Got the winter weather blues?

Tags:

It seems like this winter has already dumped a hefty amount of snow and sent ice storms across the country, and it’s only the beginning of January. I’m reminded of the winters I enjoyed as a kid, when there was almost always snow throughout December and a white Christmas. Having recently moved from California‘s two seasons, I appreciate all that four seasons can offer. But if you’re one of the thousands of people whose holiday travel was interrupted by snow or ice, you’re no doubt frustrated by Mother Nature’s chilly aspect and looking forward to spring. If you opted to stay put to avoid dealing with the challenges of traveling, you might be feeling a little cooped up about now. We all have our own ways of coping with frigid weather, but my recent plan of attack to survive winter is to embrace it. When the sun does appear, whether the temperature’s arctic cold or mild, you’ll want to find a way to catch that sunshine to recharge your solar batteries.Go out and play in the snow. Take the kids sledding. Get out to the slopes and strap a board or two to your feet for some downhill exhilaration. Find the thing that will allow you that precious outdoor time, and still provide a great experience. If that’s not possible, welcome new hobbies or further dive into your current ones. For me, that means taking more pictures and tinkering with them, or perfecting my gaming techniques. And finally, there’s the cozy option of staying home in front of a fire, watching a movie or two with your hands wrapped around a cup of hot chocolate.

How do you survive the winter?
