Is chasing down the ice cream truck considered “working out”?

Summer’s here and the time is right for all of us hard-core gym bunnies to strip down and show off the lithe and toned bodies we’ve spent all spring perfecting. Uh, yeah—right.
Truth be told, in the last few months I’ve logged more hours standing in line for Mr. Softee than running on the treadmill. My gym membership card is covered with a layer of dust so thick, my picture is unrecognizable. And the workout clothes I got for Christmas still have the price tags on them. Argh.
Here’s the thing: I hate the gym. I find it incredibly boring, and even with my best intentions firmly in place, I can rarely motivate myself to even walk through the door.
I can’t jog because I have bad knees. I don’t own a bike because there’s no place to store one in my small New York apartment. And Rollerblades just aren’t my style.
OK, OK—I know it sounds like I’m just making excuses, but surely there must be a way for someone like me to get in shape that’s both fun and stimulating.
I figured I should at least give my fingers a good workout and see if you athletic Answerers could provide any inspiration. Here’s what I found:
- There are all kinds of creative strength-training exercises that can be done without ever stepping foot in a gym. Basic calisthenics like push-ups and crunches are fantastic options.
- Your money might be better spent on some simple equipment for home use, rather than an expensive (and underused) gym membership. There’s a lot that can be done with just a jump rope, a balance ball, and a couple of dumbbells.
- NAQ recommends swimming instead of jogging—it’s a great workout, easier on your body, and a good option for someone whose knees can’t handle the impact of running. And there’s a public pool near my house. I’m in!
- Living in a small apartment is no excuse for not owning a bike—there are plenty of storage options for the space-challenged. Biking is not only great exercise, but riding outside is much more interesting than staring at the gym wall or TV while on the stationary bike.
- I do own a Wii, so maybe I should give the Wii Fit a try. It sounds like fun, and seems to be working for some users.
- If all else fails, I think tidbit has the right idea: Just put on some music and dance!
I guess I really have no excuse for not getting my butt in gear and getting in shape this summer. What about you? How do you stay in shape outside of the gym?

Lol, you and I both. I like to use the excuse for not biking anymore that I’m a single mom of a young daughter, but they have those cage-like enclosures you can attach to the back of a bike. Problem is, I love to bike dangerously, weaving in between traffic like a complete idiot, lol. It’s a wonder that I’m still alive. Needless to say, I’m looking into investing in a stationary bike. Oldie but goodie. I remember back in middle school, they’d occasionally have us girls do Tae Bo in the nice, air-conditioned gym. It wasn’t humiliating because hey, we were all forced to do it. The boys got all gross and sweaty playing flag football outside. Regardless of the temperature, I was always envious of them. However, now I like Tae Bo. You can pick up some cheap DVDs like I did off of Amazon.com. I can’t run or job either because one of my knees is messed up, and I refuse to go to a doctor and get hacked on, and still not be able to run afterwards. I’m stubborn like that. In the mornings, I walk my daughter to the babysitter’s, and then I walk to the bus stop. Once I get off the bus, I walk to work. That equates about… 20-25 minutes. In the evenings, reverse the steps, and that’s a good exercise routine. Now that’s the exercise situation that I’ve found myself in. As for eating, I’ve cut out pop, which was a big malefactor in my progress. I also eat at home, which means not only do I save money, but I tend to cook healthier, and therefore eat healthier, than I would if I were just to lazily purchase something already made. Since I’m insulin-resistant, I can’t eat too much carbs anyways, which works to my advantage in the long-run. Sorry, I rambled. I hope something I said will help to light a fire under said butt.
The photo of the person working out, is that at the gym on the campus of U of I? CRCE?
I can’t afford a gym membership, I can’t afford any exercise equipment, I don’t have access to a pool. I can’t even afford cable television or internet – I’m at the library right now.
What do you recommend for me, then? Walking’s boring. I have bad ankles.
Some of us DO have excuses.
why don’t you try playing some sports. the fact that you have other people to workout with and the competitive aspect of it makes it a lot more motivating. there are all kinds of beginer/adult leagues out there, just depends on what you’re looking for. buy a bike and join a weekend cycling group, or take some MMA classes.
Whoops, I meant “jog”, not “job”.
I personally swim, its a lot of fun and as of recently took up playing catch with a friend who is looking at joining a softball team…other than that the good old dancing works wonders
yes it is. while your running you lose more pounds then what you gain from eating ice cream.
