Why was that featured?

Why is “going green” so expensive?  I found this one during my search for Earth Day material, but it’s also relevant year-round in today’s “go green” world. And with its lengthy list of free ways to go green, it gives everyone the opportunity to pitch in and help Mother Earth!

How should you get rid of old VCRs?  We’re still in that in-between stage, where some of us have moved on to the next generation of technology, while others continue to hold on to older gadgets. As we make the switch, it’s nice to know the best way to dispose of our old technology, and CA_Chad helps us out with a great answer.

What is the wisest thing you have heard?  We thought this was a pretty “wise” question when we read it, and the number of stars and thumbs-up the Q&A pair received shows how much users agreed. It received several good answers that we can all learn from.

Editors spend countless hours going through Answers to highlight the top Q&A, but with the amount of content added every minute, it’s impossible for us to catch all the great questions and answers that the community comes up with. If you’ve seen a question that you think should be featured, send it to y_answrs_editors@yahoo.com.

  1. Wait…you spend “countless hours” and this is the best stuff you can find? Please give me 20 minutes and a cup of coffee and I’ll find some MUCH better questions.

  2. “in today’s go-green world” haha yea right, if gas prices went down no one would give a hoot about “going green”

  3. Going green is a good thing but businesses and people see that there is a lot of money that can be raked in. They throw out to the masses the worst case scenario that isn’t remotely going to happen and get them to believe it and then voila….for 199.99 you can fix the problem.

  4. I used to worry about going green. Then, my favorite health food store went out of business, and I think it partially killed me, and I’ve been grieving ever since, (just kidding.) I’m glad you talk about that because I’m starting to be able to think of those things again. Thank-you Answers! I like your point of view on the answers. Thank-you.

  6. i understand about looking for best things to feature and that is all well and good. what concerns me much more is the violations against users that are not valid that even weeks later have not been corrected.

going green is nice, looking for wisdom in a noble undertaking, but justice to your loyal users should be paramount.

i do look at featured from time to time and i often think the best answer to be interesting.

you will do what you so will to do, as will i, but it would be well if both of us were able to contribute more fully.

I invite you to email me and i will tell you exactly what could be changed for the better. i have no problem speaking my mind concisely

  9. Simple! going green is about making money off of brainwashable people. We are just a speck of dust in a very large world. Going green is now costing us at the pump and at the grocery store. Who knows where it will end? This ethanol and corn subsidy must be stopped immediately. Call your govt. puke representatives and insist that we switch to clean coal for power and untampered gasoline for fuel.

  10. going green should be on top of EVERYONE’S mind. clearly (by some of these answers) it is not. the people that do not think much of “going green” are ignorant and are avoiding one of our planet’s greatest problems. To answer the question: if going green were already the cheapest way to mass produce something, everyone would already be doing it. unfortunetly, there are other cheaper ways. Its not that it is incredibly expensive, its just not as cheap as another option.

  11. What about questions (such as the “Where is he best place to see the northern lights?” currently featured in the Best of Answers section) where the Best Answer is completely WRONG???

Is there any sort of screening process – or are questions based on the amount of stars (with “pleeeeeeeeeease give me a staaaaaaaaaar” type questions removed)…

    ;) ;)

  12. I think going green is actually cheaper! To me going green means not getting rid of stuff until it is useless. That means you actually save money by not replacing everything any time it gets a little worn. I’m also extra cautious on what I’m buying (am I really going to use this). I also walk wherever I can so I’m saving on gas!

  17. wow. yeah right. I answer questions better than any of the answerers on the blog. however, it’s one of those things where you just put “going green” ones on there. nothing that a lot of people ask about. do you know how many times I’ve answered “how to do fouette en tournent?” or “what are the measurements required to be a professional dancer?” with thorough, informative, and easy-to-relate-to answers? do you know what i’ve gotten for it? a couple of points and a “top contributor” under my name. pish, y!a. look in the dancing section once in a while — you’ll find so many great answers by me and the other dancers out there. just try it.
