Ok so bedbugs were spotted at the place I work at and today when I got home I think I brought one with me cuz it was crawling on a pillow!!! I’m so scared now I really can’t afford to have bedbugs rite now!!! I already washed all the stuff I had at work and tmr I’m gonna clean my whole room! I might be just paranoid but like whats the probability of getting infested if u only brought one home?? FYI when I smushed the bug it smelled like wisky

Cleaning your room has NOTHING to do with bed bugs.

These people are not experts. Please note that people who scrub their houses raw will still have bed bugs if it’s not taken care of by a professional.

Bed bug sprays will work if you attack the bed bug problem right in the beginning. Most likely though, the bed bugs have already started multiplying and are hiding somewhere (it doesn’t have to be on your bed, they hide in other places). Switching out mattresses does nothing.

Please listen and get an exterminator. The more you wait, the bigger the problem. You guys need professionals.

Interesting long discussion here. I just wanted to say that the Ortho Home Defense Max spray is great to keep Those pesty roaches away, but does not work on bed bugs. believe me, you NEED an exterminator, these people whove never had them have the SLIGHTEST idea of what they are and how to get rid of them, getting a new mattress or even a new bedroom set for that matter wont help, they arent all in the bed, theyre everywhere in the house, in the cracks, under the floor, in the lining of the damn door. They travel up to 100ft to get to blood so even if you do get rid of em, if the apartment has em they’ll still find you when their host is gone.

Regularly cleaning your room, your mattress and your bed sheets can help. To ward off bed bugs and termites, try spraying a mixture of lemon juice and water on your mattress. This worked well in warding off fleas and it should also have the same effect to bed bugs.

This has been happening for over two months to me
sometimes, it wont happen sometimes it will. I have woken up with small lumps when I know for a fact there is no mosquito in my room. I’ve washed my bed sheets and everything. I have to fall into a deep sleep not to notice, I have to wear jackets and long sleeve tops to bed. It still doesn’t work. I also have to wait until I’m really tired (Like 2:30 in the morning on a school night) not to notice…Thank you so much..I haven’t though about bed bugs….

Please don’t try to do it yourself for bedbugs, and please do enough research to get an exterminator who really knows bedbugs.

The absolute best place for bedbug information is the forum at bedbugger.com. PLEASE go read there.

In my reserach on a bug problem I have (it turns out to be bird mites) I’ve read thousands of pages on bugs.

On bedbugger you can also find some guidance about which exterminators to use.

There is a huge amount of misinformation here, all well-intentioned I am sure. Haven’t read all of it.

bed bugs can be expensive to remove but it’s worth it considering how many people have set their houses on fire trying to do it themselves

As Ellie wrote, a lot of misinformation on here. Don’t rely on message boards circulating myths and reinforcing existing stigma regarding bed bugs. Do your research.

Chances are a DIY approach is only going to buy you some temporary relief from bed bugs. Meanwhile, you’ve driven the bed bugs deeper into their hiding places while the infestation builds. Now they are going to be harder to treat.

DIY is possible of course–if you have the knowledge, the equipment and are ruthlessly methodical. For most of us, a pest control officer is the only way to go. And even they find it difficult to eradicate bed bugs.