Just because you have excuse doesn’t make them good or valid ones.
So what if walking is boring? If you want to get in shape it shouldn’t matter. Get a map of your city and plan a new route everyday. Walk to places you’ve never been before. Walking is a really a great way to exercise.
Do some basic calisthenics while watching TV instead of sitting on the couch. You don’t need equipment to do jumping jacks or crunches. And if you cannot afford a jump rope, you need a better job.
Exercising is not hard. Household and yard chores, errands, or anything little thing you do can be exercise, especially combined with good eating habits.
So stop making excuses and start getting in shape. Its not hard. You’re just lazy.
I live in an area where walking is a little impractical (anyone want to try walking uphill in 80 degree weather? Didn’t think so), so I bought a small, cheap stair stepper and sat it down in front of my TV. Its kind of like walking or jogging in place, but it doesn’t feel quite as awkward, and with a little bit of determination, you can definitely lose weight doing it. I’ve lost around twenty pounds since I started doing it last December, and I realize that it might not be for everyone, but it definitely worked for me.
Do something more productive than going to the library to look up Yahoo Answers…try getting a job to get money for a health club.
I saw a mom on tv that used her kids as lifting weights (which they loved), did lunges while cleaning up toys and such, did leg lifts while brushing her teeth, and when she got bored, just picked up a kid and danced.
Personally, I love the gym. I USED to hate it though, but then I started attending classes. They are very motivating
.
crunches, push-ups, jogging in place, jumping jacks, jomp rope? (don’t tell me you can’t afford to walk to a dollar store and buy one) Plus, walking isn’t boring if you take a buddy along
Well. I’m not a kid so I wouldn’t know- and it’s not the ice cream truck your chasing down when you go to the gym. When doing the stairmaster 45 min. at top levels, I like to compare it to an ocean, and all I gotta do is stay steady and make it to the tip top.
Your workout advice is not worth very much. You really don’t know what you’re talking about, and it would be better if you would blog about other subjects. Leave the workout advice to those of us who actually workout and get results. Thanks.
I actually enjoying working out a lot. The problem is that I have difficulty increasing the intensity of the workout and thus I don’t see results very quickly. I tend to power walk at a very high level on a fairly steep incline for half an hour. My parents recently bought a nice treadmill and I’ve been using it like crazy, but I know that I’ll eventually tire of the same workout over and over. Lastly, I’m not disciplined enough with my diet. I don’t avoid the odd donut and whatnot. But I’m not down on myself at all — I’m doing a little above average with my regimes and it’s up to me to push myself harder, which I have the confidence, tenacity and passion to do if I really want to.
yea you are still running but not as long as you really should it doesnt even do any good cause once you eat the ice cream all of your work will be turned into nothing
Swimming is probably the best thing you can do.
ahaa, no. well unless you cant catch it. then you wouldn’t be running fast enough. which isnt working out. but if you do catch it , then no.
so i guess….. NO.
No…
But it is ironic
i jump rope to fun music.
and do excirsises with a weighted ball
ONLY- if You don’t catch it!
Well said Amanda and just to reiterate, Ellen Degeneres “demonstrated” how you can jump rope without even having a jump rope!
and actually, I think the question was asked tongue-in-cheek, for those who seem to be taking it literally.
hahah me and my friend did this last week! we never caught up to it though.
Find a friend an go to the gym with somebody else – you can us the buddy system to check in on each other and to motivate each other to get in shape
The fact that you were chasing an ice cream truck shows that you weren’t really working out because you were trying to get your fix of a fatty, sweet food.
Does anyone have any advice for someone who has been working out 45 minutes a day/5 days a week and been watching their diet, yet after two months, have managed to gain weight? It’s frustrating! Yes, I’ve been eating healthier, watching my portions, and been doing cardio and strength/toning exercises…still, not losing weight, but gaining (not my goal). Please help!
i walk my daughter to preschool and back. That’s 20 minutes each way and because we live in a community park, we also walk up and back to check the mail. so that’s about 100 minutes a day M-F and then me husband works outside on the yard so i go out to help once in a while but I mostly run after the kids and clean house. I try to eat right but hubby has high metabo and wants me to make cookies and stuff. It’s so hard to disipline myself not to eat some of it..l try though. My kids love fruit though so we go thru that alot.
you may want to walk in some of the beautiful parks that are in new york if you live in that kind of area. Get out and meet the people. (no political joke intended)
Only if you’re too lazy to excercise!
