yahoo customer, can no longer support this overtly biasness and disrespect of a fellow voter and hard working American. This has not been the first time this has happend to me and close friends. I am hear by dropping yahoo all together and am not going to use yahoo from this day forward. I am pulling all my records and am going to delete all my accounts on yahoo. Furthermore, I am going tell all my friends, family and every stranger I come across not to use yahoo for anything (including for e-mail, a search engine or anything else related) but to go to other search engines and sites. They will tell 10 of their friends and they’ll tell 10 of their friends and they’ll tell 10 of their friends and they’ll tell 10 of their friends and so on. In the meantime you just lost yourself a lot of customers. Yahoo is not the only search engine and web site out there (and in my personal opinion, “ya’ll aren’t a very good search engine anyway”.) Again, you just lost your self lots of customers. And customers mean money. Tell that to your next stockholders meeting.

  16. I try to do my own research before coming to Answers, but sometimes I don’t know enough to use the right keywords so I find nothing, and other times my searches turn up mountains of results that I can’t make sense of. Answers has always been very helpful to me when my own efforts fail.

  17. Why is Yahoo Inc. abusing all it’s users? There is no page options on the homepage, which looks and acts in no way that I like, and I can not change it to anything else. It is not enhanced for my use because there is no possible way you could know what I like and don’t like.

Why is Yahoo Inc. abusing all it’s users with false pretenses about customer care when there is absolutely no way to get a message to such a department or person. It just goes round and round from set questions with a CC button afterwards which just takes you to the set question page again.

  19. Congrats!
I agree with some of the warning posted here. This place is a platform to share the knowledge and help people with similar problems. I try to help local community schools and any institution related to education for some IT issues. This place just provides millions of helpers and almost in every area of our daily life. It must stay clean and sane. It is good to be funny and humourous but people must not be abusive or disrespect other people.

Thank you Yahoo to create a platform like this and congratulations again!

Thank you to the people who ask and answer.

  20. While I agree that Yahoo! Answers is an invaluable source for info, its basically guaranteed that, seeing as its the only site that offers a more human input, as well as being able to be specific with questions. The only other sites I know of are WikiAnswers and Answerbag, both of which suck.

Of course with no competition you’re going to be considered one of the best.

Furthermore, this site, at a time, was fun, stress-free, a good way to kill time, had few bugs, few trolls, and it was just an overall great environment. But now, it’s just horribly declined.

It has an alarming amount of bugs, trolls and their pointless questions have infiltrated and taken over, you can hardly even ask a question or actually speak your opinion without being reported by yet another lifeless troll, the customer care has the worth of a piece of crap, and the environment is just disgusting. Answers has turned into more of a rally for points and attacking users, innocent ones at that, rather than seeking and contributing knowledge.

I swear, Y!A’s gonna be the death of me one day. It’s nothing but an overwhelming amount of stress, due to the flourishing quantity of barbaric, insultive, close-minded, dictative, and just plain heartless users that run rampant here. Unfortunately, it’s all we got really.

  21. Yahoo! Answers deserved it. Yeah, there are abusers here, but what about the Top Contributors? Don’t they get some credit for being useful members of Yahoo! Answers community?

  22. Grats Yahoo Answers
It is true there are alot of spammers and trolls but there is also alot of helpful people on Yahoo Answers.
Just report the spammers and reward the helpful people(with best answers and thumbs up sign)

  23. Whoever said there is no such thing as a stupid question need to look at the Computer & Internet section. Almost all the questions there can be found in under 10 seconds from Google or even Yahoo search. It’s more effort here! Most of the question are pointless and repeats. Some questions are like a phone text message and even those don’t make sense. The rest of it is MySpace/Facebook junk. There is also 2 “Top Contributor” who gives bad advice most of the time. One of them said they will give thumbs down to plain wrong answers when I seen him give about 3 of those.

  24. I just recently discovered Yahoo Ansers and I love it. albeit some of the questions as well as responses are non sense, but I am one of the serious bloggers who genuinely want to help. Everytime I get chosen as best answer you would have thought I had hit the lottery!

No I don’t think YH should be used as a political platform, or as a device to belittle or hurt people.
This should be just plain fun and information sharing with a lot of caring. Keep up the good work YH. I’m Staying!!!

  25. Those of us that care enough to give thoughtful, genuine answers and become top contributors are aware of the trolls and young, arrogant punks that inhabit the site. We recognize them in very short order and also watch them come and go. The simplest way to deal with them is to simply ignore them. Once they find they cannot attract nor monopolize your attention, they go away to greener pastures. I find that using the thumbs serves a very good way to remove them from sight as you work in the site. Using the blocking feature keeps you from wasting your time on their inane and sometimes asinine questions. It also keeps you from dealing with them in the answers area. I applaud Y!A on all their efforts to control a very chaotic and undisciplined site. It is the nature of public forms to be a bit “rough and ready”, but they do a good job in keeping it down to a low rumble.

  29. I truly enjoyed Yahoo Answers up to about a year ago, when I began to notice that the volume of inane answers began to flood the web site. This activity of Helter Skelter greatly reduced my desire to participate.
I can only hope that the reason is because the financial meltdown of the world governments is the fear- based reason for the catastrophic drop of the Web Zipper’s IQ. I still check in everyday, as Yahoo Answers is a splendid idea; in a slump.

  30. As much as I love YA I definitely liked it better when it wasn’t getting all these awards and acknowledgments. The spam is becoming ridiculous. It is now impossible to go into certain sections without finding a link to some pregnancy or dating site, something seriously needs to be done about it, reporting isn’t working, they just come back under a different name.

  31. Speaking of good answers and helpful people, I wonder if Top Contributors in Family & Relations are considered OK instead of those junk ones in Computer & Internet section?

People consider those to require no knowledge but I disagree. You need to understand human nature and relationship and then apply those as best you can to people’s problems. That’s not easy; takes time and requires a lot of thinking.