I work out to a CD by Heidi Roizen called Skinny Songs. It is highly, motivating and the other day I even turned on an exercise program from on-demand on the t.v, turned the volume down and still listened to the CD. It really helps you think about yourself in a different way. You should check out her website and read/hear some of the lyrics.
You work out in order to stay out of the fats. Then you eat ice cream and have all the fats in. It is contradictory. But there is nothing wrong with a bit of ice cream. It is so hard to shred off all the kilograms and you want to destroy your effort ?
Hmmmm….yeah. It just could be, IMO.
Here’s a suggestion that will definitely get you a good calorie burn from this activity:
After chasing down the truck, get your ice cream goodie, and then back away when it’s time to pay. Just stand there licking your cone. When the ice cream guy comes out to get his dough, start running. Let him chase you around the block a few times. After a few laps, or when the guy gets tired, whichever comes first, drop his money on the ground and keep running til you no longer see him. This entire episode should burn off a good 200 to 300 cals, with the adrenaline rush alone pushing that number up even more. Good stuff!
That’s what I call a workout!, You got to run both at the beginning and end of your munchie run, and you lived to tell it. That’s an ice cream cone well deserved!
NASTY FAT FACE!
U AINT BE NEEDIN NO ICE CREAM AND CHASING THE ICE CREAM TRUCK AINT WORKIN OUT HUNNY!
That’s kinda funny as I would often go biking & where I usually eat is @ any nearby fast food restaurant in town. But @ least I usually do circuitous bike routes through neighborhoods or on the bike path.
well not really
We decided to plant a garden. Because we just bought our home and land, we have TONS of work to do. I’ve spent about 150 hours on it already just getting it prepared to plant (over the past 4 months). This week I’ve spent about 15 hours so far finishing the beds and preparing to plant. I still have about another 5 hours to go to get all the vegetables in.
The rest of the summer and fall I will be spending hours every week weeding, watering, and caring for the plants. My reward will not be ice cream, but yummy, healthy! veggies that I grew.
I have a home gym – we converted our entire garage with weights, an elliptical machine, and a treadmill, but lately I’ve been so tired from working in the yard that I haven’t been able to work out in there. Once things are calmed down a bit, I can get back to my regular routine, but I’m still working out – just in a different way.
Another example of ‘working out’ is jogging to and from The Golden Corral!!!
Yeah, no. Chasing down an ice cream truck is exercise for fatasses who are chasing down their snack after eating a big mac. Wii Fit is a joke, if you want real exercise, the only way you’re going to get it is from a sport, or actually working out and running.
Do thing you like/ do thing that is useful.
1. Vacuuming — 25 minutes of vacuuming around your home will burn just about 100 calories.
2. Gardening — Like to garden? It’s the digging and raking that will reap the most fitness benefits. These are the bigger calorie burners when it comes to gardening. In fact, you can burn up to 100 in just 15 minutes with these movements.
3. Walking — The easiest and one of the most natural movements known to human beings. Fifteen minutes of brisk walking will burn approximately 100 calories. A brisk daily walk at lunch time or after work will make a difference.
4. Jogging in place — Need a quick pick me up before work? Jog in place for 12 minutes and burn a little more than 100 calories.
5. Dancing — 20 minutes of dancing at a moderate pace will burn 100 calories. C’mon, you know you love to do it, so have some fun with it.
6. Ironing clothes — If you have to do it for the whole family you might as well know the calories you’re burning. Just a bit more than 100 calories in 25 minutes.
7. Badminton — A casual, noncompetitive, 20-minute game of badminton will get you to the mark, and it’s a lot of fun.
8. Housework — Vigorous housework for 20 minutes will burn a little more than 100 calories. You have to do it, so why not make it count?
9. Volleyball — Twelve minutes of volleyball is all it takes to reach our magic number. Not a bad way to burn some calories while on the beach.
10. Biking — How about a light bike ride in the summer? A light intensity of approximately 10 mph will burn more than 100 calories in just 40 minutes.
11. Golfing — Just 20 minutes of golf will burn 100 calories.
12. Swimming — I’m not referring to swimming laps or training for the Olympics. Just a 15-minute leisurely swim will get us to our goal
13. High-impact aerobics — You might wonder why I would include this. It’s not like you’re going to aerobic class for 10 minutes. However, if you’re pressed for time or working long hours, invest in a fun aerobic videotape and use it for 10 minutes (after a warm-up) each day. That’s close to 120 calories in just 10 minutes.
14. Car waxing — Forget the car wash. Do it yourself on a hot summer day. Just 20 minutes of waxing your car will burn more than 100 calories.
15. Frisbee — A fun 30-minute Frisbee toss with your kids or a friend will burn up our needed calories, and it’s a bit more pleasurable than a boring jaunt on the treadmill.
16. Take the stairs — If you work in an office building, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Approximately 20 minutes will burn about 100 calories. You don’t have to do it all at one time. Just make sure to spread it out during the day.
17. Pushing baby stroller — Pushing a stroller burns approximately 60 calories in 20 minutes. No problem, two nice and easy 20-minute strolls per day will get the job done without even breaking a sweat.
18. Mowing the lawn (self-propelled mower) — 25 minutes and you’ve burned about 100 calories. Just like cleaning, it needs to be done so put a little oomph into it.
19. Painting — Need to paint a room in your home or apartment? You can burn approximately 100 calories with 20 minutes of painting. Plus, you get a better-looking room at the same time.
20. Weight training — 15 minutes of vigorous weight training will burn approximately 100 calories. You don’t have to workout forever. Just three 15 to 20 minute session per week will keep your bones strong, muscles tight — and you’ll keep burning calories after your workout.
So burn calories without excercising.
Hey Richard,
Nice post! The trend du jour seems to be boot camps, or at least amongst the SF set. When I first moved over to Current it seemed like everyone in the office was involved in a boot camp workout regime of some sort or the other…
Anyway, Wii Fit seems like something that could be fun to try out, but I wouldn’t rely on it to shed pounds.
Take care, and it’s great to see you still blogging for Y!A.
Excuses, and misconceptions are all I see here.
A gym is hardly necessary. I only go to the Y for their pool. Yes that costs money, but if you truly are low income, they’ll help you out.
Most of my time is spent outside riding or running. No bike? With a little effort you could come up with something serviceable on garbage day. It might not be stylish or raceworthy, but certainly good enough for workout or transportation.
Complaining about 80°? Get out of the A/C. Your body will adapt if you let it. Once I’m heat adapted in the summer, anything less than 80 seems cold. Ironman Wisconsin ’03 it was over 90° for most of the run. No problem if you keep up with the fluids. Same goes for winter. Turn down the thermostat, let your body adapt, dress properly. I’ve gone singletracking (mountain bike) with my son when it was below 0°.
Everyone needs at LEAST an hour of strenuous exercise daily.
No, because it defeats the purpose of you “exercising” in the first place if you’re just gonna add more junk to your body right afterward.
Yes it is considered a work out. If you chase the ice cream truck for a couple of blocks. You will have to be running at least 15 mi/h. You would really deserve that ice cream in the end. But you might look really wierd chasing an ice cream truck!
Only if you are driving the truck.
I know what you mean!!
Well, for me the hard part is not working out, but following a healthy diet.
I know that it’s kinda pointless to work out for thirty minutes everyday if afterwards you’re going to pig out with doughnuts and tacos.
I’m trying tho!!
And thanx for the tips!
http://360.yahoo.com/tlazolteotl.immortal2
exercise is an action that results in a reward to yes running after the truck is the action and the ice cream is the reward!! i sy go for it!
Hell That is my daily work out lmao
Chasing down the ice cream truck is great exercise. Provided that you chase it down for like 3 blocks….and the catch is, after you have ate your ice cream you will probably gain more than what you have burnt in that short run.
Only if you skip the ice cream when you do catch up to the ice-cream truck! LOL
YEAH defo!!
I haven’t exercised in a while. I used to walk twice a day, until I had to get rid of my dog. He attacked one of my cats, but fortunately did no injury or damage.
Beginning June 16, I will be walking about a mile a day, and helping the environment at the same time. I have signed up for the van pool that the county I work in offers. They have a pick-up in my town, about half a mile from my house. I can walk there early in the morning, sit around until the van arrives, go to work, come back, and walk home in the evening. No, I won’t be sitting on a cornflake, or any other breakfast cereal. Bonus points if you can figure out the reference. There are a couple of restaurants very close to work that I can walk to if I want, or else just take my lunch.
I have a very old and not well made shelving unit in my room by the door (and three steps to get into my room) After a severe injury I have gone though every step leading up to the leaning on something for a little support. Every night I lean on the shelving unit lightly and Every other night it (and everything on it) Falls. The abdominal exercises are on the floor matching things up and creating space to sit in. I use a twisting bending lifting for shelves 1-4. Great for abs, love handles, and arms. Then for 4+ I have the TV the stereo and other electronics good arm muscle building and since I am short I do a lot of tippy toeing which is really good for buliding back the mucles in my legs. There is no air conditioning so depending on the day I also do a lot of sweating. (“sweating to the oldies” was a workout video right?) MY actual point is doing house work, cleaning, dusting, etc. is good for your body and your accomplishing tasks that you can have pride in.
i know that mr. softee feeling… I have an ab lounger that i stopped using cause i’d go too far back in it and wouund up getting motion sickness. I have a nice bike but the tires need air and i don’t have a pump at the house. I have a gym membership that i still pay for but stopped going months ago. I would use the machines but that gets boring after awhile and the classes they offered were full after work and not varied enough for me. I do walk daily though to wherever i can. My problem is more diet. I stopped with the sodas months ago and drink more water and natural juices instead. i hate jumping ropes and i don’t swim so thats out.
Yes…if you chase the ice cream truck for 10 miles. Of course, at this point it would be appropriate to reward yourself at the end of the run with a delicious double dip cone. The Fitness Diva’s comments are accurate, fats take longer to break down to simple sugar or glucose, however, depending on our metabolic rate, a little moderation never hurt any one from time to time. Fat Kilocalories are harder to burn than starches which are harder to burn than complex sugars (C12, H24, O11+), but it all eventually converts to (C6, H12, O6) which is then usable as glycogen within the muscles.
To be perfectly honest, I don’t even have to chase the ice cream truck. I’m at a great physical disadvantage because all my friends work in dessert shops- free ice cream, free cookies, and free fudge. Great in theory, fat in practice. So what do I do? WALK. A lot. It helps that I live in a small town where things are nearby, but either way, walking is so easy and so beneficial, because I can do it for hours without tiring one bit. And if you do get tired, do what I did today when the sun starting boiling me- jump into a lake. Fully-clothed. This sort of lackadaisical, summer routine will get you in shape in no time. Hopefully you live near a lake
hahaha
a work out is a soccer practice more than 3-4 miles
most people cant do it
Chasing is running…running is exercise…exercise is good no matter how limited. Our bodies weren’t made for a constant of being still so your moving!
I find my dogs give me a great reason to exercise. Without them, I wouldn’t ever get off my lazy rear! I have to walk them daily though, and getting up and down to let them in and out of the yard helps me burn an extra few calories. Plus, they always help me cut calories because I always end up sharing at least a third of whatever I’m eating with them!
im eating chocolate icecream.
with peanut butter swirls
im 13
i shouldnt be worrying about how much ice cream i eat.
Thanks for the BAD INFLUENCE!
totes jk
lol
thanks 4 sum good workout ideas for when i get older..
it’s as effective as eating potato chips while you watch your exercise videos.
personally, i prefer stationary cycling. turn on the fan, have your coffee in reach, light up, if you must and listen to your favorite inspirational station.
works for me.
signed,
chubby
Here’s an idea: Chase the ice cream truck, but never get close enough to actually buy something. Then run back home. THAT’S exercise!
OMG…tooooooo funny…I say yes…just get something sugar-free and make sure you chase it for 15 minutes!
go buy a Wii. seriously, i am sure you have seen the commercials for the new Wii board thingy. buy a Wii and buy the board thing. then have fun exercising with the board or just pop in a video game like bowling or baseball. i played a Wii for like 2 hours and i was sweating. i don’t know your age or what kind of shape you are in but i am 24 and in good shape, so if the Wii will make me sweat it should you!! good luck and have fun!!
It IS working out if you’re a dog …
awsome
i’d say so.
you could chase the icecream truck and burn off some fat and then gain it back by eating the icecream so in the end you’ll be the same
It counts if
(1) you don’t buy anything and
(2) you don’t pee on the wheels.
That is only considered exercise if when you catch the truck, you purchase an ice cream for your grandkids, and not yourself.
Well that depends…
If all you’re doing is chasing the truck. Then sure it’s exercise, whatever floats your boat.
If you’re chasing it and then devouring ice-cream treats after your little run, then you’re cancelling out your running efforts.
FYI too, chasing vehicles isn’t really recommended as it can lea to unfortunate accidents if not careful.
Happy runnings!
Do some pilates excersises while you’re at it. That’s a good workout, I think.
i have two small children exercise is easy just let them out of the house and im running all over…lol
Any kind of running is exercise.
But be sure to tell those ice cream trucks to shut off that horrible noise.
I used to play DDR. The craze has definitely died down from five years ago, but I still enjoy playing it. It helped keep me fit with the more challenging songs. It was also fun to dance to the music. Everyone’s different so what might work for some won’t work for everyone.
Chasing the ice cream truck can be exercise
id say yes. i mean your run, walking,or joging
TOTALLY!!!! Haha but for real, now if you buy an ice cream it’s a WAY different story!!
Do something that distracts you so you don’t realize you’re exercising. Dance classes, martial arts, yoga, sports… for me, anything where there is some other goal than just to keep exercising are very fun, and at the end of the session, I’m covered in sweat and half the time I didn’t even realize I was exercising because I was having fun!
yes. yes it is
I personally don’t understand people who go to the gym. I find it very boring and dull. I’d recommend taking classes to learn sports, karate, yoga, aqua-aerobics, dancing etc.
Yes, chasing the ice cream truck is working out.
But eating the ice cream is pigging out.
And I’m pretty sure they cancel each other out.
Darn.
depending how fast is the truck lol.
and i think it is, because when you usually run or work out you dont feel hungry, well not THAT hungry, you’ll probably wont eat the whole thing, or eat a low fat.
cheers =)
You can totally chase down the ice cream truck… but the ice cream might just cancel it out
P
I picked up belly dancing for a fit trick, sooo much fun and much more interesting than staring at a wall on a stationary bike.
It is. But I have a better idea try green tea in pill form or hoodia.Ihave lostfourteen pounds in fourteen days by taking the green tea pill and I am paralized in my right leg and cannot exercise.Good luck.
Remember not to let children get excited and run after
ice cream trucks that deliver goodies to your locale. When I was young, 5-6 years old, my neighbor was aged 4, was killed by a speeding car that travelled past a Mr. Softee truck in CT as he darted out to get to the truck parked on the other side of the road. When you see trucks that have a bumper sticker “watch out for children” on it, this was a slogan that started after this incident on the street where I grew up. Ice cream trucks give me chills when I see children so attracked to them and loose all sense of their surrooundings!! WHEN DRIVING: PLEASE be CAUTIOUS around parked ice cream trucks!!!!
well………depending how far
maybe like four or more blocks everyday
then i would say yes
it is a work out
Chasing after the ice cream truck is an exercise, running is an exercise. Just because someone is chasing an ice cream truck doesn’t mean they are going to get ice cream. A much better question would be, ” Is chasing an ice cream truck and then buying something there an excercise?” If you do decide to get something buy something healthy so your workout wasn’t worthless. Even if you did buy the double fudge brownie sunday, the chase for the ice cream truck was still exercise just not effective.
yea i think it would be because you are running after an ice cream truck and trying to catch up with it while losing weight and working up a sweat so yes it is a form of wotking out.
Get a wii and the game wii fit it has everything on it. It also tells you your bmi and lets you set weekly goals and keeps charts.
yea,lol
It most certainly is!
If you catch the truck and don’t buy anything it is.
Yes! And so is walking a block or so to Starbucks for a venti whatever with whip!
No, but sex is….if you do it right !
i think u` properly know what ur problem is, its just that ur intersted but u lack will.still there r other ways to cut down ur fat .
chasing the ice cream truck near my house is because he doesn’t stop i think when he sees all the pudgy kids running after him he tries to tire them out so theyll buy more but ya i would consider that a work out, if you do it daily.
We used to chase down the milk trucks on a hot day like today. At the end of his run he would give us the chunks of ice he used to keep the milk cold all day. they started out as big block of ice that if we bought them would have cost a whole quarter in 1950!
only if you catch it.!!
